I only make this topic because I see no mention of it. Is anyone else watching it? I'm in love with this show. It's only flaw is Brooke Burke, who I find heinously annoying. Jordis is my favorite right now, but Ty and JD Fortune are great, too. And Suzie's hawt, as well as Daphna and Tara. INXS and Dave Narravo, well no words can be said. I'm gonna see if I can copy the music off of my copies of the episodes myself, instead of buying them. I don't think they'll re-air the first one tho', and I really wanted Jordis' version of Baba O'Reilly. Also, I'm glad Wil's gone. He was kinda creepy. He was getting slobberies on the mic or somethin', man.... And that chick, Dana, who left the first night.... weird.

Deanna doesn't feel her song...which is like "I hate me for Loving You" Or something. Brandon has the fashion sense of Daniel Boone, Daphna's got a Drew Carey Mimi Mascara thing going, and that one chick who's Hair reminds me of The Predator isn't much into Fashion.

I could gleam all of that, but it was annoying to have to read it. I watch Rockstar:INXS because I love rock music. Hearing is crucial.
And that chick's name is Jordis. My Tai Chi teacher had hair like that. Somewhere between the end of the Fall semester and the beginning of the Spring semester, she got tired of it and lopped them off. She had had them for like seven years or somethin'.

And I hope Deanna tanks with her song choice. Don't think she'll get voted out if she does though. She has a great voice but not for INXS.
As for who goes home, I'm thinking Tara might. She just sounds too country in everything she sings. I don't see people voting differently. Watch it be Tara and Suzie, joined by Brandon. He's the one doin' "Sweet Home Alabama", right? And dressed that like I'm not sure how well it bodes. Unless MiG tanks "Walk This Way". But MiG's the Aussie so I don't want him to go.
And that JD Fortune is really beginning to grow on me.

It's fucking Sweet Home Alabama. EVERYBODY Loves that fucking song! Anyone in this INXS crew can sing it and if they get put in the bottom three, I'll be damn near floored. ..How the fuck can you TANK on "Sweet Home Alabama"? And if Brandon's the one singing it, I admit his style choice is.....way too damn retro to put it mildly.

Well he did a lot better than Neal and the heinous murder of "Summer of '69". What the hell was that? It appears that guy can't do melody at all. He's definetely gonna have to fight to live next show. Jessica didn't follow direction at all (she sounded the same as ever) and Deanna mauled a perfectly good REM song (but I think we all expected that from the previous show). So those are my bottom three.
JD, MiG, and Jordis rocked it.
Ty WAS too theatric but I love him anyway. I can see why INXS would be concerned. With someone like Ty fronting the band, it would be incredibly easy to forget the rest of them were there.
Daphna, Heather, and Tara were great.
Marty and Suzie were okay. So was Brandon, but he was better than those two. Suzie really needed a much better song choice. If she's back in the bottom three this week, I won't be surprised.

Jordis was fucking awesome. Suzie did alright too, I liked Roxanne. And Marty, as always, was sweet too.
Also, did you notice that almost EVERYONE was acknowledging the house band more?

I managed to make myself a CD of music from the show, though the quality is a bit questionable. As far as software goes, it's free stuff, so I may have to look into something to refine sound in the future. Kinda sounds like when I used to record songs from the radio onto tape.
Not that most of the ppl on the show can't sing, but I found I didn't want anything Brandon, Deanna, Heather, or Jessica did. (And certainly not Wil, peeeee-yew!) I really wished they had re-aired that first episode so I could've snagged some more music. Dammit.

Last nights ep was good. J.D's a dick, and If he attempts to sing that horrid "Hip Hop" rearrangement of "We are the CHampions"......That's grounds for murder right there.

I don't think he was really dissin' them. He was just trying to show his love of INXS and kiss a little ass, but worded it wrong in the process. He seems a little neurotic and scatterbrained, but not malicious.
Anyway, what the hell was up with people tonight? Jordis, Suzie, and Ty were the only ones that gave solid performances. MiG was all right. Can't go wrong with a little strippage either. JD mangled Queen, Brandon squished Squeeze, and Daphna slaughtered the Clash. On "Rock the Casbah", no less! My favoritest Clash song! I had to slap Combat Rock into my CD player and listen to it continously just to get the bad taste out of my ears. Heather and Marty did loads of weird mumbling, which was sad because in the stronger parts of their respective songs, they had loads of energy. Tara was a little boring and little too country. Deanna and Jessica missed notes and were just blah. Not a good week. I don't particularly want any of these songs. Maybe Ty's, I guess. And "I'm sick", "It's my sister"...? Nobody wants your excuses, just sing dammit.

