Title: Coming soon to a theatre near you!
Post by: B E C K on Aug 18, 2011, 10:32:01 PM
Blade Runner 2: Even Bladier! (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/44193291/ns/today-entertainment/)

Also, Angry Birds the Movie: Milking the Franchise Part 1: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111904480904576498460747826834.html

For Rama:
Bradley Cooper Drops Out Of 'The Crow,' Two Replacements Emerge... both of them just as horrible as he is! (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/08/16/bradley-cooper-the-crow/)  Really?  Is it too much to get a martial artist instead of another vanilla white-bread generic hero-type?  Duke != teh Crow

For Faye:
The Fantastic Voyage...  :)  ...starring Will Smith. (http://movies.ign.com/articles/118/1189093p1.html)   :nono:

And I'm assuming you've all already heard about Dirty Dancing:
News of Dirty Dancing Draws (Dirty) Outrage. (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/news-dirty-dancing-remake-draws-outrage/story?id=14266880)
Quote
According to Irish bookmaker Paddy Power, Justin Timberlake is the front-runner to fill Swayze's iconic role, followed closely by "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth and Derek Hough from "Dancing With The Stars."

lol JT or Thor?  At least Derek Hough seems somewhat reasonable as a choice being that he's a dancer even though that guy looks fuckin' DOUCHETASTIC.  RLY?  HE'S TEH NXT SWYZE?  HYUCK.

I'm more angry about Blade Runner 2 then yet another stupid Crow movie. Blade Runner is a movie that doesn't need a sequel or prequel or whatever.

Blade Runner 2: Blade Runnier!

Blade Runner Dos.  (starring George Lopez in the comedy of the year)

Blade Runner 2: Nursing Home Edition.  (starring Harrison Ford)

Blade Runner's Hangover 2.  (starring Bradley Cooper)

Blade Runne2.  (derp, see wut i did thar)

The possibilities are endless!

You forgot Blade Runner 2 starring Wesley Snipes.

Whats wrong with more blade runner?

I'd love to see some more of that universe if it was done well.

I hope Blade Runner has some epic unicorn action.

There is no "universe". Blade Runner is based on the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick. One novel. One story. The End.

What's next? Lord of the Rings Episodes IV through VI?

"There were actually two rings to rule them all! Dun dun dun!"

Fuck. Do they really think a Blade Runner sequel has some sort of amazing built-in audience? The original has never been anything but culty at best.

Don't get me wrong, I like Blade Runner just fine, but it's far from perfect.

Hey, Ridley! How about something new and original? Aren't you also involved in a completely unnecessary Alien prequel? Boo-urns! Why don't you shit out a Gladiator sequel with fat Russell Crowe while you're at it? You can call him Maximus Maximus Maximus.

There most definitely is a universe.  It doesn't matter how many installments an IP has a setting/universe has been created.  I read that book a long time ago I don't remember how well the movie followed it.  There were some discrepancies weren't there?

That setting is ripe for all sorts of adventures to be had...by me!  I want to see shit you people will turn away from in disgust. I'll throw up vodka out of a top story window and see how many flying cars I can hit.  I'll fuck android chicks with genetically engineered ultraginas.  All these moments will be lost in time like whiskey in a carbomb.

The Alien prequel has now become its own non-Alien movie starring the girl in the dragon tattoo.

Speaking of Olmos, someone explain to me what's going on in this poster. Cage looks like ol' Edward James, while Kidman looks like some freakish anime heroine.

Seriously, the work she's had done doesn't look that artificial, does it?

Blade Runner just doesn't need a sequel. It was there, it was done, there is nothing left to tell. You could do a remake, but I doubt it'll be better then the first one...they never are. You could do a prequel, but why the fuck would you go and ruin it. I hope this dies a horrible death.
Title: Re: Coming soon to a theatre near you!
Post by: IDE on Aug 20, 2011, 02:49:41 AM
That's a narrow minded approach.

They could make a whole other sweet android hunt that has little to nothing to do with the characters from the first film.

The whole concept of the blade runners makes for more than one episode.  That movie was just one of their stories.

They didn't get signed up to be blade runners just for the sequences that took place in that film.

There's no reason to never revisit that setting other than being a crotchety bitch.  Are you a crotchety bitch?

