Trying to escape his uneventful life, Albert, the son of a wealthy nobleman from Paris, makes a journey with his friend Franz. During his travels, he meets an immensely wealthy nobleman named The Count of Monte Cristo. Living in luxurious hotels, surrounded by beautiful women and strong bodygaurds, the charming but enigmatic count fascinates Albert. Albert invites the count to join the high society of Paris. However, unknown to Albert, his father had once framed the count and took the count's fiancee as his own. Now, the count is back to take revenge on those who had betrayed him, including Albert's parents.

I heard rumors, but I thought they were all bullshit. But there actually is an anime version of Le Comte de Monte-Cristo. It's produced by Gonzo, and came out in October of last year (and since it's a 24 episode series, I assume they're still airing it).
I've heard it kicks ass, but I can understand why some people are turned off by it. They use some kind of texture coloring for the entire anime. The picture below is an example of it. Yes, the Vampire Michael Jackson lookalike IS Edmond Dantes.

i'd do both
-
Looks kinda gay.
-
One of the better shows from this past season, really.
-
So is the vampire on the make or what?
-
Not really. He's just someone who uses seduction, among other things, to bend people to his will. There hasn't been any intercourse yet, implied or otherwise, but he does have a tasty female consort.
Actually, I'm a couple months behind on it, so maybe in that time he's managed to gay it up a notch. I'll go find out.
-
I actually haven't seen the series, since I have dialup at home and it seems that all filesharing programs don't work at school (some shitty firewall or something).
Am I the only one on this board that is a fanboy of Alexander Dumas' novel?
-
Ha ha, "gay it up a notch". Bam!!
-
Yeah the animation is so gay. I rather men look like men even if they are teh gay.
-
You sat through Fushigi Yuugi just like I did.
-
For some reason Nuriko doesn't bother me. I guess because I see her as a chick.
-
What about girly men Nakago and Hotohori?
-
Hotohori is cool. I don't remeber who the other dude is.
-
Looks kinda gay.
exactly :D
-
How can you say the animation is gay?
You could take any two male characters from any animated show and draw them in that kind of pose... that doesn't make the animation gay.
And besides, the Count is so not gay. The whole plot hinges on his heterosexuality.
This easy to understand Japanese chart (http://www.gankutsuou.com/world/relations/index.html) explains it all.

of course hes not. the japanese guys who create this anime just make them look gay,but they aren't. its sexier.