Heather, Daphna, and Jessica in the bottom three, and frankly they should've saved themselves the trouble and booted all three of them out instead of just Heather and Daphna. Jessica was not much stronger than the other two. A double whammy though! Not really shocking anymore with some other shows having done this sort of thing before.
I don't see how JD is sucking more each week. He was very strange in his first performance and in this week's but "California Dreaming" and "One Hand In My Pocket" really rocked. In fact, CD got him an encore. I do think his days may be numbered if he (and Brandon) turn out to have the same problem as Neal and Daphna, where they sing in one key. And I also think Tara, Deanna, and Jessica are right next to the chopping block. Maybe the next clinic will help them out, since they said it was going to be on the voice. The top contenders right now are Jordis, Ty, and MiG, with Marty and Suzie at their heels.

Tara's performance on Tues. told us right away she was going home. She made "Message in a Bottle" so blah. You could hear the back-up vocals better than hers at times. And then when she performed Beautiful Girl, I don't think she was completely there.
Jessica really pulled a nice performance, but I don't see her keeping it up. Same for Deanna.
Poor Ty not knowing that song. INXS got on him about it and I'm like "bleh, I don't know it either, jerkholes". They're lucky I've even heard of the Foo Fighters. I think Ty's theatrical feel is a bit of a problem. Hmmm....
What the hell did JD do to "the Letter"? They loved it. I thought it came out mangled. JD is definetely the "evil" one of the bunch, manipulating Suzie that way. Was it really necessary? Nope.
I think Jordis can sing just about anything. She's the only one I voted for this past week and so far, she's the only one who's been consistently good from the very beginning.

Yah. I think INXS'll be looking at consistancy more than "One Hit wonders". Jordis has been the one to consistantly be awesome. Ty's theatric's bug me a bit...JD....If JD somehow ends up in the bottom two, I Think INXS'll kick'em out cause of his attitude. Would you want to work with a scatterbrain like that 2 hours a night +?

Interesting article. Anti-Rockstar, but I agree with all of the cons of the show.
Monday show: I don't appreciate it just being zapped away from me. I don't remember anything about catching the show on VH1 on Sundays being advertised with Wed.'s show or the website, and VH1's apparent offering of it is no where to be found on my program guide (with the Monday showing replaced by another helping of Two and A Half Gay Ass Men). Even the local TV listings that come with the paper show it on Monday and nothing on Sunday. So no one can agree on anything or somethin'. Will I live w/o it? Yes. Is it annoying regardless? Yes. They only got 3 million viewers before and now I'm certain they've lost over half of them. If you want to kill something fast, just jumble it around so no one can freaking watch it.

Why the hell is Suzie doomed to be in the bottom three? I love Jordis, but last night she bored the crap out of me. She completely made that song pop instead of rock. Ty completely raped that Rod Stewart song. J.D. wasn't sounding too hot either. Suzie was totally in the top three for the past two weeks and she's being punished by the already formed fanbases for the other singers.

I was really pulling for J.D. in the begining. His attitude really sucks though. Now I am rooting for Mig. I really liked his rendition of "Baby I Love Your Way". He is also the token hispanic (Okay so he doesn't look it but who cares?). Plus he is HAWT!

JD's attitude will keep him from winning, even if he's now the worst singer there now that Jessica got booted. He's nowhere near the level of Jordiss, Mig, or Marty. Even if by some act of God he gets into the last three? I highly Doubt INXS, who probably have taken his attitude into account, will want to work with the dick. He's too much out for himself, and he's forgetting he's joining a BAND. This Ain't American Idol, it's not just about you.

Unless INXS really wants a hit. JD has had some duds but he can also work teh song magic, as they've all seen. That not being a team player thing though, yeah, it'll probably kill the little guy.
My prediction for the coming week is Ty, Deanna, and Suzie (or JD) in the bottom three, with Ty getting the boot to the ass. It's INXS, not CATS or RENT. You don't get to descend onto the stage wearing a silver cape.

I'm not really a betting person, however I will say that despite all of her talent, I don't think Jordis will win. I thought from the first few weeks that she would but I wasn't too impressed with her last two performances and I don't think INXS was either.
If I have to peg someone to win, I'll say Marty.
EDIT: Scratch that. He's a bit of a queen now that I think about it. There's no way they would get along off the stage. Maybe Suzie. They seem to like her, given that in the elimination, they simply wanted her to showcase her vocals and never hinted once that she would actually be going home.

