From Dean Cain's Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Cain):
Cain was born as Dean George Tanaka in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the son of actress Sharon Sarah Thomas and U.S. Army serviceman Roger Tanaka, who left the family before he was born.
That's amazing! He left the family before he was even born! :poo:
-
wat? That sentence is right, no?
Also, he's half jap? Doesn't look like it. Actually he's 1/4th, nevermind. my baby will probably grow up looking like a female Dean Cain.
Nuri why were you looking at this to begin with?
-
No, the sentence makes it seem that the FATHER left before the FATHER was born. To make it correct it should have replaced "who left the family before he was born," with "who left the family before Cain was born"
-
You know it by context, because you're not an idiot. While it may be technically OK, it's clunky as all get out. I hate reading stuff like that.
Besides, it sucks as an introductory sentence because it fails to set the tone for the succeeding paragraph. It should be about Cain and not his deadbeat dad. Then again, this is Wikipedia, not a real encyclopedia or otherwise formal document.
-
Tanaka? I always thought it was Tatanka. As in part Native American, not part Japanese.
What the fuck, man. Fuck you, Dean Cain.

OOOooOoOoOoO

The icon for this thread makes me think it should be "Engrish" instead of "English".

I didn't know I needed a reason to read about Dean Cain. ;D Anyway, I think it was because someone in a Superman thread somewhere mentioned Cain was 1/4 Japanesey so I went to look it up. I never knew that.
-
That's something only a weaboo would know. Disregard said poster.
-
Well, apparently some fanboys were throwing hissys back in 1990-whatever because Cain was all "bi-racial" and it was, like, "oh no, multi-race Superman!" I don't know why Superman has to be puro cracker just because he grew up in Kansas.
-
Yeah, it is not like he came from another planet or anything...
-
If you had to peg Supes for anything ethno-racially speaking, it'd have to be Jewish, given his creators.
-
Well his parents did want him to settle down with a nice Jewish girl instead of that Lois Lane.

Exactly why it makes the most sense to have Goku be Asian.
-
I'd rather pretend DBZ was never live action and just allow the characters to be racially ambiguous.

Cause if he was of any other race and born in Kansas, he would have been killed already
Also, I suck at identifying haafus. I thought my husband was 100% all american whitey till I heard him talking (he sounded like Ahnold) and someone said theres a half japanese in class. I was like lol wut?). Dean Cain looks completely white to me, even after knowing hes haafu.

If he was any other race in Kansas he would have killed himself. You ever been there? I'm only like 1/16 Indian (Red, not brown) and I wanted to to when I was there, and I was just driving through it at 70 mph.
-
What, are you saying they gave you the "racist" look?
I went to Lancaster like 2 years ago (Lancaster is the Amish County) with my boy, and we were trying to go to this house that sells pies. Well we took the wrong turn and end up in this cul-de-sac. So we just stopped to look at the map when this santa claus-looking amish man came out and gave me TEH look. I just looked at him and closed the window. to tell you the truth I wasn't afraid I was just waiting for him to say something stupid so I could curse him out
-
He was probably just amazed at a woman not properly covered.
-
What do you mean...I'm sure Faye was modestly dressed in a hot pants and a tub top.
-
Actually it was a miniskirt and a halter top, but you were close.
They were probably amazed I used deodorant. They don't know what those are. And let me tell you, synthetic fabric + B.O. is a big nono
-

He was probably just confused after getting his first boner.
-
Maybe he was confused when he saw me driving . Yes, I drove for the first time in 10 years in amish county. Not like the policemen would care if I ran over a carriage or somethin.
-
Well, yeah, that probably would be a problem.
-
I'd definetely imagine so.
-
Maybe you just ran over his favorite goat.
-
I hate it when that happens.
