Starting to look more and more like Day After Tomorrow, when's the ice age?
Ok, so the tidal wave wasn't from sea levels rising, but a 9.0 earthquake in the ocean off indonesia. An earthquake so strong it caused the earth's rotation to slow down and the poles to shift slightly. The wave half destroyed India, Sir Lanka, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Africa, as well as completely swollowing small islands and sucking them into the ocean. So far they've gotten 57,000 confirmed dead, but people say it might be in the millions.
-
pwned
-
Well, atleast we don't have to worry about the Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka anymore....
-
well at least there probably wont be anymore earthquakes for a while....maybe if it happened closer to singapur my dad would have changed his mind:-/
-
Or maybe you'll get your wish instead.
-
hmmm no, that cant happen. even though singapore isclose to the sismic plate(or plaque, or however u say that in english) in the phillipines, it still have malaysia covering its ass...thats why they didnt get almost nada regarding the tsunamis etc.
those surfers in Cali must be happy tho, they are probably getting some good waves in a couple of weeks . too bad its because of such a big catastrophe :-/
-
Oh. Well there's always a magic comet. Or terrorists. With Santa anything could happen.

You guys hear that Jet Li was missing for a while after the eartquake? He was on holiday in the Maldives-islands with his wife and children. (http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=19037)
-
Reports say he injured himself saving his daughter. I like how this article first notes that Jet Li played the villain in Lethal Weapon 4, and adds Hero and Romeo Must Die as afterthoughts.

Faye, it's a "tectonic plate" in English.

Hey, don't forget the hurricane season. Florida sure won't. B)
I think the earth is rebelling against resource rape & overpopulation. I'm personally quite amused whenever I hear of animals getting fed up with humans encroaching on their territory and going rogue. Unfortunately, they usually end up getting killed, but not before they take out a few entitlement-minded morons first.
-
Faye, it's a "tectonic plate" in English.
danke schoen. actually, the scientific term in spanish is "tectonica", i just didn't remember until you said it :P
-
"Tectonic" sounds Germanic. Celtic, even.
-
reminds of me of 'tec' the mastur mispeler.
-
That guy's a pansy.
-
You should've mispelled pansy, it would've been funnier.

80000
I wonder who I should donate to? The red cross screwed up bad after 9/11, so I'm not sure I trust them. Maybe I'll go with UCNEF or Doctors without Borders.
-
tec is pure old school.
-
Doug should be banned if he donates even a cent.
Those people don't deserve any money. They all probably deserved to die.
-
Videos and picture, anybody?