I love the show. I had my reservation in the begining thinking oh not another singing reality show but now I am hooked. I enjoy watching the performances. Granted I don't like a couple of them and I think most of them are wrong for INXS, but I believe all seven that are left are very talented. My money is on MIg and Marty to be left standing.

Yup. It's one singing show I can actually stand, even if Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke are a couple of cheesy douches.
Anyway, I really hope Suzie doesn't end up in the bottom three again. While I don't have a bottom three, I have a top three: Suzie, J.D. and Deanna. Ty was more theater than he ever was, MiG's song wasn't that good, Marty was all weird onstage, and Jordis had checked out on that perfomance. The powet of editing is displayed as the poor decision was made to cut to the backup singers and then to Ty during the "appropriate" moments in Proud Mary. Would've work in a comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg, but just looked corny here. And airing that thing about Jordis being nervous made it even worse for her when she was on stage.

My top three are Suzie, J.D., and Mig (I didn't care for his song though).
My bottom are Jordis, Ty, and Deanna. Marty was strange last night. In fact he was scaring me. I think Ty should go home but I wouldn't mind seeing Deanna go home was well. Ty performance was too theatric for INXS, at times it seemed cheesy. Deanna had a good performance. However, her original song was forgetable and she was doing some werid movements on stage. I don't think either Ty or Deanna are what INXS needs. Jordis had a bad night but I don't think she will be going home this week. I really hope Suzie is not in the bottom three. She does not belong there. Her problem is that she failed to develop a fan base. In the first show she forgot her lyrics and later was portrayed in a negative light when comments she made to Neal about his voice were aired. She would be good for INXS but with their decline they really need someone the people love.

Jordis could've ripped her own skin off and revealed herself as Satan and I still don't think she would've been in the bottom three.
What I can't believe is that the show was an hour long. WHY? If I had actually been home and watching it live, I would've been squirming the entire time. There's nothing worse than when they pad a show to fit a time slot. Luckily it was a recording and I fast-forwarded through like thirty-five minutes of it.
I think in the performance of INXS songs Deanna > Ty by a mile, but I'm guessing INXS already had decided that Deanna didn't suit their style. And Marty's getting weirder and weirder!

I already corrected you at home but it was Marty not Neal. And I think Suzie is starting to grow on people. From the 80s. They had hits like "Sucide Blond", "New Senesation", "Devil Inside" , and "Need you tonight." Their old lead singer killed himself, hence the search for a new one.
I'm afraid this show will be the height of the "New" INXS. I doubt we will ever hear from them again after this show. And I also have a gut feeling they will not pick a woman as their lead singer, but I've never seen the show because I try to avoid Reality TV so I don't really know to much about HOW they choose the winner.

They then spent the next seven or so years with no lead singer, who knows what they were doing in the meantime. As for why you've never heard of them..., well we can't hear of everybody. You've most certainly have heard at least one their songs, even if you didn't know who you were listening to.
Anyway, I'm still pegging Ty on going home next. Unless Suzie's botches "Bohemian Rhapsody" and I'm reeeally hoping she doesn't, 'cause I would love a nice Suzie McNeil cover of that song to go with "Losin' My Religion" and "Start Me Up".... I'm liking the idea of Suzie McNeil fronted INXS more and more all the sudden. The front runner through is appearing to be MiG.

Jordis in the bottom three. Oooh, I guess 'Imagine' wasn't riveting enough to make people forget last week. One thing that bothered me about the elimination show, besides the fact that they've apparently bloated to an entire hour now, is that INXS was right. The bottom three gave lack-luster performances. It's like all three of them checked out from this competition. I think all three of them were getting a bit arrogant... like they don't have to try and even be a part of any band.
And of course Ty's gotta flash the race card before he leaves. Like I didn't expect that. What-EVA. Maybe if his ass had given it his all and he dropped some of the gospel/soul crap when he saw it wasn't doing him any favors, he'd still be on show. If INXS wanted soul, they would've kept Deanna, the end. INXS is moving towards soul? I don't think so. And messing up lyrics, INXS lyrics no less, pleads no one's case.
Next week's prediction, J.D permenantly checks out and moves back into the box he was living in before the show. Where the hell is the J.D. that gave us "California Dreaming" and "One Hand in my Pocket"? He dead! He dead! I think Jordis and J.D. may continue the decline, with either Suzie or Marty joining them in the next bottom three. MiG seems to be the golden child right now.

