Title: Sorry, Joe.
Post by: B E C K on Jun 19, 2016, 07:32:54 AM
I had a shiny Canadian peseta just for you and now I can't find it.  Someone slipped it to me at the Sonic Drive-In instead of giving me a rugged, manly American nickel.

We'd occasionally get Canadian coins when I was a kid. It always confused me because I didn't think we ever had a woman president.

I remember my dad kept some old Canadian banknotes in a picture album, and Elizabeth II was actually kind of pretty back in the day.

We get American coins up here all the time, mostly from visiting hunters, I'd wager.

Maybe the Canadian coin was so sorry you didn't get your right change, that it left to go find you a real nickel.

I guess all we can do now is hope that she eventually gets her Nickelback.

I don't know if I should shake your hand or punch you for that.

I'd vote "punch" but, dammit, I laughed.

That's the problem...it was a Nickelback joke, but it was kinda funny. So confused.

A single neuron in my head is firing off madly, trying to get the other ones to remember because that's familiar to me somehow.  But none of the others are budging.

It was some guy's signature at the Procrastination Station. He probably posted at other ezboards too, but that's where I remember seeing his sig the most.

I don't remember a poster named Siren either, but maybe she had switched to a different handle.

I want to say I DO remember someone called Siren.  Just barely.  Maybe it's why that one neuron keeps throwing its tantrum.  But it's been fifteen years or more.  (Or less?)  I did some poking around to see if I could dig up anything and could only come up with that one time you wanted Comic Sans (https://web.archive.org/web/20020331083514/http://pub4.ezboard.com/fdarthnurikofrm10.showMessage?topicID=638.topic).

Oh, hey, the other day I found your Canadian coin my wallet.  Just post your address and I'll get sent right over to you.  Of course I'll overnight that and buy the necessarily insurance.

Oh man. I used to spend so much time altering images and making animated gifs. I don't think I even have anything like that on this current PC.

Speaking of the mail, years ago I bought a copy of 50 Shades with the intention of sending it to Rama so he could review it. Got his address and everything, and then kept forgetting to send it. Book must still be around here somewhere.

Oh, Joe.  Sending Rama-lama Mormon erotica.

I think my avatar is one of the last animated gifs I've made.  Probably because I forgot what program I was using to do that with.

I remember that. I can get the book from work now, but I don't seem to have time to read books I actually want to read these days. I have opened it to random pages and read a bit here and there just to see and it is pretty bad.

I don't do much in the way of animated gifs these days. Mainly because I misplaced my old GIF Construction Set app and deleted my ancient Photoshop 7 installation. But now that I have PS7 back on my PC I may dabble in it yet again. As for graphic manipulation, I farm that out to one of my nephews these days. He does it quicker and better than I ever did, but I still believe whole-heartedly that a bad photoshop job is totally funnier than a good one.

Semi-relevant, but I'm reading this right now: Lessons From Twilight vs Fifty Shades (http://mythcreants.com/blog/lessons-from-twilight-vs-fifty-shades/).  The site in general has a lot of writing tips (some which I think are really good and helpful) so it could potentially be of interest to you.  I like when they take books and point out how to improve the writing using specific passages.  I haven't listened to any of the podcasts, so no opinion on those.  They also have a section on table top rping that I don't really read as much.
