Title: Should I pay money to dl anime?
Post by: The D on Jun 30, 2005, 09:50:18 PM
I cannot download any anime that's not out on DVD. Torrents refuse to work at school even though I try to tell them to search ports I know are open. Most file sharing programs don't connect at all to their networks when I use them, except for emule.

There are large communities out there that have dedicated servers where you can download fansubs. The problem is these communities require a fee, such as $6 a month, to access the anime.

Should I sign up for one of these? I swear if I can not download fansubbed anime soon, I'll kill someone of my choosing in some horrible way, probably by running them over and then stabbing them with a rusty railroad spike. I'm sick of not being able to see the stuff everyone else is watching.

$6 a month doesn't sound like a lot of money. But what do I know.

Distributing fansubs and anime is one thing. When you start paying for it then it's really hard not to think of it as piracy.

Well in this case they say it's for bandwith and server fees, which I can kinda see if you're hosting, say, 140 episodes of Naruto, and 26 episodes of several other series, and x amount of episodes for other series, and each episode is 150-300mb each.

Six bucks doesn't seem like a whole lot to me either.  Why, you could keep a third world child alive for months.

Or keep 3 first world children dead forever!