On the voting site, there seemed to be an indication they may have them perform more originals. If this is the case, MiG or Suzie are going home. I said to Merla during the performance show when MiG opened his shirt, "Nope, he's not going in the bottom three." MiG's fans saved him this week (as Jordis' did for her one week), but another week of suckage is gonna hurt him. My advice to MiG and Suzie, suck up to J.D. and get some help on your songs!

Well, he never did say what the JD stood for.... But yeah, Merla was digging "Trees" more.

I liked "Trees", too but I still liked JD's better. (They needed to give him a megaphone though.) When I tried making MP3's my Pretty Vegas one came out tons better than the Trees one. But a lot of other people appear to have made their own of "Trees", so I think I'll save myself the trouble and use one of theirs'.
And my DVR thingy! I love that thing don't get me wrong, but there's all kinds of fixes that can stand to be done to it. Though I'm sure it's not the satellite company's fault, CBS has Rockstar as a half-hour show this past Wed., cutting it off halfway through (much to my horror). Then VH1 had all three shows listed from 4:00 - 6:00, with a half-hour house show, the perfomance show, and a half-hour elimination (which it was not, of course). But instead, they appear to have started the house show @ 3:30, making the performance start at 4:00 and end, according to the guide used to record, a half hour within itself! The result, I had no way to record the elimination program in it's entirety! I have one half-hour from CBS and the other half hour from VH1, which I obtained by choosing to record the half-hour elimination show (of which, if I lost you, doesn't exist because the elimination show is now an hour) in my guide! WHEW! Since this isn't the first time VH1/MTV/NICK and it's associated network (VIACOM?) have jerked me around schedule wise, I blame them entirely for this. :angry:

INXS likes JD, but at the same time, they'll still suspicious of him. He did good at the interview, but didn't quell their doubts that he won't stir up trouble with the band. And Pretty Vegas by *Andrew Farris* and J.D. Fortune? What did he do to the song?
INXS wasn't too impressed with MiG. It's not that they don't like him but he's a little too vanilla. But if he can present edge with Paint It, Black and quit trying to put them to sleep or make them cry with sappy-ass ballads, he could easily jump to their first choice. I don't think he can really pull off the INXS songs yet. Once he actually has to perform one, I see him not doing so well.
They're impressed but iffy with Marty. Andrew Farris didn't really appreciate Marty more or less giving them career guidance. "This is where you should go... This is what you should do..." So he's bossy and he still screams a little too much. Like J.D., one of Marty's song's is his original, "Trees".
INXS really likes Suzie. She has a powerful voice, she has tenacity, she's hawt, and she's done justice over and over again with their music, which is a big selling point for them. She more or less tanked the interview though. I think nerves got the best of her. She needed to show a little more of the Suzie that dives her mouth head first into an asscake. Instead she crossed her arms and looked a bit withdrawn. But like one of the group said, when it comes to interviews and handling the media, maybe all she needs is a little guidance and work. She seems to be fine when being interviewed in various segments of the show. I wish we had seen her song selections.

Suzie was awesome tonight. I really hope she gets the number 1 spot, but I think it'll be either Marty or J.D. Judging by tonight, MiG should go home. He did Seal great but the Stones were more or less slaughtered. I would've pegged him to be the one definetely going home but then he took his top off.... And that's saved him before. Hmmmm.

I'm thinking maybe playing the same originals for Marty and J.D. again was a bad idea. It didn't make the playing field even for Suzie and MiG, who were gonna be bottom two no matter what they did. They should've all done covers across the board.
Poor Suzie. =( That sucked. I woke up this morning still bummed out about it. They said it themselves when they called her the best vocalist, so they get rid of her? For Marty the screamer, J.D. the mumbler, and MiG the squealer? (And he does squeal. I like him, but he squeals!) Half of all the votes MiG has ever gotten were earned either by him tearing his clothes off or just being a nice guy, let's admit it.

JD did a horrible job on By My Side, Suzie sang it a few weeks back and it was friggin' Sweet, dammit. I figure the reason she got booted was the Six Time Bottom Three shtick, but it still seems kind of silly how they stacked the votes.

