Title: Came Very Close Last night....
Post by: Wickedly Yours E on Aug 29, 2004, 11:10:54 AM
So he's got this thing that he uses the computer every Saturday at six..which is fine. Yesterday though, About five to six I take about a minute and a half to go put some ice cream in the fridge, and he snatches the computer while I had everything still up.
It's computer ETIQUETTE MAN. You don't take the computer while someone's stuff is still up! You wait for the guy to come back to finish up and close everything down.
SO he gives me the lamest apology....and he insists I've done the same thing to him, which is BULLSHIT because I make it a point never to do it. So after some arguing, he Throws a fuss and Picks up one of the chairs and starts hitting me with it.

....He swings like a girl, swear to god. No Force at ALL in his swings. He got two shots in while I was standing there going "...Oh my GOD. You really DON'T Have any strength in your arms." So When he goes for the third swing, I stop it and Take a swing at his head......But I pulled it back so it hit his shoulder instead. Grrrr. Looking back, I should've tackled him and beat his head into the floor....DAMN my lack of agressive tendencies.

*Tisk* Typical men with their over-agressiveness.

Girls would have just started screaming at each other and eventually split ways.

See, I misread the title as "Cave Very Close Last night..., To beating up abro".  And suddenly the image of backwater Matt flailing his limbs over a downed Phil LaMarr popped into my brain...

Well, you could say that my use of the word "intelligent" was wrong, or you could say that there is not a single word in the language we all agree to speak, which happens to have more recognized words than any other language ever spoken, that would have been appropraite for the already satirical statemnet that I was making.

Or you could say fuck it, who cares what words really mean, and simultaneously be opposed to abortion.

You can be against abortion, and still pro choice. I think abortion is bad, but in some cases, it's a necessity. Life does NOT begin with a few cells. If so, you commit homicide every day, with the death of thousands of bacteria.

A few cells is alot different than an embryo, in my opininon.  But I don't like to say things that might bring the ire of what seems to be a majorly pro-choice community.  I think I'm the only open Republican here (I'm not voting for Bush or Kerry, but call myself Republican).

So,  anyway, I'm having tacos for dinner, how bout the rest of ya?

An Embryo is the same. If you removed it from the womb, would it still live? No, so it doesn't have a soul. You're killing a physical form, since a soul does not die.

Plus Jesus believed in reincarnation... so nyah.

I'm also against abortion, but pro-choice, and it is as conflicting as it sounds.  I would rather not have embryos and whatnot be killed in the first place, but at the same time if it comes to that 1) the world is overpopulated enough and there are enough unfed, uncared-for kids;  2) why bring a kid into the world just to be a lousy parent to it?  "it was an accident" or "i thought he pulled out in time" or "i forgot to use a condom" aren't good enough reasons to bring an entire new life into the world.  And my taxpayer money shouldn't have to go to Jimmy Mistake to begin with.

I mean, would you want a kid from an emotional time? Also, what about:

Somewhat related, one of my idiot cousins got knocked up again.  She's my age, married and this is her third kid (I don't know how many this makes for the husband though), but yeeesh, we don't need any more of either of them in this world.  Not to mention I really don't think they can provide for a third w/o some sort of assistance.

Also, one of the idiots at work knocked up his fifteen year old gf AGAIN.

I'm tired of all of these people carelessly bringing more people into the world, people they will most likely make suffer the same way they suffered as children.

Dude, you win.

If I ruled the country, everyone would be "fixed" at a certain age and have to petition the government to have a child.  They would need to get a parenting license (involving a least a year of classes and of course an exam) and either be able to show proof that they can support another person or have to apply for government support (in which they would need a certain level of education, a steady stable residence and/or a certain level of employment to get approval).  Any cases involving child abuse, drug use, or other criminal activities would be denied license.  Any parent with dropped out kids or criminal children already would also be denied license.  The license would not be denied to unmarried people, homosexuals, or the poor (who like I said, if upstanding, would qualify for aid anyway).  The license would provide for one pregnancy (aids that could produce multiples must have approval) after a certain time the couple would be fixed again.  But alas, only in Nuri's perfect world... filled with donuts that make no one fat.

A British hospital is now investigating the case of a woman who had an abortion, but then was shocked to find out the head of her unborn baby had been left inside her.

Davina Chambers, 29, became pregnant this year with her fourth child, but she had just been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, a disease eating away at her liver.

"In January, I was a patient at King's College Hospital because I was jaundiced," Chambers told the Voice, which bills itself as Britain's best black newspaper. "The doctors wanted me to stay in the hospital, but after a week I told them that they had to let me out because I had to go home to take care of my three children. My children have always been my priorities. They're my angels."

Chambers became an outpatient at the facility, going in for checkups every two weeks as she needed continual monitoring.

It was during routine medical tests she discovered she was 12 weeks pregnant.

"At the time I was taking eight tablets a day and had all this radiation from the scans, so I couldn't believe that I could be pregnant," she told the paper.

Chambers made the difficult decision to have an abortion.

"I started thinking about it. Here I am very ill, already with three children, and I was very depressed because of the medication I was on."

She was booked into the hospital for the procedure, and even chose to have a coil contraceptive inserted to prevent any future pregnancies.

"When I woke up on the ward, they said that I had had three scans and everything was fine," she told the Voice.

But once she returned home, an unseemly problem began to make itself known.

"At midnight, my ex-partner knocked on the door to chell if I was all right. ... I went to the bathroom and as I was sitting there, I just felt something slip out of me as if I had just given birth. I looked in the toilet and saw this lump that seemed to have a bone in it. So I showed it to my former partner."

The couple realized they were looking at the face of their unborn child, seeing the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. The tiny head measured no more than 4 centimeters.

