I went to an annual all-day anime event at a local large university. It's not a convention, it's just an event where they play lots of anime in multiple theaters, have cosplay, merchandise, raffle, amv contest...actually it kinda sounds like a mini-con.
And of course, it was infested with scary hardcore otaku.
The costume contest was laughable at best. I don't think I even need to mention what kind of crappy costumes people wore. What was worse was that since this wasn't a huge convention, most people didn't work very hard on their costumes so half of them sucked.
The raffle was almost as bad. I saw large geeky otaku with $30-40 worth of tickets... if you're gonna spend that much money just buy the fucking item you want.
I only had one ticket myself. Suprisingly, having not won anything at any anime raffle in the past, I actually won something: A shounen-ai manga in japanese. And then had two large, ugly looking fangirls fight each other to get it from me. Shit.
The AMV section was the best part. This video was the best, especially with the election. (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=50242) "Saddam has agreed to our demands." "Well, I'm George Dubya Bush, and I say WHATEVER!" :D
Reviews on the anime I did see there:
Weiss Kreuz
Seen it before, Still like it.
Girls Bravo
Dear god. Not another anime where the main character is male and gets into embarassing situations with girls who then proceed to beat the fuck out of him because he fell in their cleavage. I didn't like Love Hina, and I think this anime is shit.
Puppet Master Saikon
Much love for a puppet who solves mysteries. A+
Mai HiME
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! This anime is God!

And people say I post wierd things.
-
No, you just post a lot.

They're screening three hours of anime at my school. What it is, I have no idea. If they're artsy-fartsy, it'll probably be something like Tokyo Godfathers. If they're uber-geeky, it'll probably be fansubbed something or other that almost no one's heard of yet. If they're just retarded, it'll be Dragon Ball Z. Either way, I don't think I'm interested.

Ask for Ai no Kusabi & Patalirro, Nuri. The reaction should be amusing, if nothing else.

Always suggest Urotsukidoji. Always.
-
I say Patlabor.

CINDERELLA BOY!

No one's heard of Mai HiME yet?
Guess it's because it only came out a month ago. :/
I met the most annoying extrovert ubergeek in the computer lab. He saw I was browsing some anime image board, asked me what I was looking at, got all nosy, then sat down next to me and looked at online mangas and told me in a loud voice why they were all cool.
I "accidently" hit him in the head with my heavy ass backpack as I was leaving.

For some reason I keep thinking D is aDam.

Nah. I just can't picture D in a dress.
-
I can if he has man tities.

Gee, you think?
And I saw a poster for the event, it was Cowboy Bebop. That's like Dragon Ball Z for the slightly older set. Bah. And it apparently wasn't an "anime" event but an "anima" event. I guess there could be some underlying Jungian principle in Cowboy Bebop, but frankly I never analyze anything enough to really know these sorts of things.

 I'm picturing an anime based on Jung and it isn't pretty.
