Brittany Murphy came to Hollywood as a teenager full of talent and promise – but struggled to reach her full potential over her 18-year career, sources tell PEOPLE, due to a set of "inner demons" that included troubling body image issues.
"She was drastically different when she entered the business," a friend tells PEOPLE "Full of life, determined. But over the past few years, [she went] downhill. There was always something off, something in the way. She had a lot of inner demons."
Two weeks before Murphy's sudden Dec. 20 death at age 32, her frail form raised eyebrows at the Tt Collection Pop-up Party in Los Angeles Dec. 3, resurrecting eating disorder and drug abuse rumors that have shadowed the actress for years.
In 2002, after Murphy revealed a radically slimmed-down silhouette in the film Spun – a departure from the rounder figure that fans remembered from her breakout 1994 film, Clueless – tabloids linked her weight loss to cocaine.
There's more, follow the link if you care. She had a heart attack.
-
32 and had a heart attack. It had to be drugs.
-
Meth is a helluvadrug.
-
She also had flu symptoms before the arrest. It sounds like she may have had to many problems at once and broke down (drugs, flu, a failed career). I still personally liked her, but most of her work was not what one would call 'achieved.'
-
I liked her.
And she did "achieve" because she made it. She realized her dream and then drowned in a sea of drugs. After I'm famous and die in about a decade or so there will be no mystery as to how I passed. The bodies of slain shark demons will wash up on the shores of australia and the orphans I saved will make sure I'm never forgotten even if my movies are only as notable as clueless.
-
If she really did have body images issues, Clueless must have been the worst choice for a first movie
-
Well she's now with Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash's careers. The guy who plays Turk on Scrubs and Paul Rudd managed to escape.
-
And she did "achieve" because she made it.
I agree. People can say what they will about her career but most of them will still know who she was. They've seen Clueless, Sin City, Happy Feet... or heard her hit single with Paul Oakenfold or heard her on King of the Hill. She got her name out there, got work in television and film, and was recognized by her peers. I'd say she achieved a lot.

I read somewhere that it made them worse.
The guy who plays Turk on Scrubs
HA HA, I didn't even realize that's who he was. I knew that dude looked familiar.
Some other site--like a Yahoo! news page or something--had a whole list of the meds found in her possession. Pretty much a recipe for instant death if she took them all together.
-
I would have liked to issue my body to hers. But only as she appeared in some movies. Nah, fuck it, I'd fuck her.
-
Just one more casualty of 2009. Glad we all made it out alive.
-
I don't know...we haven't heard from Bernie in awhile.
-
:nurinono:
-
She did take alot of pills.
-
She was the only Brittany that was worth a damn. On the planet.
A great loss to Brittanykind.
And I was a fan of her in her movies.
-
Gwen just made me think about Ashley Spinerelli and I probably spelled that wrong.
-
Jaseofff just made me think of Spinderella from Salt 'n Pepa and I probably spelled that wrong.
-
My name does not have an a, the o is in the wrong spot and replace all 'f's with a ph.
-
Jaseofff: Apply directly to the forehead!
-
I ws about to Jaseoff, but my Mom walked in.
-
And you did her instead?
-
And if you did...did you film said encounter?
-

Now Kary's Mom works out and wears thongs.
Mmmm.
-
Can you videotape her working out?
-
...well she lives in Savanah. Kinda far.
Milf working out pr0n, could work. I wonder if I could start a pr0n website.
-
Huh, cool. I finally remembered my password to this.
No video tape of my mom working out in a thong.
Just no. >.<
-
Bidding starts tomorrow.
>:D :blamerama:

There's a website out there already dedicated to athletic MILFs. I just can't remember the damn URL.

Not yet registered!

Make it so.
-
Damn it beck I'm an analyst not a web manager.
-
You're an anal-yst? What do you anal-yze? I was wondering what sort of job you had from that vid you posted.
-
We're all analysts based on this forum. Just horrible analysts that offer real insight with dick jokes and references to things we have no idea about nor that applies to anything normal.
-
He's the world's first analyst-therapist
-
You mean an analrapist??
I'm a network systems analyst. I work on various clients' Cisco network systems.
-
Hot!
-
My job description makes you hot?
-
Show us your business card!
-
...descroption?
Edit: much better. :3
-
I almost caught that, but had already hit send. Oh well, too late, oh wait, no its not.
I don't even have a business card. How sad for me. Someone make me a business card, please?
-
Do you want it printed on bone? It has good coloring.
-
ACTUAL BONE?
HUMAN BONE?
CAUSE, THEN, YES
-
No, bone! Kinda like ecru and not quite cream. What does a network anal-yst really do anyway? What does your day entail, do tell.
-
I don't know. Throwing a human femur across a desk at someone would make a lasting impression.
-
I monitor our clients networks, and whn shit fucks up, I try to fix it, but it's usually the advice providers probel. So I usually just call them and tell them to fix the suit.

Because I'm curious and nosy, what qualifications did you need for the job? How did you get it?
-
What is it, ya do here?
-
He's not counterfeiting money.
Fail. I was making a reference to one of the greatest movies of all times: American Psycho
-
As was I.
-
No you weren't!
-
...we're not going there.
-
Go there, go there!
-
It's on?
-
Don't ask! Tell!

Wow, I was blasted when I typed that. And I'm pretty sure when I typed it, it all looked perfectly correct.
To answer your question, there are various certifications that are typically tied to specific hardware and software vendors. In my case I specialize in Cisco network hardware, so I have a certification (and should have several more by now, but I got distracted) that specifically has to do with analyzing and fixing network issues related to Cisco hardware. You don't have to go to school for it, but you do need to study pretty hard to pass the tests, and having actual experience with the devices (even if only in the lab environment) is highly recommended, but not required. You at least need to be able to recognize the shit if its staring in front of you, and you need to have a bit of skills with accessing the device. Luckily Cisco gave out a free simulator, which is not so robust, but gives you something somewhat like actually accessing, configuring, and troubleshooting the devices.
At my level, the tests are all done through multiple choice questions, but when you get the Expert (for most Cisco paths, this is the highest) level, you actually have to perform a whole bunch of lab work in a restricted amount of time, and before you do that you have to go to an interview with the Cisco supernerds to make sure they're not wasting the lab time by letting shit fucks in.
EDIT: However, I don't think I answered your questions. When I got the job I was halfway through a four semester course for the second level of certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate). I only had some technical knowledge and hands on experience, and I got the job by going to a job fair at the school I was taking classes at and meeting a black man named Doc, who may or may not be the character from GI Joe.

Couldja tell me, what exactly it is, ya do here?

You misunderstood me, I was genuinely surprised not because I thought IBM wasn't suitable for you, I just always assumed you would do something other than that. What that something else is, I have no fucking clue, so I shouldn't have been surprised in the first place. I think I just confused myself on top of that.

:nono:
-
Would it help if I said I'm sorry in a low voice to myself while I hang my head in shame?
-
Say it in a real low voice, like when Ellen-fish was talking to the whale in Finding Nemo. "I....'m... so....r...ry... Fa....ye..."
-
I would totally do that.
-
Dory! That's her fucking name! I couldn't remember it and refused to Google.
-
So did you remember it or what?
