I got some free rentals at Blockbuster for filling out a survey. Should I bother renting Alexander now that it's FINALLY out and I never wanted to waste 9 bucks in the theater to see it? Or is there something better I should rent?
-
Don't waste your money if you want something like braveheart.
Now if you wanna watch something that would make Queer Eye look straight, then get Alexander. MAN LOVE!!!
-
The Last Horror Movie -new release
Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai -suspense
Seven Samurai -foreign
The Lost Skeleton of Kadavra -comedy
Hitch -new release

Waste money? How can I waste money if I get FREE RENTALS?
And megs, I've never heard of any of those
I have no desire to rent anything right now, and I have no idea what I'd want to rent if I did.

You haven't heard of Hitch? I'm pretty sure it's got Eva Longoria.
-
Seven Samurai is a pretty famous film by Akira Kurosawa. When they remade it in America they changed the Samurai to cowboys and it become The Magnificent Seven.
Hitch is Will Smith's latest Train Wreck, and also co-Stars Kevin James of "King of Queens." It also was spawning point of the song "Switch" which you I cannot seem to get away from.
Ghost Dog was what I believe to be a direct to video movie staring Forest Whitaker. Can't say much about it as I only saw the trailer attached to another movie I rented, but since I never rented it I must not have been to impressed by it. I really only remember Forrest from Fast Time and Ridgemont High, and North and South. .....Oh and that shitpile of a movie Battlefield: Earth. You owe eight bucks L.Ron Huburd!
The other two I have no clue about.
-
Rent Stone Cold. It has Tom Selleck.

Eva Mendes.
-
That's why I suggested them, asshole. <_<
-
Eva Mendes.
Still nice.

Seriously.

I thought that Hitch movie sounded familiar. How do you expect me to take Meg's suggestions seriously when he suggests some crap with Will Smith in it, and a movie that reminds Rama of Battlefield: Earth?
So I rented Alexander and it's full of guys piercing each other.....
....with swords and spears, of course! But there is gay stuff in it too. It's the "Director's Cut" which means they butchered it worse than St*r WarzzZZ. I haven't seen the movie version so who knows if the change is an improvement. But the DVD had no extras that might have redeemed it.
I wanted to rent Princess Bride, but Blockbuster was lacking. There was Princess Diaries and a shitty sequel in it's place. I can't believe they didn't have a Princess Bride DVD there!
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You have failed to carry a copy of Princess Bride on DVD. Prepare to die."
-
That's a movie so classic you must own it.
Blockbuster is so concerned with getting the new movies in that they forget there where movies made before 1995. When I wanted to rent and watch Casblanca again, they didn't have it. Which is a movie crime that should be punishable by death.
-
If they don't have Casablanca, they deserve to go out of business.
-
People usually buy the old movies.
-