Hollywood has shown itself, time and time again, to be greedy as hell. The golden age of ORIGINAL movies is over, now it's mostly remakes, reboots, and sequels. Eventually, mankind will reach a distopian future where the only movies to come out will be unoriginal ones that have been redone a million times, only to placate the mindless population with feelings of nostalgia and the "good 'ol days."

A new Blade Runner movie COULD be good, especially considering it's not another director or producer doing this, but rather Ridley Scott himself. We'll just have to see.

A new Crow? Fuck no.

A new Dirty Dancing. Doubly fuck no.

I also saw an ad on one of those articles for a new Underworld movie, this time a sequel to the first two and with the main female vampire back again. It says Kate gets naked in the beginning but her bits are obscured by 'strategically placed objects'. What do I have to do to get to see her naked?? It seems full frontal has gone the way of the dinosaur (like good movies), a product of the 70s and 80s never to show itself again. :(
Title: Re: Coming soon to a theatre near you!
Post by: IDE on Sep 06, 2011, 09:24:08 PM
Doesn't full frontal get rated R?  That's why.  It's like impossible for them to go forward with an R rating anymore.  Fuckin pisses me off.  So glad the next riddick movie is rated R can't wait to see that shit.

I've only seen part of it, but isn't Kurt Russell's SOLDIER also set in the same world as Blade Runner?
Title: Re: Coming soon to a theatre near you!
Post by: joe on Sep 06, 2011, 11:36:51 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldier_%28film%29

Soldier was written by David Peoples, who co-wrote the script for Blade Runner. By his own admission, he considers Soldier to be a "sidequel"/spiritual successor to Blade Runner. It also obliquely references various elements of stories written by Philip K. Dick (who wrote the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, on which Blade Runner is based), or film adaptations thereof. A "Spinner" vehicle from Blade Runner can be seen in the wreckage on a junk planet that features in the film.

Interesting!

Have any of you seen this shit yet?

It's as if they've taken everything that's wrong with modern cinema and congealed it into a pulsating, amorphous blob.

On the upside, it couldn't possibly have cost much, right?

I'm half way through it and I agree.

Wait so this is gonna be in theaters at the end of the month?

It's probably gonna bomb.

This is definitely a movie that drugs would enhance.

Yeah, it's gonna bomb but I don't think the makers of the this are expecting to make a lot of money. If anything this movie will get their names out there.

As long as it is not in 3D and doesn't have some Special Edition style changes, then I'm there. Course they probably won't release it anywhere near me, so it will more then likely be moot.

Ghostbusters 3 is coming no matter what.

Murray as a ghost?  That's fine with me.  I heard that he may not be involved at all, in which case that's the deal breaker for me and I'll just stream it online.

WAT. I thought they said first half of 2012.

Here's more info. (http://www.evageeks.org/2011/08/evangelion-q-autumn-2012/) I realize the teaser is off Youtube now, so let me know if you want to see the teaser and can't find it. I imagine they're going ahead with their plan to produce 3 & 4 simultaneously, which is a huge financial drain on them, particularly in the current economic environment.

Also don't even waste your time waiting for the dvd, just get a fan sub.

I was talking about the Japanese DVD. I'll download the fansub, of course, but I won't be watching camrips. I'll buy the U.S. release out of fanboyish support.

I think Murray is part owner of the GB Franchise or something along those lines. So no matter what he has to OK it. So I don't really get this whole he is ok if they make it but he doesn't want to do it. And then he also does stuff like show up at the Scream Awards in full out Ghostbusters gear and give people hope and then just turn around to refuse do the movie.

I'd have a hard time reconciling the current Harold Ramis with the character of Egon.

I mean, they're obviously all old and fat now, with maybe the exception of Ernie Hudson, but Egon is supposed to be tall and skinny, and Harold Ramis is really fat.

I saw the teaser before, I dont remember if they were the same scenes shown at the end of the credits in the 2.0? it looks pretty good imo. I just hope they don't change the "ending" since I think it was perfect

I do not agree that it is nothing without Bill Murray. I thought the rest of the cast had quite a few strengths.

I will, however agree, that they might as well not make it because it's just not going to be as good.

I only saw it once and that was a long time ago.
