I hijacked this thread - Original Topic: Reboots for Cliffhanger and Stargate have been announced.
Okay, so maybe you want to start a new Stargate franchise or whatever but Cliffhanger? ::) Let's scrape that barrel bottom!
-
Are these both Michael Emmrich or whatever his name is?
-
Roland...and Stargate is at least. I really liked Stargate, but I've seen this guys movies since then and that makes me worried. Godzilla 1998 anyone?
-
Cliffhanger was Renny Harlin. Who only two years later brought us Cutthroat Island and killed Carolco. Hell, maybe we'll luck out and get that long-awaited sequel to The Long Kiss Goodnight. :P
-
And now we have a Predator reboot. Why not just do a proper sequel? As in more fuckers go into the jungle or some shit? (I actually like Pred 2, but I mean a proper sequel as in having more continuity with the story in the first one.) They could even use Arnold, Elpidia Carrillo, and Sonny Landham, assuming they could sober up the latter to do a couple of scenes. "Billy! We thought you were dead!" And he's all "did you see me die, lol." And then the Predator kills him.
-
I just don't understand this. The first Predator was almost a perfect movie. It stands on its own just fine...do a Predator special edition with new effects and stuff.
The cool thing is that the director is the same guy who played the dude with glasses in the original.
-
What Adrian Brody's "Predators" doesn't count?
-
Apparently that one was not a reboot but an in-universe story.
I just don't understand this. The first Predator was almost a perfect movie.
Yeah. Shane Black or no Shane Black, you don't remake perfection like that.
-
I meant as a proper sequel. I didn't think it was that bad.
-
Danger Mouse is also getting rebooted. Unknown if this includes Count Duckula.
-
New predator movie is a sequel, thank the fuck.

-
"Inventive sequel" could be very cool.
-
This time with Bruce Willis in a Die Hard cross over.
Actually...I'd watch that. I'd watch it Hard....er....Harder. Watch Harder. Yeah.

Predator Hard?
-
That'd be awesome. Maybe not as the star at this point, but having John McClane as a side character and tying him into the Predator universe would be fuckin' awesome beyond anything.

Read on Cartoon Brew the other day... Rainbow Brite confirmed for reboot.

A new generation of kids will have something to mastur.... wait, I'm thinking of Gem, aren't I?
-
Jem. And let's not associate masturbation and Rainbow Brite. Please. Let's not. :nono:
-
Strawberry Shortcake on the other hand....oh yeah.
-
She was a tart.
-
There's been like three different versions of her over the years.
-
Read today about a Wargames reboot. UGH.
-
And I forgot to post about Femme!busters. Ghostbusters with chicks instead of dudes. I bet if this goes forward, they cast Melissa McCarthy, two other hotter white chicks (including Kristen Wiig maybe), and Maya Rudolph. Maya will chell off so many diversity boxes pants will be wettened. Hurr hurr. And the plot will involve one of them obsessing over a ghost-boyfriend because "ommagawd so old i needz a man."
-
We talked about this on the old podcast and we came with a cast that Hollywood was likely to throw at us and it included:
Kat Dennings as Venkman
Melissa McCarthy as Ray
Kristen Wigg as Egon
and Aisha Tyler as Winston.
I even cast Bradley Copper as Dan Barret.
-
I can't stand Bradley Cooper's face. lol. I just don't like it. Also, I would prefer more than one minority fem-buster. But we all know that shit won't happen. We'll be lucky if we actually get Aisha Tyler or a black woman at all. We'll be twice as lucky if they don't pigeonhole her into the "sassy" box.
-
I was just gender swapping exactly what was in Ghostbusters. 3 white dudes and one black. Although I think I had Louis Tulley being an Asian chick when we talked about this one on the podcast.
-
I can't stand Bradley Cooper's face. lol. I just don't like it.
If it makes you feel better it has been rumoured he has a small dick.
-
I just pictured a tiny dick with Bradley Cooper's face on it. Disgusting.

Who pleays janine?

I don't know....Michael Cera. There.

I don't know....Michael Cera. There.
And I'm out.
-
So we're getting Fem!busters AND Dude!busters now? This is somewhat confusing.

Wait, what?