fucking blockbuster only had one dvd of zoolander. so dumb.
-
I know! Who the hell even likes that movie? They should have put an extra copy of Gross Pointe Blank there instead.
-
shut up, zoolander is freaking amazing
-
I don't know...Zoolander was pretty much a waste of film. Stiller has much better films out there. (Meet the Parnets, Mystery Men.)
And while I agree that Grosse Pointe Blank deserves that spot more then Zoolander, I still think there are movies better then GPB that should have that spot. Hell I can name a couple other Cusack films that should be there instead of GPB. Like "Say Anything." and "High Fidelity". I even thought Pushing Tin was better then GPB, and it stars two people I really don't care for. (Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie. Although Bad News Bears looks pretty good)
If I was going to suggest a movie to rent, I'd say the 1995 verison of "The Quick and the Dead."
-
Gross Pointe Blank was just my kinda movie.
-
Ah.....I can understand that. I really like the movie Toys. I know it sucks, but I like it anyways.
-
...
*looks over at his Lightsaber*
^^;
-
Thinking of John Cusack makes me want to see Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil again. :D
-
Another good movie.
-
Zoolander was a piece of crap and deserves to KILL Ben Stiller's career. Too bad it didn't.
Gasoline fight...jesus christ.
-
Hmm, now that I've returned Alexander, I think I got some ideas for other ones to rent....
Kung Fu Hustle, never seen it.
Labyrnth, haven't seen it since I was a kid
Mystery Men because Rama mentioned it and I've never seen it.
I rented Ben Hur but that was from the Library so it was free. Widescreen 2-sided DVD :D
-
Mystery Men was lame and unfunny. Take all of my suggestions, fuck lamb.
-
Not only was it lame, unfunny and gay, but it also spawned one of the most godawful and overplayed pieces of garbage ever--All Star by Smash Mouth... I know you like to say that there's no such thing as "bad music" Megs, but try and defend that shit.
-
But it catapulted Smash Mouth into State Fairs everywhere!!!
And I guess Mystery Men is just like Toys for me, but I liked it. Besides you could proably buy it for cheaper then you can rent it. I saw it in the 5.50 bin at Wal-Mart last night.
-
I liked it too...Especially when Greg Kinnear got fried.
Hank Azaria was hilarious I thought.
-
Delicious movie, and Directed by Tim Burton incognito.
-

*shudder~~~* :joe:
-
And then they gave us Walking on the Sun, a white boy dance contest song if ever there was one.
-
Of course by "then" you mean "about four years before"
-
No, "then" as in the time it got back on the repetitive non-stop play list on the top 40 stations and into the clubs here. Before All Star, it was an alternative blip. Houston is one of the biggest audio wastelands in the nation.
-
Man, I can't FIND a station that plays anything I like other than 94.7, and the soft Jazz cna get old on long road trips.
-
Soft Jazz!!! No, no, no....when you're driving you need driving mustic. AC/DC, KISS, Motorhead....stuff like that. Soft Jazz will make you LESS likely to flip people off and that's just not how things are done here in America son.
-
I like NIN & Morbid Angel for road trips. :)
I don't know why the airwaves suck here. The "new rock alternative" station played Candlebox (Far Behind) 4 times yesterday and Motion City Soundtrack once. If you like Marc Anthony, Destiny's Child or Clint Black, you've got the whole dial to choose from, but anything else and you're SOL. 5 million people and they can't even keep a commercial classical station. <_<
-
Nine Inch Nails is better when you're driving than any other time. And what the hell are you saying about Walkin On the Sun getting played a lot after the stupid All-star song?
-
Walkin' on the Sun came out in summer of 1997 - believe me, I remember this because they were playing it on the "alternative" station about the time my dad died. It was around a while, them went poof. All Star was sometime in 1999 and you couldn't get away from it. Of course, since Smash Mouth only did three songs, despite releasing two albums somehow, ALL the top 40 stations started heavy rotation with WOTS again with an occasional spin of Then the Morning Comes.
Except on the Pacifica station where one could catch Sorry About Your Penis from the Orgazmo soundtrack. :P
-
I If you like Marc Anthony, Destiny's Child or Clint Black, you've got the whole dial to choose from, but anything else and you're SOL.
When I first heard Marc Anthony I thought he was a woman. I also though the guy that sang "Hot Child in the City" was a woman for most of my life.
-
I'LL GO WITH THE MORBID ANGEL SETUP AS WELL.
-
That reminds me, I found another station I can live with, 94.1... old school jamz, yo! I like 104.5, the classic rock station, but sometimes they get a little too old fogey for even me. I used to listen to the perfect station. They played "70's, 80's, and today". And then the millenium came and it was "80's, 90's, and today" and frankly most of the stuff from the late nineties and today that gets the most radio play makes me a-gag-gag. Maybe, all this time it was Smash Mouth's fault. Them and Blink 182, I guess.
-
There are soooo many bands from the late 70's-80's that get no play except on college stations - Killing Joke, Ultravox, Visage, and Oingo Boingo all come to mind because I bring discs to play at work and people go apeshit over them wanting to konw who the new band is.
For morning rush hour classics, I like the Misfits or the Ramones. Nice short fast songs to keep my break-in-traffic jackrabbit edge.
-
Even the Sirius 80 station I like... all they play is stuff considered to be an iconic hit. That means Cheap Trick's "The Flame" and "When Doves Cry" and the same Phil Collins/Genesis stuff is on constant rotation. Not that I don't like that sort of music, but the 80's had more stuff. Play some of that.
That's one of my other gripes with radio, especially stations specializing in playing more modern stuff: it's usually the same shit in continous rotation. John Mayer sucks ass, I don't need to hear him every damn ninety minutes. I shouldn't even know who he is. And I don't need to hear Rob Thomas all the time either. You don't want to be lonely no more, yeah I get it. The grammar alone kills me, nevermind the actual song.
-
For the longest time I thought the line "Like you do your girlfriends" was actually "and let me do your girlfriends." in that Rob Thomas song. Which would explain why he was so lonely.
-
Why you're so lonely.
-
Announcement:
I hate Gwen Steffani now. I'm about to holla back at her with a rocket launcher.
From what I've heard she uses a bunch of Japanee dancers and pretends she's Japanese. "Sugoi, Mya-chan's outfit is sooo kawaii, he he.." makes me want to destroy.
The local rock station has been playing a lot of Ted Nugent, might be because he's having a concert coming up, which I'm not going to because I'm broke and I don't like them THAT much.
Cat Scratch Fever.. duh duh duh...
Cat Scratch Fever... duh duh duh...
-

