Merla and I were talking about this. It doesn't really matter why. Frankly, I think too many people are gross enough as it is. It's enough to handle a book or computer or whatever that hundreds of people have touched, let alone deal with crumbs, hands freshly in mouths, spills, and that nonsense.

It always annoyed me, though thankfully most won't let you even bring bottled water. Given the germs on the books, I don't see why you would want to eat a slice of pizza with.

There is an easy solution to that. You get your ass up out of the chair, leave, go get something to eat, and then return and no longer be hungry. Even in my little slice of nowhere there are plenty of places to eat within a short distance of the Library.

Well, supposedly, UT Austin can do it because they're a tier one school while other schools in the UT system prohibit it. So no, I don't think it's just a Texas thing but I also don't know how many schools outside TX allow it. Not only does the UT school here prohibit it, but you can literally walk downstairs and get something to eat, so it doesn't make that much sense why ppl insist on doing it anyway.

No less than four friends/family members told me I HAD to go to Whataburger, so I did when I had the opportunity. The closest analog I could find to it was the Sonic hamburgers...no better or worse.

I've heard hype about Whataburger before too, but saying they taste like Sonic Burgers is pretty meh. There is a local place here called Beach Burger that has the best burger I've ever had.

I don't eat meat anymore so my opinion is somewhat dated, the only thing I thought was exceptional about there food was the bacon and the fries.

Re: Shwiggie's "had hype, tastes like Sonic". Dude, you've said this before and all I can say is wherever you went, they either make them wrong at Whataburger or great at Sonic. The Sonics here have a pathetic-looking burger and the Whataburgers are fan-diddly-tastic and not even comparable to Sonic. However, they certainly aren't something I would neccessarily hype to anyone. They just taste great and if I want a burger, 9 out 10 that's where I go.
Taco Bueno: there's one around here but never had the urge to try it. I don't really eat that sort of food when I go out to buy something.

They have one at Gillette Stadium. They're delicious, as are the fries and free peanuts. Every time me and Kary go to the stadium complex, we at least have the fries.

I'm sorry I repeated it, so let me amend my statement by saying that the Jackson, MS, Whataburger's burgers taste like Sonic's burgers. It's true for Jackson, MS, and not necessarily anywhere else. You heard it here.
You also heard it reiterated for the millionth time right here that Hardee's has the best burger than any other fast food place I've visited. But only if you order them without onions or something; otherwise you get 'em cold and prepared beforehand, which is not as advertised.

The hospital cafeteria where I work automatically put it on there unless you tell them otherwise.

In Miami, they put mayo on everything. My third night there, I had a floor meeting in the dorm. RA ordered a giant Italian sub. Living in the North East, the only dressing on an Italian sub is oil and vinegar. My room mate was from Buffalo. We both nearly died when we bit in, and there was more mayo than meat.
People at subway would ask for regular and lite mayo together. Jesus. Fuck.

All I know is some asshat a long time ago thought that if you put bacon on something you must also put Mayo. Bacon makes everything better, mayo not so much.

At FSU you could eat in the lobby area which was fine, but I don't want to hear some fuck crunching on ruffles while I'm on 60mg of adderol. I'm likely to jump up on the desk and deliver a macho man elbow in that case.

At MSU they had a coffee shop in the library, but you could only eat and drink in its sitting area.

FIU had a cafe and Starbucks on the bottom floor, but then the library was the second through ninth floors, and giant doors kept you from bringing delights.

We had them infiltrating their stink in the EE lounge. Sitting on the couches there was a very bad idea, as the whole place smelled of BO and unpleasant ethnic odors. Apparently their oriental beliefs did not include bathing but advocated attempts at covering up BO with worse things.
And forget using the phone for anything (in the days before everybody and their dog had a cell). You answer the phone, and you got was clicking noises asking for Rasheed or Ventekesh. So we'd just start answering with something like, "Taco Bell, home of the fabulous gordita."

The worst experience from FIU's dorms was, I had just dropped Kary off at her dorm for some reason. I then went to the elevator and entered. Inside were 3 Indian guys dressed for a night clubbing, even though I think it was Monday or Tuesday, a very odd night to go out since I didn't know any clubs open on those days. Whatever. I enter and the smell is unbearable. BO and curry. I was nearly crying. I went down the three floors in misery and pain. I cried.

On campus we have Subway, Chick-fil-a, Einsteins Bros. Bagels, Starbucks, Taco Cabana, Burger King, some sandwich place, a pizza/pasta place, an over priced salad bar, Freshens, and a sushi place.
We have a NO FOOD policy in the library but people just ignore it and eat. I find it so repulsive. Smacking away and licking their finger while they are at the computer. I hate to think of all the fecal matter on those keyboards. Students sneak in all kinds of food, even whole meals (i.e. Olive Garden, Red Lobster) whole pizzas, buckets of chicken. It is so nasty. I tell them they cannot come in with and half the time I get someone mouthing off "Well at UT Austin they let you." I feel like saying well then go the f--- back to UT Austin.

I wanted a chicken salad sandwich this weekend and all my dad kept stocked up was mayo. I couldn't finish it. Next time, I'll have to remember a small jar of Miracle Whip Light.

Mayo's too thick for me. It feels heavy when I eat it. I feel like I killed an alien insect and am feasting on its guts. Miracle Whip Light is thinner and has a little zip to it which I likes.

With a cooked piece of chicken or fish, yes. On a bologna sandwich or in chicken salad, no.
