The trees are just starting to change over, and tomorrow me and Kary are going to pick apples at the orchard. Nothing beats fresh apples and assorted apple things with fresh hard cider. Then comes pumpkin stuff, including a pumpkin festival on my brother's 21st birthday, which I can't wait to make stuffed pumpkin. Then comes my birthday, and then comes all hallowed eve, in the meantime it's gonna get cold... and FOOTBALL!!!! :aroused:
This is my favorite season.
-
Fall to me is the calm before the shitstorm that is post-Halloween/Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Christmas season/New Year's crap. November to mid-January is my least favorite part of the year. I know it's f'ed up to not enjoy these things more, but considering I used to sleep through all of them and now I maintain relatively awake and sometimes even participate, progress appears to have been made.
I've never had cider before. What the heck is "stuffed pumpkin"? Duh, it's a pumpkin, but what do you stuff it with? Is it for eating? I'd sooner assume it's some weird sexual thing were it not for the context of your post.
-
Take some rice and meat, stuff inside pumpkin, bake and then serve the pumpkin and filling.
-
What kind? Like red meat or chicken? Do you use itty-bitty pumpkins or Oprah-sized?
-
Depends.
What I am going to try is an Egyptian recipe for stuff pidgeon, but using that stuffing in the pumpkin.
-
Throw in the pigeon, too.
-
November to mid-January is my least favorite part of the year.
I hate Jan-March. I call it the Stretch of Death. This is usually the coldest part of the year here and when we get snow and ice. Also a lot of stuff just closes here after Christmas, since they depend so much on Tourist dollars and we don't get any at that time of year. If they don't close completely then they have winter hours (usually 9 AM- 6PM). Then there is college Basketball's domination of the airwaves at this time. Which I couldn't give two shits about. Maybe if I moved and didn't have to deal with this kinda stuff I'd like that time of year better.
-
So after your birthday, it's all downhill from there?
-
I dislike July after the fourth up to the end of August. It's always too hot and there's never anything interesting aside from maybe a good summer movie.
-
So after your birthday, it's all downhill from there?
Actually I don't care much for my birthday either. It was always so close after Christmas I never got anything good (that was all wasted on Christmas.) and half the time my presents came wrapped in left over Christmas paper.
It starts going downhill for me right before Christmas. I always have hope before Christmas. Then it gets ruined for me and things arn't right again till April Fools day. I do take comfort in the fact that Halloween comes right before this, and at Thanksgiving no one shows up to ruin it for me...so It's just a day to eat turkey and watch movie marathons.

I generally dislike this time of the year too for the same reason (heat), although I was always conflicted because of my birthday. We had like 35 days of over 100 degree heat here.

Which is why I could never live anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line. Yes, I lived in Florida, but that was an accepted temporary state to save money.
-
How did it save you money?
-
Gator wrestling.
-
Everyone knows that's a money drain.
-
Not when done right, tourists pay big bucks for gator tail.
Actually, my parents were residents of Florida. I had to go there or else pay through the ass for my edumication. Plus, Kary lived in Miami. Where was I going to go, Gainesville?
-
Every season has its caveats and good points, though I could do without summer. But I have to say that we've had one of our more temperate years here in MS.
-
November through March is the best time here. I wish I could move or hibernate (in a 3-story pier & beam house on a hill) from May through October. I'm hoping the flood demons will be content with the April sacrifice and spare us the usual October 2-day monsoon.
-
Weather-wise, it's admittedly pretty good. Also, I hate losing my one hour for DST. I loved it when I was a kid, but now it kinda sucks to lose that hour of daylight. Maybe I'll change my tune if I get a job that requires me to early morning commute and start desperately grasping for daylight.

How dare Autumn get ahead. Americans love four-letter words!
-
Autumn sounds like a modern-day chick's name.

Have you seen 500 Days of Summer? You should watch it.
-
Doesn't sound like my kind of thing.
-

Well Fall is Germanic. I see using it akin to supporting the Nazis.
-
Well I heard that 'merica is socialist anyway, so why the hyuck not?

Sieg Heil! Can I get a goosestep all up in here!?

Fuck Jerry! Fuck him right in the ear.

I'm diggin' grilled fresh native cr0n.
Tomorrow is the town's pumpkin festival.

Jerry Fawell?
Well, considering that he's a conservative christian who probably doesn't believe in sex outside of marriage, ear fucking is just about the only thing he's allowed to do.
:joe:
-
And the fact he's been dead for a few years should just make it better for you guys.
-
I'm actually a little sad to see šis summer go. It was incredibly mild compared to most years. I žink we only hit 90s a couple weeks.
-
So listen.
I've been gone for while.
Why is Sam doing that?
-
Cause he is an Uber Nerd.
-
I just don't get it.
-
So listen.
I've been gone for while.
Why is Sam doing that?
Well, I've been here for a while and I still don't know why. Like the Sunchip multipack that shortchanges you on Garden Salsa even though it's best Sunchip flavor, it is something I have learned to simply accept and no longer question.
-
Can you just buy Garden Salsa on it's own?
-
That's not the point! I want it in the tiny bag!
-
Ok Ok....Tiny Bag. Got it.
-
Write an angry letter.
Include a picture of yourself defiling the Sunchip brand managers image.
-

That's right. Because I don't eat a whole lotta chips that often, so part of the bag always gets stale before I can get to it.

Tempting, very tempting.
-
*takes notes*
No big bag...Garden Salsa.
-
-
What?
-
Also share the picture with us.
-
So listen.
I've been gone for while.
Why is Sam doing that?
When še board was dead dead back in June, I declared:
I'm going to liven žing's up on šis board by bringing back še "ethe" (Š/š )and "thorn" (Ž/ž) letters.
t+h is for losers.
I stand by my pledge.
Also, what še hell? Garden Salsa? Harvest Cheddar all še way, my dear.
-
My personal choices keep me from eating the rest, but I have always preferred the original.
And Sam, that's cool. I've liked "thorn" for sometime and not just because it looks like someone giving a raspberry.
Actually, that pretty much is why.

Are you fucking serious, you are doing that through here too? -_-
-
Harvest Cheddar does not beat Garden Salsa. No way, no how.
I stand by my pledge.

Pledge is made by SC Johnson, located right here in Racine, Wisconsin.

You must be shiny and lemon fresh.

PACKERS! WOOOOOOO!
-
Poor Packers, they're going to be raped tomorrow night.
-
Ironic given their name.
-
Especially given the Vikings will be... well packing in the Packers. Honestly, I don't see Aaron Rogers doing much save crying too much. Adrian Peterson will use the tears as lubrication.
-
Vikings and always raping and pillaging...mostly raping.
-
Especially in Green Bay; easy access for the long boats.
-
I was very dissapointed in the Cowboys yesterday. Some of you may already know this.
-
Tony Romo is from right here in Burlington, WI. We played him in high school. One of my best friends was on his offensive line.
See? It all comes back to Wisconsin.
-
Hey I just ate cheese. Werid.
-
Sam. What happened?
I could not believe the number of incompletes he threw, but Denver was playing a great defense. There offense wouldn't have had a chance if their D wasn't playing so well.

Well, nothing good that is.

*Krusty groan* I had to sit through that game.
-
What? Why?
-
Visiting a football-crazy woman's house. Captive audience for the tragedy.
-
I was wondering if Merla traded up Figure Skating for Football for a moment.
-
The Vikings Packers game was actually pretty good and fairly even, until Minnesota's D just started pummelling Rodgers near the end, and they still didn't get beat badly.