I'm not lonely...in fact sometimes I'd kill to be left alone.
-
I hate Gwen Steffani now. I'm about to holla back at her with a rocket launcher.
omg, Gwen Stefani of No Doubt... love. Gwen Stefani solo artist.... blah. "Rich Girl" blah. "Cool" blah. Kinda a shame since I like the stuff going on in the background.... if they could just remove her voice, the dumb visuals, and the corny lyrics...
-
She is so fucking annoying, even more so with her fake tits.
-
OMG her boobs are fake?!?!
-
i love her sooongss
-
She has new fake ones.
-
God. I really do hate all of you.
-
not me!
-
Ah. You did call Napoleon Dynamite "retarded" or something to that effect. But still, I guess not.
You know, I've only had sex with one Scorpio before. She was enough to make me wish I had spent time looking for more. :)
-
Hmmmm, now you've got me trying to remember:
4 Geminis, though my girlfriend had such a strong Libra ascendant she almost doesn't count
3 Cancerians
1 Pisces
1 Leo (not myself)
1 Sagittarius
1 Taurus
2 Scorpios
I was actually the least impressed by the Scorpio guy. :P
-
I am libra and scorpio for my bday is in october 23
-
Bernie's been around the block once or twice I see :P
The spirit of the woods is like an old good friend
It makes me feel warm and good inside
I knew his name and it was good to see him again
'Cuz in the wind he's still alive
Oh, Fred Bear, walk with me down the trails again
Take me back, back where I belong
Oh, Fred Bear, I'm glad to have you at my side, my friend
And I'll join you in the big hunt before too long
Before too long
-
The radio never plays anything I like.
Anyway, I like Leos.
-

I noticed there wasn't a Capricorn on that list....
You know once you go Cap you don't go back.
-
Libra through and through.
-
Bernie's been around the block once or twice I see
Well, my girlfriend & I made it "official" on Labor Day weekend right after I had turned 14, so I got an early start. But I've been totally monogamous since meeting Eddie in 1996. :)
You know once you go Cap you don't go back.
My favorite Cancerian had a strong Capricorn ascendant. Very....earthy & imaginative. Very.
-

