Fuck you Will Smith, fuck you.
-
I'm not really raging too bad, except for a couple of things.
That music is fucking awful.
And the kid should be at least a few years older.
-
What about the ghetto ass name, "Dre" (really?), it being a kung fu movie and yet still being called Karate Kid, the freaking kid that is like what, 10 years old? and Jackie freaking Chan?
-
Like Transfromers and G.I. Joe I'm planning on acting like this movie doesn't exist.
-
I just shat blood. Will Smith has failed at everything since Wild Wild West destroyed his career.
-
Yeah, the whole thing smacks of something that was a product of comittee decision making and focus groups.
-
I was irritated when I first heard about Chan in it, but in the preview I didn't mind it as much. But I didn't even catch the Kung Fu thing. Stupid asses.
-
Kinda hard to have a Chinese guy teaching him a Japanese form of Marital Arts. Guess they think the public is too stupid to know the difference between the two, thus it still being called the Karate Kid even though the movie has nothing to do with Karate.
-
The general public won't give a shit and will probably love it while us here on the internet will bitch and moan.
-
So, in summary...
1. Nepotism is stinky.
2. Jackie Chan = win, but teaching KARATE?
3. Dre = stupid. There are black people named Daniel.
4. Why China? Why not Japan? <a href=">Who can do karate better than Japanese?[/url]
5. Yes, kid's too young.
6. Acting chops didn't look too great from the trailer.
7. Re: music. It could've been worse.
I had heard about this earlier on as being a movie where the kid lives in the ghetto and is taught karate to defend himself, which to me--while hardly more original--still would've been a much better movie.
-
I thought this was kung fu now?
-
It technically is but apparently isn't since the title still says Karate. They should've just called it The Kung Fu Kid.
-
But then it wouldn't be a needless rehash and they also wouldn't be raping my childhood and Hollywood loves to do that so.
-
Your childhood was asking for it. Just look at še way it's dressed!
-
Look at those stockings for crying out loud.
-
Mmm, lucious lines.
-
Hey! My childhood is a saint!
-
A dirty saint that's just asking for it.
-
Eh, I never liked the Karate Kid movies. Though Pat Morita was fun to watch with Jay Leno in Collision Course.
-
The general public won't give a shit and will probably love it while us here on the internet will bitch and moan.
I hope it fails greatly.
-
Me, too. I need this to crash and burn.
-
Sadly we don't always get what we want. I wanted Transformers would fail so that other 80s properties might be taken in different directions instead of trying to copy that movie. And I wanted Avatar to fail just so Cameron's ego could be brought into chell a little bit. Neither happened, so I'm going to try the opposite and hope this one is a huge hit, so that it can then fail.
-
Can you do the same for the Last Airbender? That racist piece of tripe can't be allowed to succeed either. I figure I'll push for failure on these things, you push for success, and something will eventually give out.
-
Sounds good to me. Course me hoping for success is just a lack of hoping they'll crash and burn.
-
No, no, really put yourself into these things, dammit!
-
Man...Fine. Yay! I hope Karate Kid beat Titanic's Box office! D-R-E = B-O-M-B! Fuck Daniel San.
-
HAHAHAHHAHAHAH
Not gonna happen.
-
I would've if they got a hotter Asian dude than Jackie Chan. And a hotter, older Daniel-character, too. There'd be so many teen girls in the theaters the ushers would be equipped with buckets!
-
I don't know if anyone could make the rare sexual energy of Pat Morita.
-
This is true. I always wanted to see Pat Morita and Mako tongueing it out. Alas, they're frenching in heaven now.
-
...ew.
-
Tongue in, tongue out.
