Title: obvious post- Oscars thread
Post by: Faye Valentine on Mar 08, 2010, 08:30:04 AM
I'm happy the Austrian guy won cause he's KICKASS.
I'm even happier that Mo'nique won and the movie won too for adapted screenplay. I think it should have won the best picture one BUT of all the best pictures nominees I only watched Avatar (i dont think they even deserved to be nominated imo), Inglorious Basterds (funny movie but thats it) and District 9 (awesomeee movie but its sci fi and that kind never wins an oscar), AND never watched the other ones so I dont know how good they were or not. But Precious is fucking amazing.

Everyone I have talked to said Hurt Lucker was god damn fucking amazing. I am definitely going to watch it now. I just wish I had done so when it was in the theatres.

The hell?

I entered a contest where I had to guess the winners, and I think I guessed all of them right. I'm sure I did, although I was stupid and didn't write down what I had guessed.

Maybe I was tied with 10 other people and they just randomly pulled winners out of a hat to choose one.

I'm glad Avatar didn't win best picture. It was a pretty movie but definitely not Oscar material, plotwise.

There was also a Kanye moment that I missed.

During an interview the black guy said that only one person was supposed to be on stage.

Quote
WILLIAMS: Only one person is allowed to accept the award. I was the director, and she was removed from the project nearly a year ago, but she was able to still qualify as a producer on the project, and be an official nominee. But she was very angry -- she actually removed herself from the project – because she wanted more creative control.

But from what I saw, the announcer named both of them, and there was 2 statues up there. So I assume he just wanted her to stand there and not say anything. I don't think she should have interrupted, but she should have been able to say a few words herself.

I never watch so I have to look this shit up:

Best Picture:  The Hurt Locker (Kathryn Bigelow)
Actor in a Leading Role:  Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart)
Actress in a Leading Role:  Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)
Directing:  The Hurt Locker (Kathryn Bigelow)

I didn't think The Hurt Locker was all that great but I'm just happy Avatar nabbed next to nothing.  And as much as I love Helen and Meryl--Meryl's Julia was fucking brilliant--Sandra needed to finally be recognized.

A Razzie and an Academy Award in the same year?  That's impressive, Ms. Bullock.

I feel like watching Inglorious Basterds just to see how awesome that guy is. Again.