Yeah, we all are baby.
Caps change the world, while Scorps and Leos just change their cloths.
-
Virgos.
-
I'm a lowly jew... I mean a lowly Sag.
-
I'm a cancer. I'm not going to read through the thread to figure out what this is about.
-
I was actually the least impressed by the Scorpio guy. :P
But the Sagittarius rocked your world, right?
-
I was wrong. Blockbuster did have Princess Bride, two copies of it. But it was shelved in the "Action" area. Sure it has action, but I thought it was more comedy than action.
Transporter 2 looks like a pretty good mindless action movie but I don't want to spend $9 on it unless I know it's worth it. I considered renting the first one, but I couldn't find it. Maybe they shelved it under "family"
Rented Kung Fu Hustle though, hope it's worth it. The dumb bitch at the register looked new, looked 14, and didn't know how to use my gift card to pay for the video. I suggested "The credit card reader?" and she was like "oh yea!"
-
For all you know that was her first real job and you expected her to know something like that? "The Transporter" makes it sound like he's moving around kidneys in a cooler.... all while doing kick-ass kung-fu wirework of course.
-
If you payed him, told him where he was going and when it had to get there, I'm sure he'd do it.
He doesn't want to know your name, though.
-
Just like a prositute.
-
i have a question, do you say "stood" or "stayed"?? im pretty sure its "stood", but "stayed" sounds so much prettier:blink:
-
You know once you go Cap you don't go back.
Yes until she cheats on you. Like all Capricorns eventually do.

-
See? Megs has a well-traversed block as well. :P
But the Sagittarius rocked your world, right?
He was the most....physically memorable, let's say, and quite complimentary on my meeting the "challenge". Very useful as a reference memory when faced with something daunting at work. The metaphoric aspects of situations usually aren't much different.
-
Sluts and virgins surround me. This is the weirdest support group ever!
-
Shut up, bitch.
-
am i the only one who doesnt remember the birthdays of the people i hooked up with?
-
No.
-
And one male Taurus. B)
Megs caught teh gay?
-
i have a question, do you say "stood" or "stayed"?? im pretty sure its "stood", but "stayed" sounds so much prettier:blink:
In what context? Use it in a sentence.
Megs caught teh gay?
Hey, all right!
-
I remember signs, but not always exact birthdays. Megs has me beat again. ;)
-
He only has them memorized so he can do his Madam Cleo astroprediction voodoo on them...
-
Call her now!! :D
-
He only has them memorized so he can do his Madam Cleo astroprediction voodoo on them...
Fuck Madam Cleo, it's *MISS* Cleo...
-
Nobody cares. She's lucky that she's even remembered.
-
And one male Taurus. B)
Megs caught teh gay?
I thought he was.
Oops.
-
Aah. Only a little. I've found that I don't like masculine guys, and that I have very high standards in general when it comes to gay-nitude.
-
o.o;;
*huggles*
-
Hear, hear. If I was a gay man, I'd be all over somebody like Hyde from L'Arc-en Ceil.
-
L'what?
-
L'Arc-en-Ciel - spelled it wrong. They do the opening theme for Full Metal Alchemist.
Hyde (http://www.tofurecords.com/forum/v2/viewtopic.php?t=988)
I like picture #5 the best. The one in the shower stall is pretty stupid.
-
Ready! Steady! Go!
Doesn't L'Arc-en-Ciel mean the rainbow?
Someone told me that Hyde had commited suicide. I think they were thinking of some other Japanese rocker named Hyde.
-
Yeah I think it's a different guy.

