Title: United Nations Day!
Post by: B E C K on Oct 23, 2010, 01:50:33 PM
It's tomorrow!  Make sure you put those presents under your United Nations tree and leave milk and cookies for Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and General Assembly President Joseph Deiss.  I only put one plate out so they better share.

Is that why you didn't take it?
Title: Re: United Nations Day!

That would be a rather silly reason, would it not?

No, I was just too lazy to move from Philly to Manhattan. Since I was going to get a "starter" position I wasnt going to get enough money to pay for rent in Manhattan, would have had to move to Queens, or even worse, the Bronx. Fuck no. Of course later you get paid good money, I know since I have some uncles that work there (and no, they didn't help me getting teh job since we weren't in speaking terms then). Later when I had moved to Manhattan and was speaking with them again I decided not to re-apply since I was preggers anyways

What was the job for?  What would you have been doing?

Entry administrative level, so in other's words, someone's bitch. It was a bitch to apply though cause first I had to give an exam in 3 different languages and then a general knowledge exam. The first years, if you start from the beginning, suck but then it gets better. I just didnt feel like starting from the beginning.

What would have been the third language?  French?  (I'm assuming two of the others were English and Spanish.)

You don't speak Spanish? But you live in San Antonio! (right?) Your city's name is in Spanish!

I took French in high school. Not one of my smarter moves. I'd have been better off going to the Choctaw school and learning Chata than French.

Yup, those are the principle foreign languages of my area: Chata and Spanish. Occasionally we get people who speak Cajun, but they respond well to semaphore.

And this obligates me to speak Spanish WHY?  Just saying.  I mean, I live in the same country you do.   Why don't YOU speak Spanish?  :P

If you look at the context, it is pretty easy to guess that it is what the Choctaw speak.

I forget that not everyone lives where they are bombarded with casino billboards everywhere they drive. They are Indians. I know they are quite common in Oklahoma (where the casino's I mention I are).

The Choctaws are a Native American tribe indigenous to Mississippi and Oklahoma. The Choctaw nation is where everybody around here goes to gamble and buy untaxed cars and cigarettes.

You had no right to get all up in arms about it. All you did was inhale a cloud of human-generated flatus complete with microscopic turd particles.

Considering how much curry he probably eats, I'm sure the fart hurt him a lot more then it hurt you.

None of the from-India Indians I encountered in my engineering school days ever seemed to bathe, either. Didn't know why, and I never asked...I just knew not to sit on their furniture. And the lobby couch was totally off-limits unless you wanted to smell like a septic tank for a week, since many of those guys would crash there overnight.

They may have been used to bathing in a river.

Didn't hear it, didn't see it coming, nothing. I just went through it. Like a good war machine
