Cliffnotes version:  We were fucking burglarized at the house we're moving into and we're only six days though our year long lease.  As grateful as I should be that they appear to prefer stealing my tampons to stealing my CDs, I'd still rather not fricking live there just the same.

I've never been robbed.

I'm prepared, though! I have a 3 foot long metal pipe that wants to crack some skull bone.

Unless they have a gun.

My home's been burglarized on Christmas and now and possibly when I was around 4 or 5, but I don't remember that.  Last year, someone stole some plants from our backyard.  My purse has been stolen from twice.  I'm tired of thieves.  I try to be prepared to beat any thief I see with a tennis racket but opportunity is a cruel mistress.

I was robbed in October 1997. Amongst the taken:

Around $1000 worth of my mother's jewelry, and all her answering machine tapes (?)

My SuperNES, Game Boy, and Virtual Boy, along with...hell, shelves of cartridges and peripherals. EXCEPT for the stand to the Virtual Boy (!?)

A gallon of expired milk.

Post by: B E C K on Aug 06, 2004, 11:29:29 AM
:(  Maybe they didn't realize what the stand was for.  Did they seriously take the milk?  How did they break in?  Do you still live there?

No, that was in my mother's house in Charlotte. He lifted the window up with a crowbar and skipped by all fo this extrememly valuable 18th century silver on his way upstairs. And I forgot hat he dumped out all of mother's weights and shit from her workout bag and apparently stuffed what he could carry in the bag.

Had a small lead, a fella who was shown on the news, but no one was ever caught.

They have to be one pretty clean thief by now.  I had everything but douches in that box.  If it was the whores across the street, I can see how taking the Scope might've been a business decision.

I've never been robbed from my house, but I've been robbed from my locker when I worked at the Grand Fucking Harbor.

Goddamn housekeepers (who were paid more than me, I might add) stole a total of $70 from my locker in the course of two weeks.  Finally I bought a lock, but fortunately I had already put in my two weeks and was leaving in three days.   Assfaces.

At least you had a locker.  Fast food is so cheap anyone who goes into the employee area can have access to your bag.  Fuck.  I need a new line of work.  Admittedly, it's kinda fun and super easy but I need some better money.

If you can connect the words "fun" and "work" together, you've achieved something rare, and should probably think more than twice about keeping it.

I sometimes have fun at work.

Now there's rumors flying at my waitressing job that someone steals tip cups and money from the register.

That's true, Megs, and that's why I've been here so long.  At the same time though, I need to connect "paycheck" with "car" or "place to live" and I can't do that here.  I don't even earn 6.50 an hour.  That isn't gonna cut it.  Maybe if I get some good financial aid this year, I can stay here longer.

Ever think about a dog?  Seriously.  I can highly recommend American Eskimos for scaring the piss out of anyone who comes near the house.  Extremely protective toward their families, but not on any insurance company or landlord shit list as a "biting breed".  BTW, family includes cats.  Whenever Maki hears MommaKitty getting picked on, he charges baying throught the house, runs the offender out of the yard, and comes back to snuffle her in the tummy.   :)

He also loves to hump on Guinness. one of our black male cats, so he busts color, gender and species taboos all at once.  We're so proud of him.

aww im sorry to hear that Nuri..

We "got robed" twice. Actually only once. the first time it was a sunday, no one in the fucking house, not even the guardian outside, and we got the car in the garage, and i grabbed my boxer puppy and start running thru the front yard to the entrance, and then i saw 2 guys getting out of the house saying "nothing happened". first reaction i had is that one of the maids arrived early and those were there having a menage et trois or who the hell knows, but by the time my dad saw them they were already gone.
2nd time was on elections day, also  sunday, also with no one in my house. all my family came to my house to eat but we decided to go to a chinese restaurant, so we all went. by the time we came back the 1st door was kinda opened, my boxer(by that time he was already like 3 years old) was jumping around like fucking bambi, and there were boxes everywhere. we got in and all our electrodomestics were gone, i mean ALL of them. we went out to the street and called the police, and while we were waiting a car of "black eagles" (they are like the swat here) passed by and asked us if we just got robbed and my dad said yes and they said they found the thieves in a car like 40 minutes away from my house! we were SOOO lucky! they talked about it in 2 newspapers! :D

See, Nuri, that's why you need some sort of weapon of ass destruction. No one will try to rob you if word gets around that you wailed on the last thieving jerk with a lead pipe.

