Title: Ass-ton Kutcher on Two and a Half Men.
Post by: B E C K on May 14, 2011, 12:26:03 AM
http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2011/05/13/136270936/ashton-kutcher-teases-twitter-about-joining-two-and-a-half-men

I'm sure you've heard this already and not that I even have a stake here since I rarely watch but boo.  What happened to getting Hugh Grant?  Why the hell didn't they at least get Stamos!  >:(  The show hinged on having a lovable ass-toid as the star.  Ashton looks like a nice guy but he's vanilla and not funny.  He's more suited to giving hugs to children with cancer in the hospital.  BORING.  If this show succeeds with the change, whatever, but I'd like to see it fall on its ass.

You know, I've never seen an episode of this show.   But after hearing all the news about it, and that I guess the "kid" in the show was starting to grow up, I figured they could re-vamp it and call it "Two Men and a Baby" with the kid being the new "man."  But I just couldn't fathom them rehiring Charlie Sheen for another season just to sit around in a stroller all day.

Yeah, he's not much of a kid anymore.  Last ep I saw, he was making dirty jokes right along side Sheen.

Hugh Grant turned it down quickly.

He actually was close to signing but had second thoughts about pissing off Sheen, from what I understand.

Kutcher doesn't care, nor shouldn't.  By the time the show actually ends, Charlie will probably be dead from god only knows what self-inflicted thing he brought on himself.

I had read at one point that even Jerry O'Connell was up for the role, dependent on whether or not his show with Belushi was going to get another season.   They could have just said it was Charlie Sheen from another dimension, and he's stuck there for 29.7 years until the next slide window opens.

I figured someone would have an attention span of more than 5 minutes and the dice rolled in my favor. ;)

My geekness wouldn't let it slide. (get it...slide. HA!)  I still have a very short attention span however.

Oddly enough, I just got back from seeing Thor and the Einstein-Rosen bridge gets a shout out like 4 different times.   Who knew the Asgards were just sliding between dimensions all this time?

I actually went with a buddy of mine and when they mentioned it the first time he was like "A what?" So I told him it was a wormhole. Then like 3 seconds later Jane Foster was all "It's a wormhole." and I was all "See."

While we're making Sliders references there's probably a dimension out there where Jerry O'Connel IS the new Charlie Sheen...

Really though they should take this oppurtunity to change the name of the show.  When I saw an episode earlier this season where Jake was driving I questioned the title's continued relevance.

As I've said before...I believe the half a man was Jon Cryer from the start.

They should have a storyline where Jon Cryer comes to the realisation that he's a fraud and abandons his Chiropractic practice or something.  I have a lot of trouble having any level of sympathy for someone who's entire livelyhood is a sham.  Sorry the jingle writer is the guy I'm supposed to think is getting a free ride?

I don't completely follow your train of thought here ... Jon Cryer is the one who's living at the jingle writer's house, not the other way around. Chiropractic has old roots, but really when it comes down to it you can get the same stuff down by a masseur.

I read some article a couple of days ago where some residents of some ruined town (ruined by the tornadoes or something) were thankful Charlie Sheen was helping to bring attention to their cause.  So he's doing something, um, like that.

The only reason Ashton Kutcher was chosen as a replacement for Sheen was cause the producer wanted to annoy the fuck out of Charlie Sheen (yeah the producer he got into a fight with). This is what people in that "environment" are saying.
It makes sense, who the fuck would want Ashton Kutcher to replace them? not me for sure

So who expects Charlie Sheen to be dead in ten years?  No, that's probably too generous.  I'll give him five.

Especially when he bleeds in it.  Oh, what?  Too soon.  Yeah, I'm gonna say five years.  He could defy the odds and develop Super AIDS that makes him nigh immortal, but I think the rollercoaster's on the way down now.