OMG ME TOO! i have a pic in which he looks GORGEOUS but i dont know how to paste it here :-/
wait, is he gay?
-
Don't think so. He's been married to Megumi Oishi (J-pop singer) for about 5 years now. Besides, if Gackt didn't nail him when they were filming Moonchild, no guy will. :P Hyde as a vampire... q~~~~
-
Don't think so. He's been married to Megumi Oishi (J-pop singer) for about 5 years now.
damnit!
but that doesnt mean hes not gay ;)
-
It's a cover!
-
Damn fine as covers go.

o.o;;
*huggles*
Fuck the fuck off, jackass.
-
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"
-
 Why do our avatars look so similar?
-
No clue.
God it's funny that you've probably had that same avatar for 5 years now...and you're still leaching it from BWTF.com...
-
I've never had my own computer.
-
Hosting an image has nothing to do with owning a computer.
-
Hmm. I think I'll just go ahead and um. Pretend I knew that.
-
And I'll pretend like you don't smell like someone sweaty farted a hearty beef fart in a greasy Chinese bag and stapled it shut...
-
No clue.
God it's funny that you've probably had that same avatar for 5 years now...and you're still leaching it from BWTF.com...
Ha ha ha! Seriously? ROCK.
-
God damn right.
-
Yeah, right click his avatar and go to properties. God Megs, it's a wonder you get away with posting on the Ass-spank every now and then... If an asshole like Defunct or one of those Nintendo whores took the time to do what I did, you'd start getting pimply hate mail. "Bandwidth theft! Bandwidth theft!" They'd scream in shrill unison, as they alerted Ben Yee of BWTF.com to issue you a "cease and desist".
God they're gay over there... Oh and hey, you didn't deny that you smelled like sweaty China farts... Wow.
-
Yeah, shut up. But I don't even know how to host an image. It just never really felt neccessary.
-
You sign up for webspace, be it on Freewebs, Photobucket or any other place that allows remote loading of images--hell even Nuri or myself could host it... After that, you put the ul of the avatar in your settings and you're done.
-
Or, you know, he could just upload the damn pic to the board. It's only 8k
I've never had my own computer.
how do you post here then? At the library with the homeless guys and wierd people?
-
Yeah, shut up. But I don't even know how to host an image. It just never really felt neccessary.
Merla will be glad to know she's not the only one inept in this category.
....you'd start getting pimply hate mail. "Bandwidth theft! Bandwidth theft!" They'd scream in shrill unison, as they alerted Ben Yee of BWTF.com to issue you a "cease and desist".
Fuck ceast and desist. Ben Yee should do what he did last time replace all the hotlinked images with the jizzing emoticon. No, wait, that was me. Ah, good times....
-
Good times indeed!
-
Or, you know, he could just upload the damn pic to the board. It's only 8k
I've never had my own computer.
how do you post here then? At the library with the homeless guys and wierd people?
Homeless guys poo in the library.
-
I used the internet in the library for about a year (1996-1997) before I got my own computer. In those first few months, it was very few people and especially few homeless. How I miss the library being homeless-free, before the notion of free pr0n brought them in droves...
-
Do you miss the sound of a homeless guy fapping?
-
I never heard it, thank goodness.
-
They actually let them look at pr0n in the library? That's against the rules here. If they catch you doing it they can ban you from using the library comp[uters. And no I don't know that cause I got caught looking at pr0n. One of my best buds mom is head of one of the local libraries here and is up to take over the whole district when the current manger retires and she told us about catching and banning someone for doing just that.
-
I'd go to some library not near my house, and just look up the nastiest pr0n ever just so the librarians could go home and tell their cats about how much of a freak I am.
-
you dont need to do that to show them how much of a freak you are. just walk by and they'll know
-
HA! You're just jealous about how good I look in hotpants.
-
It's like a 3rd Banana in Pajamas.
-
The 3rd, retarded one that the first two keep in the closet...
-
I'm a plantain, dumbass.
-
Now I want chimichurri sauce. :(
-
On a nice steak? Yeaaaaaaaah.
-
They actually let them look at pr0n in the library?
No, but that doesn't mean people don't do it. And then of course you have just plain risque images that are pr0n to some and not to others...
I think they might've actually allowed it, or at least some mild level of it at a time, because not that many people used the computers to begin with. I remember an article years ago talking about how the library needed more of those screen thingies (the ones that it make it difficult for other people to view the monitor) to "protect the children" or whatever. I'm certain they don't allow it now though.
