Ebola man died.  The end is nigh.  No, seriously, is anyone following this shit?  Every day, I just search ebola.  Some news-bitch violated her quarantine the other day in NJ or something.  http://seattletimes.com/html/nationworld/2024776084_apxebolanbc.html  Fucking unbelievable.  This enrages me.  Let's play devil's advocate and say she and the rest of the crew don't have and aren't carrying any ebola.  Is it worth causing a national scare?  Is it worth hampering an investigation should there be a break-out in the area?  Because then she and her crew can't be ruled out when they're not in quarantine.  Fuck you, lady.  And if you google her ass you get a bunch of pics of this smug bitch smiling some shit-eating grin.  NBC News' Chief Medical Editor.  They better can her ass.

Dr. Dingbat had to go to her favorite soup restaurant, don'cha know. I think they should just immolate the whole lot of them right now to be sure.

First they said it wasn't easy to catch, which I guess is how it became pandemic in Africa, right? Then they said it isn't contagious until symptoms show, which is bull because you can excrete virus even if you don't have enough to cause symptoms to arise once it reaches the bloodstream. I heard on the news ther other night where they're cleaning up the dead ebola guy's pad with concentrated hydrogen peroxide, which would be nice if H2O2 did shit to viruses. Then the CDC head honcho was on TV tonight talking about how loading up on personal protective equipment is counterproductive, as if double-gloving up when you walk into an ICU room inhabited by a eating & drinking pustule isn't freaking common sense.

The people who say they don't need to restrict flights and the wanton influx of unknowns in the wake of this aren't just incompetent. They should be dragged out into the street and shot for putting the whole hemisphere in danger of terminal contagion.

Yeah, there's no fucking consistency.  I keep hearing about people removing protective gear or not having the right protective gear.  And when I heard about the screenings, I thought the same thing you did.  All taking a temp for a fever does is show whether or not someone has a fever.  Hell, poor dead Dallas dude should be proof of that.  Wasn't he screened and shit?  And then in Spain they killed the nurse's dog.  But in the states, the dog gets quarantine?  Huh?  Hey, I love animals, but if the dog might carry ebola like they're saying bats, monkeys, and other animals do, then why didn't they put down the damn dog?  And I don't believe this "well, it isn't airbourne, derp" shit for a minute.  I really don't.

The dog thing gets me. I love my dog, but if she gets Ebola I'll be in the market for a new one after the coals die down. Is listening to the radio and a guy was saying fuck quarantine, just incinerate the dogs and the rest were all, "what if the dog is your fur baby," and I just shook my head and hoped they all caught it.

What if you die before her?

I'm so not keeping up with the ebola scare. Don't even know what the symptoms are

Fever, severe headache, muscle pain, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and unexplained hemorrhage. They show within 2-21 days of direct exposure, which is within arm's length of a patient showing symptoms (officially, anyway...you can still project virus without being symptomatic if it's in your bloodstream). Death rate is dependent on quality and promptness of care, but it runs about 50-80% depending on where you are. It's nasty, but it's not an airborne virus at this point, so avoiding people who have or may have it is smart.

I had to go to the ER on Wed.  Well, I went to an Urgent Care and then the ER.  Long story short, 1 a.m. that morning I couldn't fuckin' breathe for whatever reason.  After wasting my entire day here and there, the PA said that everything looked okay and it was, like, a bad fuckin' cold or something.  Which pisses me off that I was freaking out over some shitty cold and I still have the damn thing.  Anyway, when I went in to each place, they're all "HAS U BEEN TO AFRIKA?!wfsbdg."  And I was all "no, but I fucked a giraffe at the zoo."  Ha ha, no, I too busy panicking over my wrongly-perceived lack of oxygen.  But it would've been funny if I said that.

Ah...that explains the step ladder you took with you to the zoo.

I've also been sick, but I didn't go to Doc. Even went to work with no voice...which got me out of answering the phone which I hate doing. Still sick too...got this on Thursday of last week, no voice on Sat, coughing up green shit since. Its real nice.

Yeah, I think they've moved on to measles now. I don't think it's been seen yet where I work (regional hospital) but I hear tell that they're making a big-time come-back in certain areas.

Don't look at me, Mama made sure I got my shots a long time ago!

Is magic autism the only reason people aren't vaccinating their offspring?

My baes are all vaccinated EXCEPT for against tuberculosis. Why? Because it leaves you with a disgusting little hole in your arm that takes like a month to close or even more. I got mine orally (drops) so no nasty looking scars for me. I can't find the oral vaccine anywhere tho, don't know why.

I have to have a TB skin test every year as part of my job. It's subdermal, so the little bubble stays there for a day or so, and they chell it a couple days later to make sure you don't develop a rash around it.

I hate (living) chickens, and I already live on a ranch, more or less...at least I did until I sold the cows and planted pine trees on all 80 acres.

I have a (much older) cousin who had to go to the hospital for shingles last week, and I couldn't visit because I never had chickenpox. So now I'm worried about getting chicken pox every time I wander the hospital floors. I had no idea until a couple days ago that there was a chickenpox vaccine, so the next time I go in for a tuneup I'm going to ask about that.

My first major was bio and i wanted to go into bio med (with a specialisation in genetics). then changed to premed and then it all exploded on my face when i "found out" i was hemophobic. So Im kinda jelly. I was just mentioning the obvious

Many many years ago when I was a wee lass, I won a little chick at a carnival. Since winning chicks at carnivals was pretty popular back then and they would give them out like candy i thought it was going to die soon but the little chick didn't die. She became a huuuuge fat hen that would put an egg each day. The thing was so big it would bully the shit out of my chow chow, she was the queen of the yard, the HBIC. One day I came home from school and she was gone. My heartless mother had given it to the maid so she could take it to her family's bbq. RIP Sir Pollin, gone but not forgotten

Biomed would be a lot more fun job if it weren't for the fact that there are only three of us in our organization of two hospital campuses and a dozen outlier clinics. Hell, I got called in today because of some petty-ante bullshit that had little to nothing to do with us, but it was all "help me Obi-Wan Sha-wiggie, you're our only help". At least I got time-and-a-half for my trouble.

My brother's family has a Rhode Island Red for a pet. My sister-in-law's cousin gave their boys a couple baby chicks some time back, and the only one that survived is...well, I don't know how old it is, but it's old enough that it doesn't put out eggs anymore. But in her prime they had a fresh egg every morning. Additionally there are no insects in the yard...no anthills or anything. The chicken takes care of it, apparently.
