Title: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: B E C K on Oct 26, 2010, 10:39:55 AM
Here's what I heard: "Squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk..."  Is it so unreasonable that everybody get a fucking turn to talk?  Stop gabbing over each other!

Not all of them are old, the young one squawks like crazy, too.

Who am I kidding, I only know about the show from SNL.

Forgivable, as that's the only version of the View worth watching.

Whoopi, or the fat kid from Good Burger pretending to be Whoopi?

The choice is obvious.

I always forget that is him. And Fred Armisen as the old lady who says something disgusting and then says, "so what?" is awesome. Kirsten Wiig is starting to wear thin, though.

Like, in general, or in that skit specifically?

She's a great cast member, but she's so overused. I wonder how much longer she'll stick with it, because these last couple years she's practically been running the show.
Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: Fiero on Oct 26, 2010, 10:29:47 PM
Overused is why she is wearing thin, I think she might be a better writer, but I doubt most of the cast can do the weird stuff she does.

Isn't that what they are suppose to do on the view? Isn't that what they pay them for?

It is my understanding that the women are nearly incoherent in their squawking.

And other women eat it up. And this is why men don't understand the fairer sex.

Okay, so I saw the new hen show, The Talk.  For those who have no idea what the frick it is, it's the mommy-version of The View with Roseanne's Sara Gilbert, hot Aszin MILF Joan Chen, creaky Sharon Osbourne, borderline-trashy Leah Remini, slightly dull Holly Robinson-Peete, and some heavy chick they barely show.  With them all being mothers and having that as their selling point, I notice they are loads calmer than on The View.  While I like that and Martha Stewart and I both applaud them for this very good thing, they pretty much lose me on the whole Mother Knows Best angle (which is of course their primary schtick).  That and interviewing boring people.  Cybil Sheppard?  YAAAAAAAAAAAWN.

Oh, what the fuck. Why do people do that to themselves? God damn it.

Is aging naturally really so awful? It can't be as awful as that shit. I didn't even recognize her at first.
Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: B E C K on Nov 13, 2010, 02:52:41 AM
Ha, I knew something was different about her but I never looked at her face long enough to tell what that was.  She looks like Alec Baldwin in Beetlejuice when he had that bird-face or whatever.

God, seriously.

Kevin James needs to eat her, then poop her out in her original form.

It would be like when Buu ate Vegeto and crapped out Goku and Vegeta.

Yeah, kinda like that.

I don't need to explain it, everyone knows what I'm saying.

Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: joe on Nov 13, 2010, 03:18:28 AM
Over at Giant Bomb they were doing a quicklook of the newest DBZ game, and Jeff Gerstmann was all, "How long has it been since there was new DBZ material? Why are they still making these games?"

And some genius in the comments says, "Uh... DBZ Kai is currently ongoing, you guys, so new material like that is fairly recent."

Derp.

I had fun watching DBZ, I can't deny it. But looking back it seems like such a fucking waste.

Have you seen every episode?  I think I tend to not be in that school of thought because I totally cheated and skipped the Cell Games and shit.  After the bummer ending to the second Saban season, I literally jumped from the arrival of Future Trunks into Buu Saga.
Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: joe on Nov 13, 2010, 03:38:53 AM
No, man.

No.

I totally watched all of it. ALL OF IT, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!

This is why my hatred runs so deep.

I remember Cartoon Network was rationing them out so conservatively that I ended up downloading them all after the Ginyu mini-saga. This was back during dial-up and the act of downloading episodes was new and exciting.

I remember one night I was chatting with Rama on AIM and I mentioned that I had these fucking things downloading and that they'd be done in like 24 hours or some ridiculous shit, and he was all, "What the fuck is wrong with you?" And I could only reply, "I don't know..."

Ew, why!  You poor soul.  CN was the worse place to watch DBZ.  Especially with that craptastic Funi dub.  I had already ordered a shitload of fansubs and a bunch of raw manga at that point and didn't even bother with CN anymore.
Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: joe on Nov 13, 2010, 04:05:39 AM
See, that's what I had, fansubs. Only some of them were horribly low-grade, 34th generation tape-dubs. Some of them the video was straight static for long stretches. It was like the dark ages of illegal anime, man.

On, and they were all in RealPlayer format. Remember that shit? God damn.

Anyway, I remember the Buu saga knocking my socks off. I was beside myself with amazement. The whole section where Mr. Satan befriends Fat Buu was like comedic lightning in a bottle to me at the time.