"We just broke down and cried at what we were seeing. We couldn't believe it," Chambers sobbed to the paper.

"I phoned an ambulance and they took me to the hospital to make sure that no other parts were left inside of me. They said I could have died if it had stayed inside me."

She was able to discuss the situation with the doctor who had performed her abortion.

"He leaned over my bedside and said, 'I am so sorry. In all the procedures I've done, I've never come across this,'" she said. "He even tried to take the head away, but I said I wanted to keep it because we wanted to have a proper burial."

A distraught Chambers is now seeking legal advice on what to do next.

"I feel as if I'm going insane now; I can't just let this happen to me," she said.

A spokeswoman for King's College Hospital told the Voice: "We are aware of this patient and we did receive a complaint. We are now investigating but we cannot release any information until our investigation is complete

That's medical negligence!

What was funny, is a doctor called the pharmacy before, and stated:

"Until Florida changes it's malpractice laws, I WILL not be writing any more perscriptions."

Kinda creepy, but maybe it's for the best.

There is one passage in the Bible that deals specifically with the act of causing a woman to abort a pregnancy that the fundie anti-choice faction has apparently never read. And the penalty for causing the abortion is not what many would lead us to believe:

Quote
And if men struggle and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise. Exodus 21:22-25

So a woman loses her child by being stuck by men who are fighting. Rather than it being a capital offense, however, it is relegated to a civil matter, with the father-to-be taking the participants to court for a settlement. But, if the woman is killed, a "life for a life," then the men who killed her shall be killed.  Babies don't have teeth when they are born, and it is highly unlikely a baby will be burned during birth. Obviously this part refers to the mother. Sooo, if the baby is lost, it does not require a death sentence -- it is not considered murder. But if the woman is lost, it is considered murder and is punished by death. Hmmmm....  <_<

My sister is rabid anti-choice; my brother & I are rabidly pro-choice, so a lot of tongue biting goes on. I respect everyone's right to an opinion.  But if I'm faced with a forced-birth asshole, like that senator from South Dakota who wanted to outlaw abortion entirely, EVEN IN CASES OF RAPE AND INCEST, I'll attack and it won't be pretty.

Amusing story; take it at face value, but I don't think she'd have any reason to make it up.  A friend dated the son of a local Republican politician for about a year and the abortion debate came up.  Now dad is rampantly against, but son laughed that off, saying that he personally knew of four of our fair state's most vocal opponents who had sent their daughters off for "a ski weekend in Switzerland"; an updating of the old "attending school in Switzerland this year" code phrase from the days when the girl went out of the country for the duration and the child was usually taken before she was even revived from the anesthetic.   IOW, the family was rich enough to both send the girl out of the country for her abortion and make sure nobody mentioned it lest it ruin the patriarch's political aspirations or standing in the community.  All the highly-respectable friends nod sagely and commend Dad for doing the right thing by his family and then go to the titty bars or whatever old rich white guys do after orchestrating other people's lives.

People with money will always have access to safe, clean abortion, no matter what the law says.  Everyone else can take their chances with knitting needles or massive doses of certain herbs.

haha sounds like my highschool is republican then(can be, cause the nuns and most of the teachers are americans). In all the history of my school, theres just one girl who got pregnant and had the baby. But they kicked out of the school before she gave birth. The nuns and the parents association got together and decided she had to go because that could alter the image of the school.

I've heard rumors of a couple of girls in my class that came to the US or to another country to have an abortion, but im not 100%sure.

Murder Beatings, torture, etc are all done by choice as well. While God says he is against it, there are still wars and the like  going on every day. So if abortion is banned and illegal, then so should violence. But still, violence is part of our society, as it's a result. Aborition is a result in some cases. I doubt any woman looks forward to it, nor is she the same after it. But it is a neccessity in cases.

And whoever said God was good? If he was, evil wouldn't exist. God is both good and evil. In all holy books, God is good and evil.

tom hit the nail on that one.

Kerry is against abortion also, HOWEVER, he doesn't feel he has the right to make this manner of serious personal decision for anyone and has said repeatedly that abortion is between a woman, her doctor, and her God.   Notice the absense of the man in the picture, as he has at least had the courtesy to research the statistics regarding how many men hang around after the prospect of an unwanted child dawns before spouting drivel about how promoting "traditional" marriage (which has certainly changed since the days of Abraham poking the maid because his wife was barren with God's blessings, hmm?) will solve all problems and make abortion unnecessary.

"Promoting marriage".... So what, the Prez sends you a nifty autographed "Marriage is Kewl!" poster and a gift card to Chili's if you respond before the deadline?

Actually, most christians consider the Bible a instructions manual or the direct word of God not to be altered or manipulated to read the way you want it to read.

And in fact, at least the Old Testament (Torrah if you're Jewish) IS partly a instruction manual, especially for Jewish law. And, as it was being written in the distant past, it was a set of laws on how the Hebrew Jews had to live. The whole "Eye for an eye" on spousal abuse law that Bernie mentioned was one of those Hebrew laws. I'm sure many people really were stoned to death or killed or punished for breaking one of those laws.

Of course, many of those laws barely apply today, and hopefully no one considers taking part in the forms of punishment described there (although it might be great fun to stone certain people to death   )

Which brings me to one of my major problems with fundamentalists: Whose interpretation is correct?  Dear old King James VI/I (depending upon whether one is in Scotland or England)? Was the correct version in 1611 or does one of the revised versions carry the official "Jehovah-approved" sticker?  The Latter-Day Saints have something to say about that with the Book of Mormon.   Was Adam's first wife Lilith (according to Judaeism) off shopping when the Christian interpreters began recording their versions?

Frankly, a lot of these earth-shaking dilemas that become campaign platform planks could be alleviated if people would just mind their own fucking business.