-
The fuck is wrong with Sony?
-
Tom Rothman.
-
I really wish Disney would just go ahead and buy the film division of Sony already. They'd get Spider-Man back free and clear and then shit like this wouldn't happen.
-
Bump for Jumanji reboot. I know it's old news but it still enrages me.
-
MacGyver reboot in the works. (http://variety.com/2016/film/news/macgyver-movie-reboot-lionsgate-1201698239/) He can do anything with his trusty cell phone. Nah, I'm just making that cell phone part up.
-
So it was trending on FB that Gael Garcia Bernal's been cast in a Zorro reboot. But... eh, I mean there's been soooo much Zorro shit. Zorro's freaking old and everywhere. You can't really "reboot" that. It's like saying a Sherlock Holmes reboot or a Pride & Prejudice reboot. You don't reboot those things. You just make a new one.
I even checked to see if it was a "Mask of Zorro" reboot but it looks like it's just another Zorro movie since it's not the same studio that made that one. It doesn't even seem to be a "Mark of Zorro" reboot.
[I thought Zorro was in public domain and it turns out there's a big legal dispute about that. Wowee. Could've fooled me. Also, it's apparently set in the near future. So how the eff is that Zorro? http://deadline.com/2016/05/gael-garcia-bernal-zorro-movie-jonas-cuaron-z-sobini-films-lantica-1201752043/ "So... Batman?" lol.]
-
Unless Zorro teams up with The Phantom, The Shadow, and Flash Gordon and we get a Defenders of the Earth style team movie then I don't care.
And Fuck Mandrake the Magician...right in the top hat.
-

Damn, that would be cool. I mean, he is future Zorro so it's possible.
-
It does sound awesome...could have thrown Lone Ranger in there too, but that shitty movie is to near to pull him out again yet. Need another decade.
-
Also, it's apparently set in the near future. So how the eff is that Zorro?
Zorro with light sabers would be money in the bank....
-
Whoa, dial it back there, homes. We both know there's no way they'd make it that freaking cool.
-
Disney would have to buy Zorro.
-
Laser swords aren't exclusive to Retard Wars. That shit's been around forever.
Also, this thread sounds like a porno starting Bob and Dot with special guest appearance by Phong.
-
But Lightsaber is totally trademarked.
So it is Zorro with a Laser Sword or Zorro with a Lightsaber?
-
I don't give a crap about a trademark. I'm not putting millions into making such a movie. Just brand them as laser foils and make them make laser beam noises unlike the lucasabers.
It's ridiculous that Zorro's not public domain already.
-
From: http://blthomas.tripod.com/gertz.htm (lol, tripod)
Q - How did your family acquire the rights to the Zorro image and name from Mr. Johnston Mc Culley?? Or did they pass from Mr. Mc Cully to the Disney Organization and then on to you?
A - My dad, a theatrical agent in Hollywood, bought all the rights to Zorro from Johnston McCulley. He then sold those same rights to Disney. Disney then transferred the rights back again to myself and my twin sister, Nancy.
Reading more about this (I just googled the Zorro rights, really), another website talks about Disney not renewing its option and letting the Zorro rights revert back to the Getzes. Not that they transferred the rights. Maybe it's just poor wording on Gertz Jr.'s part. But I think their problem is they want some sort of vague ownership of everything Zorro. Like, no, son, you have to make specific Zorro things (like the Isabel Allende Zorro series, which the Gertzes personally sought her out to write) and protect the rights to those specifically. Not to Zorro in general. Zorro's too ubiquitous now. Just like with Sherlock Holmes in that later stories and characters added later still have protection but the early shit doesn't.

Bump. So I didn't know that they were making CHiPs movie. Ugh, they're doing that 21 Jump Street kinda shit with that crass, dumbass humor. "Lol, look at those shitty cops. They want pussy and blow shit up." Gross. Estrada and Wilcox are not pleased and I'm glad they're not. Just for the principle of the thing. We all know this shit will make millions and spawn two sequels. :-\
-
Talking about 21 Jump Street. One of the actors from the original series lives in my building. Did I tell you guys that already? (im sick so can't think properly). His name is Dustin Nguyen, he's been in other Hollywood movies too.
-
Dustin Nguyen is your neighbor?! Where the hell do you live? He was in V.I.P. with Pamela Anderson!
-
Holy shit, this is terrible but I remember that guy for one thing: his ex-wife became a quadriplegic in the auto accident that killed the chick that played Trini, the first yellow ranger. That's sad considering he's an accomplished martial artist and has a decent resume but I only know of him because of that. But maybe Faye caught him on Amazing Race Vietnam.
Oh, cool, here's an article about his move to Vietnam. He mentions Faye several times and raves about her candlelit suppers. http://people.com/tv/dustin-nguyen-21-jump-street-star-on-life-in-vietnam/
-
Vietnam, eh? I like to think Robin Williams resides in Vietnam now.
It's what he would have wanted.
-

Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon.
Yeah so I see him at the gym almost every day, we go at the same time. Anyways remember how Ive said before that the "actors height" online is a complete scam? I had to chell his height too and it says he's 1.70. There NO FUCKING WAY he's 1.70, because I am 1.70 and the dude is like 1.65 at the most . Maybe even 1.60.

Was he on it? Didn't know.
The only reality show Ive seen a little was the one with the models and thats because a season of it was recorded in one of the penthouses in my building.
Bet his ass moved over here because no one gave a fuck about him anymore in the US.
-

Yeah, pretty much. He doesn't have much choice when most of the roles written for a Asian man end up going to white dudes and Tilda Swinton.
-

or to one of the Smiths >:( >:( >:(
-
I don't know....Michael Cera. There.
It was actually Chris Hemsworth and he was surprisingly decent in it.
Not sure I loved the entire film but it had some moments.
Aisha Tyler would have been awesome, though. Damn, wish that part had happened.
-
Chris kinda played a combined Dana Barrett/ Jeanie role.
It was kinda strange how they did it. McCarthy's and Jones characters where clearly Ray and Winston....McKinnon kinda played the Egon/Venkman role with Wigg just being a mousey chick.
-

Shit Im paranoid now, maybe he has a google alert that shows him this thread. Should I delete what I said?
-
It's not like it wasn't true tho'.
-
I know , I know.
Brah if youre reading this: you need to do more leg exercises.
-
Oh, does he skip leg day? Are they really tiny baby legs or something?
-
Him and a lot of guys. Id say most of the guys ive seen at the gym are all about arm-day, and no leg-day. You know which ones are the worst offenders because they wear tight tank tops showing their guns ablaze, but then wear baggy pants and even with them on you can see their legs look like toothpicks.
-
Ew! No! Now though... now I'm gonna look at every burly armed dude and wonder about his legs.
-
When I was in high school, I had bad shoulders, so I was sort of the opposite. I had massive thighs and calves, but my arms had no definition.
Of course, it's all turned to lard now.
-
Ew! No! Now though... now I'm gonna look at every burly armed dude and wonder about his legs.
Yes. They wear pants for a reason, to hide em toothpicks.
When I was in high school, I had bad shoulders, so I was sort of the opposite. I had massive thighs and calves, but my arms had no definition.
Samesies. ive always had that problem tho. I have legs of a race horse but my arms have almost no muscle definition (but I like it that way, Madonna arms on women are NOT attractive).
-
And Madonna arms on men...? :raiseeyebrow:
-
Madonna IS a man. At least now she is. Somehow in the last 6 years she transitioned.
Btw when I said i had that problem too I didnt mean bad shoulders :)
-
My shoulder issues were due to getting the crap kicked out of me by the older guys on the high school football team before I learned how I was supposed to take hits or was properly physically conditioned to do so. As a result, I always gave in to the pain instead of manning up and getting help through rehab. I didn't do that until a few years ago, so while I still have weak shoulders at least they don't hurt constantly. Shame it took fifteen years to finally do something about it.
-
So these guys don't have legs and don't know how to use them?
-
Speaking of boots, buy Ralph Lauren. That's all I came here to say.
-
JUST LOOK AT THIS TRASH
LOOK AT IT IN DESPAIR
-
I legit thought this hot garbage was a joke. Looks like some shitty executive watched the Power Rangers and Jumanji movies in the same night and "had a bright idea."
-
WTF...why is this live action. Why is this live action?....and also, why is this live action.
-
It's not Power Rangers, it's VR Troopers!
-
Ugh....if the next thing you bring up is Tattooed Teenagers from Beverly Hill I will be very put out.
-
It's not Power Rangers, it's VR Troopers!
I was referring to the look and feel of Nu-Power Rangers from the recent movie.
-
I was referring to how they're literally in virtual reality.