But yeah, I was fan of Pretty Vegas the first time it was performed. It absolutely wowwed me and I made an MP3, repeating it over and over agian. But I watch the show to see different things. Four times on the show was overkill. Not to mention the song was different each time. I fast-forwarded through the encores. Your songs are old, boys. What I didn't realize was that "Pretty Vegas" is apparently the Andrew Farris music they were told to compose lyrics to as a group, thus birthing the lovably heinous "Stop, Go". If I still have the episode where they composed the song, I'll double-chell later but I usually delete anything w/o a song. But if that's so, does that mean he cheated? No one else to my knowledge got to borrow an INXS member to make a song.
At least there's two Joydrop CDs out there to quell my Tara Slone fix. I'll only be really miffed about the Suzie elimination if I can't my grubby paws on any more of her music. She'll be in an MSN chat today, which SUCKS because it starts when I clock in at work! =(

I was looking for Marty's "Hit Me Baby One More Time", "Trees", Jordiss "The Man who sold the world"...Suzie's Bohemian Rhapsody..Nothing JD.....Dammit why am I drawing a blank as to the good stuff now dammit...dammit....I trust your judgment.
I figure I can try to DL some of the songs on a tuesday or thursday, where the bro doesn't get home for a while, but music DLing programs are a No No on this computer as a general consensus in the house due to the history of viruses this thing's picked up.

I can't believe they sent Suzie home. I am starting to think they never wanted a woman to front their band in the first place. They only had women present so no would accuse them of being politically incorrect. I think Mig should have gone home. Don't get me wrong I love Mig but I think his performance was the weakest. They just didn't want to sent the golden boy home his first time in the bottom three. I also think it was wrong to let both Marty and JD perform their Originals. While I like both songs it made for an uneven playing field. It also wasn't fair that JD got to use the farris Music for his orignial. Nuri's right no one else got to borrow a memeber of INXS. It's going to be between Marty and JD. I keep flopping back and forth as to who has the edge. Right now I am think it's going to be Just Dick.

WELL, to be fair, Suzie has been in the bottom three six times. Just DIck won't win at all, cause in a contest between Marty and JD, Marty's gonna win based on personality. JD's displayed himself to be quite the asshole that doesn't work well with others, and despite his talent and ability, I highly Doubt INXS will want to risk it with JD.

I'm sad the show's over now. I *really* want to go to one of the shows of the tour though. I bought the Rockstar shirt and the Night at the Mayan CD (only 13.99 @ Best Buy), just in time for the finale. On the back of the shirt, there's all these dates. Don't know if that's for the tour or not. One of the cities is Austin (pretty damn close) and another is... whoops, New Orleans. I think they just might skip that venue. :joe:
One thing that worries me is that the show might go on, as they want ppl to apply to be a rockstar. They could do one of two things: do the disgusting American Idol route and just try to find the new Kelly Clarkson... er, J.D.Fortune? What I hope they do is find another band looking for a lead singer. Even if it's for a new band or something. If they didn't, it'd just mess with the whole format of the show.
By the way, Bohemian Rhapsody, MiG? Blech. You should've heeded Marty and chosen another song. Suzie did it loads better. And you should've taken off your shirt.

I don't think it sucked. I thought it was just really, really strange... which was neat.. The website kinda sucked though.
J.D. and INXS had an article in the paper yesterday. The writer, aside from calling the band an "it" instead of a "them" which just sounded wrong, immediately clung to the Elvis thing. (I would've used the living out of his car thing myself...) Then she kept harping on about "American Idol". This isn't American freaking Idol. The music is older, considerably less faddier and poppier, the contestants are older, less jailbaitier, and in many cases more experienced, and they can't just be good but they have to be good for INXS. They didn't go out of their way to humilate hopefuls with a giant degrading audition segment. Aside from general unknowns that sing with a voting system hosted by an annoying personality (Seacrest, Brooke Burke) it's different.

I can't speak for regular ol' radio because I don't normally listen to it, however on the music system used in the bookstore, which plays 80's, 90's, and modern I heard "Pretty Vegas" today. Unfortunately, I had customers at the time so I couldn't gauge how good (or bad) it sounded in full-form. I still think his best rendition of it was the very first time he performed it. Small things in the subsequent performances just felt out of place. Like Dave Navarro's nifty little riff. Cool, but distracting.

One other thing of note, I've been listening to a few Tara Slone tracks, both from when she was in Joydrop and her upcoming solo effort. "Beautiful", "My Little Secret", and "We Were Stars" are neat songs. I had observed in Rockstar she had a bit of a twang to her voice, like she was a country western singer or something. This feature is notably lessened in everything non-Rockstar I've heard from her.
I also sat through most of "Soul Life", Suzie McNeil's original. It's really not as bad as I thought it initially was... And MiG. Why the hell didn't he go home earlier? He was energetic and cool, but re-watching some of his stuff it seems more and more he should've gone home way before some of the others. They would've been better off giving Ty some more guidance. At least he had a voice they could've worked with. MiG had the same problems as Deanna and Jessica, where they had a limited range. Not as limited as Daphna Dove. Hearing her stuff again is almost painful, and I liked her when I first saw her.