"FUCK! How high is it gonna go!?"
-
Uhhgh, that picture makes me ill. :(
-
Doctors Without Borders are some ballsy people. And unlike the military, they prize the ability to do a good job over whomever someone happens to sleep with. <_< We have a friend who was in Bosnia for a year - gutsy little dude.
-
Max should be banned for implying I shouldn't donate money, and for being a sadistic asshole.
118,000
Oscar-winning British director Richard Attenborough is mourning the death of his 14-year-old granddaughter, Lucy, who was killed when the waves crashed into Phuket.
Phuket?
-
You SHOULD hog it for yourself. They don't deserve any money. Never have, never will, and nothing can change that.
-
Amen!
-
reminds of me of 'tec' the mastur mispeler.
I have a little walking robot in my head.
-
I'll donate in the hopes of pissing off a fundie. As of yesterday, the lead batallions of "Christian values" and self-appointed morals directors of the country like the American Family Association, the Family Research Council, the Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family, Concerned Women for America, and the Coral Ridge Ministries, all still foaming at the mouth over gay marriage, stem cell research and abortion, haven't said word one about the tsunami.
Oh, but LIFE is SACRED!!! Wish they'd just put it on the fucking table and say what they mean - Caucasian American life is sacred. Hypocritical assholes
-
I don't see you doing anything.
-
Zero, are you a member of one of these organizations? If so, I didn't mean to insult you personally; just your compatriots' seeming lack of interest in something that seems tailor-made for groups touting how their Christian right faith allegedly governs their lives. And unless you were monitoring the Lutheran World Relief donation site, you wouldn't see me doing anything.
It's nothing to me if anyone here donates or not. Nobody here runs around monitoring anyone's morals for Jaysus or bleating about how wonderful & compassionate they are, so no hypocrisy is involved.
-
To label everyone in those groups as a racist, hate mongering white person is very close minded, ignorant if best. I have some family tied with the group, while I don't support it in any way I respect them. Self hating whites really piss me off.
-
See? Bernie has righteous intentions.
Give'em hell!
-
To label everyone in those groups as a racist, hate mongering white person
Sounds like Max
Look, I don't care if you want to be a nazi like Faye and not donate money because the people hurt were third-world poor Indians and Asians and weren't white-blooded americans, then you don't have to. You go splurge your money on nothing but video games to fap off to. And when you're poor and starving and homeless because your house burned down or got sucked up by a tornado, or you got kicked out of the house because your mom got tired of you doing nothing but play games, maybe you'll appreciate a little charity.
Or maybe you won't and you'll continue to be a faggish dildo.
But your attitude won't stop me from considering sending money, because I know that if I hadn't had the luck of being born in a country with an economy as good as America, I'd be in some shit filled country like the ones that got hit by the waves. And I certainly know I wouldn't like the idea of my own house and all my shit being destroyed by some random ass natural disaster.
-
I'm also a bigot and sexist!
Oooh, fiesty little Doug. Somebody pull your tail?
They don't deserve money!
-
I'd like to know why you don't think they do, besides the fact they're poor and non-caucasian.
I'm also a bigot and sexist!
Good luck getting laid with that kind of attitude.
-
Sex isn't important to me.
They don't deserve money because being kicked in the ass by your homestead then wanting money is sad.
Plus, they're not me.
Only I deserve the money.
-
Don't worry Max, Doug's weight and apathy will keep him a virgin till death.
-
To label everyone in those groups as a racist, hate mongering white person is very close minded, ignorant if best. I have some family tied with the group, while I don't support it in any way I respect them. Self hating whites really piss me off.
Did I? I apologize then.
And I don't hate or like being white. It's a matter of indifference to me.
-
Max's posts are hilarious. I was reading this thread and for about a couple of minutes I honestly had no idea what you people were talking about.
-
Look, I don't care if you want to be a nazi like Faye
stop getting me into your fights, u freaking loser
-
Doug knows shit, why should you take him seriously?
-
I'll donate in the hopes of pissing off a fundie. Oh, but LIFE is SACRED!!! Wish they'd just put it on the fucking table and say what they mean - Caucasian American life is sacred. Hypocritical assholes :(
It might have something to do with those groups being geared toward advocacy of certain policies concerning America's political landscape, not global disaster reparation or relief. But far be it from me to defend those dirty rotten scoundrels against misbegotten accusations and arbitrarily assumed scopes of duty.
-
Doug knows shit, why should you take him seriously?
i know, but hes annoying the hell out of me. especially now that hes imitating tom. i thought it was all good now that tom wasnt around anymore, but no, this other douche bag comes and fucks it all up
-
*will remember not to send any money when Peru has a natural disaster*
-
its ok, i'll cover you
the only disasters we can have are tsunamis and earthquakes. those can be worse than the one that just happened, because the nazca tectonic plate is like 2 hours from where i live :'(
-
But far be it from me to defend those dirty rotten scoundrels against misbegotten accusations and arbitrarily assumed scopes of duty.
Hey, the year of political advocacy I promised my best friend is over. He's wonderful to listen to and should have finished his constitutional law degree, but as of 12:01 A.M. January 1, I'm not sharing any messages. :) Amendments & rulings come & go, like the joke prohibition was. Eventually gay marriage won't be any more illegal than interracial marriage. Abortions are available in Canada, and there's always sterilization. I'm 6 weeks into my Essure probation time (takes 3 months to be fully effective), and it didn't hurt anymore than getting my ears pierced. If the U.S. doesn't own up to the part it has played in global climate change & share some responsibility in cleaning up the mess, the consequences will be nightmarish, but then again, it won't be in my lifetime, and I don't have kids to worry about. :P
I'm delighted to be fully back into what matters to me, which is animal welfare, conservation and historical structure preservation, in that order. I did, however, allow myself a smirk over the break room hysteria this morning regarding the Social Security revamping proposed to change the calculation methods & reduce payouts. Those "near retirement" allegedly won't be affected, but it seems Bush won't give anyone a concrete answer on what that phrase means, so all the 55+ people here are in quite a tizzy and feeling (direct quote) "betrayed, after we voted him into office!!" I eased out of the room with my coffee and my 27 years before retirement age to get ready and let the dervishes whirl.

