Title: Will Hurricane Harvey kill Nuri?
Post by: B E C K on Aug 25, 2017, 11:44:23 PM
The fucker's landed.  My laptop and cell phone are fully charged, water's bottled, and emergency meatloaf's on standby.  Now we wait.  :joe:

Totally stupid, but I laugh every time I see footage of all of these busted-ass people buying up water.  Your asses don't even drink water.  Stick to stocking up on Sunny D and Dr. Pepper and leave the water for the people who actually need it.  Even if they lose powet and water, I bet they still won't be drinking water.

I'm listening to a dude on Telemundo talkin' about the 'cane and I swear he sounds like a Mexican Trump.  Creepy.

So far so good. Only one reported death so far for someone in Rockport. We're supposed to have the heaviest rain and strongest winds tonight, but at least Harvey's back to being a TD.

My bad, Harvey's a TS, not a TD. I heard some people in Houston died but not how many or how.

You are gonna be killed by an invisible rabbit?

I can't rule that out.

I don't want to vote because it feels morbid and I'm just the tiniest bit superstitious. Like, I might cheekily pick the first answer, then you'd suddenly stop posting and I'd be all, "Dear God, I killed her..."

I don't need that shit on my conscience, yo!

I can't rule this out either. Perhaps my life's been in Joe's keyboard this entire time.

And I'd go around telling everyone that Joe killed you.

lol @ the random hick being interviewed on the ABC World News broadcast who referred to the state as "The Republic of Texas." No, Cletus, we legit ain't been that since, like, 1846. We're part of the USA. There's no republic anymore. We've been annexed for, uh, quite a while now.

'kay, since this is sorta the Harvey thread. Harvey made landfall again, but much further east. To show you the true variability of SA's weather, over the weekend we were forecasted to have rain the entire subsequent week. Now the forecast is suns with highs in the 90's and not a cloud in the sky since Tuesday. This is, like, NORMAL weather for us: where the east (Houston, LA) gets slammed with water and we have hot and sunny volleyball weather. I didn't want us to flood over here, but really wanted more rain than what we got. There's always Invest 93L in the Atlantic that may come into the Gulf and give us a bit of moisture.

But, really, this storm could've been super dangerous for SA since we can't handle large deluges of water. Not Houstonian levels, but, honestly, I don't know why anyone ever bothers living in Houston anymore.

Volleyball weather you say?

Glad you guys pulled through. The weather's been hot and humid as usual over here in the Land Mass (wetter than usual though), but that may change depending on Hurricane Irma. Between Wednesday and Saturday we're supposed to get cool air and non-million-percent humidity for the first time in recent memory (just in time for the first 3-gun contest of the new season), so something's got to come through and foul that up. We can't have nice weather for long.

We pulled through but the populace in general is so fucking stupid it caused a gas shortage.  People thought there was a gas shortage, completely forgetting the part where we get most of our gas from Houston.  With Houston in the shits, we'll have to get gas elsewhere and the extra transport takes a while.  But all of these dumbasses start hoarding all the gas in trashcans, tea containers, and paint cans and cause a real storage.  Other than that, yeah, Harvey barely touched us.  I was able to open the windows and enjoy a nice breeze.  It barely rained though.

Now Irma, aka the former Invest 93L... sheesh... it looks like a monster.  I mean, I almost want Irma to come into the gulf so it can give us some rain but I doubt it'll get too far past Florida.  Even it came into the gulf, it'd just deluge Houston again and they don't need that shit.  Jose's also coming this way.  I don't know why people at work think that Irma's gonna influence Jose tho', since Jose's too far away from Irma for the Fujiwhara Effect.  I don't think they realize Atlantic hurricanes all come from the hot air of the Sahara and just think "oh, it came after that second hurricane, they must be related."

I live in Austin, but I was out of town for work when the hurricane hit TX.  When I got back, there was a fucking gas shortage that made no sense.  Also, I couldn't fly into Austin -- I had to take a $900 one-way into San Antonio from Miami and take a $110 Uber to get home.  Luckily the client pays for that.

Well Jose and Irma use to date and it wasn't exactly the best break up. Irma has been driving by Jose's house and telling other girls to stay away from her man, so Jose might just stay out to sea rather then risk running into her at the club...and by the club I mean the Gulf of Mexico.

Don't you guys have like 2 more hurracaines coming your way?

None predicted for Texas right now. Irma will hit FL may affect other southeast states. Jose will likely stay out in sea. Katia will hit Mexico.

The remains of Irma flew over us today. It was crazy cold for this time of year. But, never fear! It will be back in the freaking 90's by Friday.