We've been robbed twice, and almost robbed once. The first time we were actually robbed was when I was little, I don't remember what was stolen. The second was less than a year ago, when some asshole stole my dad's ATV. Then on Christmas Eve last year, a creepy man came to our door asking to come inside and use our phone to call his girlfriend at his uncle's house. oO As soon as the guy asked to come in, my dad left the room and you could hear him loading one of his guns. The guy laft without giving us any trouble, but it was still fucking scary.

Shoot em.

I have this feeling, from the description, that these are the type of ghetto teens who think being stupid is cool, who think being smart is being a nerd, and flunking school is the way to go, and then never getting your GED, or going to college, and so you live off your parents, and live in the ghetto, and only have minimum wage jobs the rest of your life, as you hang out in the streets, walk around in shitty ass sports jerseys and baggy clothing, doing drugs, stealing shit, joining gangs, shooting people, blasting your fucking shitty rap music out your bling car, and thinking your cool even though you suck and you'll never amount to anything except as cannon fodder.

Kill them. You'll be doing humanity a favor.

Hate not the inept, but the able who encourage them.

Is there any way you can back out of that lease?
Its obvious the realator or whoever didnt tell you about the neighborhood before you thought to move there.
Rent a lil storage place and keep looking?
Or you could pay to have a 10 ft stone wall erected around the house.

That sounds about exactly right D, except you forgot to mention whores somewhere.  There's people at work like that, too, popping out kids like nobody's business.  This 16 yr old guy is going on his second kid.  WTF?  God, I want to smack the shit out of him.  The fact that those types of people are multiplying themselves into a majority is frightening.

The realtor does seem a bit shady, Gwynn.  The home really is good, and there are various other homes peppered throughout the general area that also look like they belong to upstanding people.  it's just many of the other neighbors.  My parents want to try beefing up the security (a system, lights, possibly even a dog) and hope it doesn't happen again.  It's not something we can afford to do so readily (cash or time wise) and it's also just a temporary home for the year.  I'm still incredibly wary, and if it just doesn't get better I'm gonna ask mom to try and negotiate a release with the realtor.  Even if we tried to move out ASAP, we'd be stuck there for a while anyway, because we'll have to be out of our current home by the 15th and we have no where else to go while looking for another house.

I live out in the middle of buttfuck nowehre. LITERALLY. Just outside Cowtown with three acres of property. Ever since I was little we've had a minimum of TWO dogs of good size, and just recently we got Zanna, a Little dog with enough energy to tear a man's throat out, and then there's Charlie, of whom could CRIPPLE me if he did a flying jump to me.

Then there are the Emu's...God help any burglar that stumbles into THAT pen. We'll be scooping his balls out of the pen for days.
...So yeah. Never been robbed. Then again, it gets to either NEAR freezing temperatures *or around that* or High Heat out here.
...Plus we got shit to begin with. We got some computers, some TV's, the game consoles.....Those are the most expensive.
...Not including my Guitar. Anyone touches the guitar there WILL be a manhunt and vengeance. Starting with the Damn Rose kids up on the hill....

....My suggestion as to your cats is to keep'em inside as often as possible.

We are trying to keep a positive outlook but it is hard to do especially since we heard guns shoots early early sunday morning (no it wasn't fire crackers ppl!) Nuri called the police to go chell it out.  We think it came from a party on the ajacent street.  Early in the night Nuri had spotted a fire truck there.  So I don't know what the hell is going on with those people.  I just wish their welfare (no offense to anyone who actually needs it) asses would get a job!  I am tired of seeing those people just sitting around watching us.

We used to have some losers like that across the street one house over; grown kids of the people who lived there.  On one of the first trips we made moving stuff in, I got out of the truck with my Enfield .303 slung over my shoulder, like I was used to carrying it like that, & paused outside long enough to make sure everybody saw.   They still had the parties until 2 AM & regular visits from the cops, but they never hassled us like they did our next-door neighbors.

Then again, Eddie's shaved head & death metal stickers on the old beat-up Blazer probably didn't hurt either.

Poor doggy.  At least you got him back.  I don't know if it'll help, but I'm putting frosted privacy film over the bottom windows in the living room so they won't be taken note of from across the street should they sit there.  I'm going to try and keep them out of my and Merla's rooms.

Of course it doesn't help if something they stole has this url and they're reading this post.  I wish I remembered exactly what I had in that box.  There shouldn't have been anything hugely important but I'm notorious for keeping papers here and there.  I'm wondering if my old state ID was in there.  I know now that they got my toenail clippers.

Yea, get a guard dog.

Or learn how to shoot guns.

I went to a shooting range down here in AZ, and it's not easy. The bigger guns have a lot of kickback which makes it hard to shoot one handed as well as aiming. You'd also be suprised how hard it is to aim. I shot a target at 50 ft, and only got 3 hits out of 9.
