I'm just gonna enjoy my day off and eat sum turkey. No family, no nothing. In all likelihood, this will be my last Thanksgiving Day off in years.
-
Hanging out with a girl. I am undecided about going to the family dinner. I like seeing family, but I also hate seeing family, and the whole vegan thing can make it a bit awkward.
-
Even more awkward when they find out the girl you're hanging out with is a turkey.
-
Nothing really. There will be Turkey, that I will most likely cook. Some family might come in...might not. I don't really care either way.
-
She is not a country that is at the threshold of the Middle East and Europe, I can assure you of that.
-
I'll be heading home to abuse my parents' hospitality, abundant food, and hydraulic jack (I need to replace the rear brake pads on my car).
-
I just got my brakes done. I had to replace the original calipers on an 11 year old Chrystler 300M, as well as all the brake pads, replacing one rotor and machining the rest. It was not cheap, and they told me I have a bad tie rod which they cannot fix.
-
I'll probably eat with my family, and get presents.
Besides that I'll probably be catching up with homework.
-
It's not a holiday here (the day itself) so i'll just be chilling around. I miss the food, ESPECIALLY the sweet potatoes with marshmellows HMMMMMM
-
Cooking turkeys and playing video games.
-
Dreading the next day.
-
Shit, I just stay in on Black Friday. You couldn't pay me enough to line up with the rest of the herd.
-
I have to work on BF so the only sucky thing is being stuck with all of the shopper-happy BF traffic. :joe:

Me neither. Ive never been shopping on Black Friday and I never will be. Which reminds me of this funny webpage: www.peopleofwalmart.com
-
Merla loves that site.
-
Okay, I don't even think I'm getting turkey. Not because we don't have any but I had this shrimp I've been needing to cook, so I made coconut shrimp and now I'm stuffed.
-
I bought shrimp too but had to throw it away cause its one day past its expiration date (got it TWO days ago). Damn you japan and your freshness rules

I went to the family gathering and did not take any food of my own this year, and what do you know? There is still vegan appropriate stuff waiting for me. Awesome. I didn't eat much, and I kind of felt bad because I did not contribute, but fuck it they don't want my food anyway.
Then I hung out with my lady friend and that was awesome.
-
That's cool that they had vegan-friendly stuff. Are you the only vegan or are there others?
-
I'm the only one. One of my cousins from out of town has gone back and forth vegetarian/vegan but she doesn't get up to Dallas very often, she's in Victoria for some fucking reason.
-
What did they make you?
-
They didn't make me anything, there was just stuff I could eat. Salad of course, my mother made some breadless dressing (because she has a shit load of allergies), and the sweet potatoes were fine. My grandmother brought some green beans and potatoes. They were completely flavorless but I still thanked her, pepper took care of it. And there was actually a pile of fruit for once. My extended family almost never has fruit unless it is inside of a pie.

NO TOFURKEY?!?!?!?!
Had delicious peruvian food for lunch today.
-
I made the tofurky for myself later in the day.
-
Tofurky sounds scary to me.
-
It's actually good for being a vegetarian thing, believe it or not
-
My lady friend had some. She said it tasted okay, but she couldnt deal with the texture.

Look out...I think that cat is about to sneeze.

Literally, that IS what she said.

Well, plans are meant to be broken. Instead, I was sick all holiday weekend, slept through most of Thanksgiving day and was woken up at 7 my a phone call from my mother asking if I was coming or not. Then I fell asleep again about a half hour later. Total food eaten on Thanksgiving day - 1 bowl of apple cinnamon oatmeal, 5 cheese curds.
-
Boo, what happened? :( Reminds me of that one X-mas years back where I had a 100-degree something fever and couldn't even sit up.
-
I was just tired. Not that it was a huge deal to miss it. As one of my sisters is in Seattle and the other one was spending Thanksgiving with her boyfriend's family, it would have only been the three of us, and we were probably just going to make a pizza (granted, from scratch, but still not a huge deal).
Instead I drove out the next day and ate ground ham and cheese on bagels.