wh-what is that???
-
The Essure procedure is performed by a trained gynecologist. A soft, flexible micro-insert is placed into each fallopian tube through your body's natural pathways. During the three months after the procedure, your body and the micro-insert work together to form a tissue barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the egg.

that looks good
but i have a question(and im not trying to make you angry or anything) but if you dont wanna have children even, why dont u just tie your thingies?
-
It's painful, and might not work if done wrong.
-
Because Bernie can't tie a good knot.
-

Shut up I was talking to bernie, mr-i-know-it-all-but-at-the-end-dont-know-shit
-
but i have a question(and im not trying to make you angry or anything) but if you dont wanna have children even, why dont u just tie your thingies?
Not at all, dear. :) Several reasons - I don't want to be put under general anethesia or cut into if I can help it. Procedure/recovery time was another factor -the actual event took about 1/2 hour from start to finish. I stayed home the next day (Friday), had some cramping & spotting for about 48 hours and was completely back to normal on Sunday. Really no worse than the annual plumbing exam; just took longer. 80% was covered by insurance, but I know the cost was considerably less for Essure than a tubal.
I've heard of others who wanted to be put under for the procedure, which they will do. I have a fairly good discomfort tolerance (I KNEW wearing that steel-boned corset at Dickens would come in handy! ) , plus I was so wired about having it done that the few twinges didn't bother me.
All in all, a great experience. Next step is the HSG (hysterosalpingogram) which involves a dye injection to make sure the tubes are blocked, and I'm home free!
I know everyone has many years of child-bearing potential ahead of them, but if a decision is made to not have kids, or when it's time to stop, look into Essure. Any complications; I'll let you know.

-
There are easier and less expensive ways to not become pregnant.
-
This is true in the short term; however, my company won't allow the insurance plan to pay for birth control pills due to their personal philosophy. So in the past 7 years & 9 months of my employment at $34.95 a month, I've spent over $29,000 on birth control that can fail if I'm forgetful or taking antibiotics. I have never wanted children, and I will never regret the decision - why not spend a little under $1000 for peace of mind?
-
There are easier and less expensive ways to not become pregnant.
Kill all men?
-
More like kill all of the stupid people. There will always be some dumb bitch who will force a pregnancy because she has nothing better to do (everyone knows people like that) even if it involved busting up jars of sperm at the sperm bank and rolling around in it.
-
Ooooh, I hate those chicks that go around 'oopsing'.

Bernie, you don't know that you'll never want any. It's like this guy I know who joined the National Guard when he was in his early twenties, while he was single and looking for his lot in life. Now he's married, has a steady and well-paying job, and he wishes to God he'd never joined up because his ass is dangerously close to going overseas.
I remember him telling me I needed to join. I said, "bushwah!" and never gave it a second thought. I say the same thing to everyone who says "vasectomy". It's easier to play war games on a computer or on a paintball course than it is to join the Reserves or whatever...it's easier to just say, "pull out before you blow your load," or "I'm on the rag, go jerk off, sport," than it is to disable your reproductive system when you can't tell what you'll want ten years from now.
-
when you can't tell what you'll want ten years from now.
Ten years from now, I'll be 53. I may be wanting Botox, but I won't be wanting kids anymore than I do now, which is not at all.
And this is exactly why I had to wait so long. Doctor after doctor giving me insufferably smug looks and metaphoric hand pats, and "there, there; you're just a silly little woman who doesn't know what she really wants." I started trying for pemanent sterilization when I was 32, but I knew I didn't want kids when I was about 12.
But, yes; this is permanent, as in not reversable without surgery, and even then, there's no guarantee the reversal will work. I'm not citing it as something to have done on a whim.
-

I'd wait till I have kids. I have a very large family, so if both die, I wouldn't worry about my DNA not being spread.
-
I got the DNA angle once from a very devout woman. Basically nice, so I didn't rip into her; just asked sweetly, "But that shouldn't be a problem since we're all descended from Adam & Eve."
Finally, "Well....I never thought of that."
-
I thought it was Adam and Steve. THOSE GUYS ON SOUTH BEACH LIED TO ME!!!
-
I think there's points where the whole "you don't know what you'll want later on" just doesn't cut it, and a 40-ish woman and her reproductive system is clearly one of them IMO.

Ew.

Possibly.

You're absolutely right Doug! :D Be on the lookout for your set of Hello Kitty steak knives.