And they were definitely fansubs because everyone was screaming obscenities half the time.

Anytime Super Buu raged the subtitles were always "FUUUUUUCK" or "SHIIIIIIT" or the like. Gohan would tell Buu he was gonna beat his ass, etc.

It was glorious.

I remember being so fucking amazed at the Raditz battle alone when I first watched it because it was 1996 and aside from the character design for young Goku, I had no idea what the fuck DB was.  "What?  This fight lasted four episodes?  RLY?"  Mind blown.
Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: joe on Nov 13, 2010, 04:46:49 AM
Yeah, man. I'm sure I've related this story a dozen times already, but back in the day Canada's equivalent of Cartoon Network was this channel called YTV, and they aired the first 13 episodes of the original DB. My little brother told me about it and I thought he was lying his ass off because it sounded so batshit crazy. But sure enough, he showed it to me when it was on, and that was that.

Then like a year later when Z first started up in syndication, my brother tells me how there was this new show where the fat monkey kid was grown up and flying around shooting lasers and kicking the crap out of people, and again I could only assume he was lying through his teeth. But nope.

And that was the beginning of the end. All those awesome dudes fighting against Vegeta and Nappa? Couldn't believe my eyes. I was trapped.

The Raditz one is still my fave through.  With the Saban edited Ocean Group dub, Special Needs Beam Cannon and all.
Title: Re: Ha ha, I actually tried watching The View today.
Post by: joe on Nov 13, 2010, 05:13:43 AM
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Saban did all the way up to the defeat of giant monkey Vegeta, didn't they? Or did they go even longer than that? Or maybe not even that long?

I can't remember. It's all mushing together in my memorybanks.

They did all the way to the Frieza saga where Vegeta realizes Gohan stole his four-star dragon ball.  And I was so excited to see more but then shit met fan met Funi 4-person in-house voice dubbing and dude-with-casio music work.

Come on. When he said "Kakarot" it just rolled off the tongue. It was practically musical.

I just looked him up on IMDB, are they actually redubbing Kai in its entirety? Those people must be fucking sick to death of that whole franchise.

I watched all of DBZ back in The Day, and now I'm watching Kai. Stuff still drags out, but not as interminably long as it did.

But the RealVideo crap still gives me nerd angina, particularly when I find an old copy sitting on a hard drive. Not only was the format itself shitty, making for the crummiest of crummy video, but the players were more so (thank goodness for Realplayer Alternative). I watched the Invid Invasion of Robotech in that format back in '98.

All dubs into english suck, thats the rule.
The mexican dubs don't suck as much BUT they do use the same fucking person for a lot of characters, in anime and movies. So you have freaking Goku's voice talking in the body of Jean Claude Van Damme (true story)

I didn't care for that dub.  Wendee Lee in anything adds large amounts of suckage.  Ouran High School Host Club was a real good dub.

Flirting with them,  have been seen a couple of times getting some girl into his room at night that looked definitely underaged. Also, he likes to drink a lot even thouhg he says he doesnt drink and hes the biggest pain int he ass. Hes very mean with the con workers ahd hes dirty with the girls (telling them dirty things when flirting). He's also a homophobe.

I just searched for his article in Encyclopedia Dramatica lol its hilarious and practically repeats everything I told you http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Vic_Mignogna

the incident mentioned in " he does yaoi fanservice for EdxRoy and makes up BS stories about meeting CLAMP to "disprove" yaoi." is that supposedly the character he voices in the series is gay but he said its not (cause he hates 'mos) and that he met the ladies at CLAMP and he asked them directly if the guy was gay and they said he wasnt. Of course pics of this dont exist hence why nobody believe him.

Actually shit, they even explain this further on that article. Oh well.

Encyclopedia Dramatica...your source for unbiased, factual reporting. It's especially solid when it berates him as a homophobe only to turn around to call the character he's best-known for playing a faggot.

Though the Asspark article was pretty funny and not far from the mark.

Like everything else on that website, a lot of stuff was exaggerated and distorted. I don't remember anybody having problems with CGB aside from generic mod bitching, so I'm inclined to attribute that to poetic license. For instance, the article says my site was started after a bunch of us left the board, when it had been around for several years prior to the particular episode being described.

Yes, you did back up what you were saying with a hard to take serious website. This is Internet: stuff gets said here and there and perpetuates.
