I'm treating this one like TF2. Not paying money to see it. That's what Netflix is for.

Dudes, with the way this movie ends, the sequel will be nothing short of pure, concentrated awesome.

But really, I think we all knew this was going to happen. Mummy 3 was absolute crap and it got a $40M opening weekend. Being better than Mummy 3 doesn't take a whole lot of effort.

They were trying to establish a franchise beyond the flicks.
I liked the third movie, even though it had nothing to do with the others.

Even if you could stomach the rest of the movie, the yetis playing football went too far.

I didn't expect Indianna Jones, so I was not disapointed.
The Yetis did ruin things, as did the son being magically 20 while his parents were clearly still in their 30s.

Also, Maria Bello sucking ass. They should've just written her out of the story, especially since the focus of the whole thing turned out to be about their horn-dog son trying to get his mack on.
Yet I thought it was slightly better then Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
What, better than the Mummy 3? Shit, that's a tough call. I was tortured by both but... jeez, I guess I'd have to give this one to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull instead actually. There's no way in hell I want to see that Mummy 3 crap again.

Shia Lebouf tips the scales for me...anything with him it instantly becomes worse. Yes, even Holes.

 I never saw Holes. I hate Shia Lebeof. The only thing he was remotely tolerable in was the Nausicaa dub and even there his acting was kinda wooden, dare I say even Keanu Reevish, at times.
Maria Bello was just an ass-awful Evie. And that kid that played the son was a pain in the ass, too. It probably also hurts more that Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Russell Wong, and Jessey Meng--all Asian actors that I love--are in this steaming pile. I care about the Crystal Skull cast significantly less, so that probably helps make it less awful for me.

Well my total dischantment might be factoring in too. Just to contrast the two I went to the midnight showing of Indy 4, where as I rented Mummy 3 from a red box. I was expecting more from Indy and Not a lot for Mummy 3. I got not a lot form Mummy 3, so I got what I expected. Indy 4 fell short...and fell way short of what I had wanted to see. So that's proably a factor. I never saw the Mummy movies as very good in the first place, where as Raiders of the Lost Ark is my fav. movie of all time.

I agree with you on the disenchantment thing. I never had any attachment to Indy and I actually liked the first two Mummy flicks. I went to the theater to see 3 and saw Indy for free at home. Not that I expected a lot from the Mummy. I didn't like Journey to the Center of the Earth either but I never got the squeamish need to leave like I did with Mummy 3.

I've never had much of a problem with Shia. He was always funny on Even Stevens.
But then I saw him on Conan promoting TF2. Everything was outrageous. "It's outrageous, Conan. Outrageous. This week has just been outrageous. The fans are outrageous. Outrageous. Outrageous. Outrageous."
It was like he had just done a jumbo line of coke backstage.

Don't tell me that word has made a comeback. ::) Oingo Boingo had a song titled "Outrageous" in 1987. It was THE hacky sack BGM here.

Apparently it's also Aquaman's catchphrase in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
But don't hold it against him, he's the first and only cool incarnation of the character.

We need to come up with a list of expressions we're sick of, current and historical. For instance, I was really, really tired of hearing "gag me with a spoon" back in the day.

Natural moviegoers?
Is that slang for horny tweens and the middle-aged deviants who pursue them?
I don't follow Twilight at all, so the other day I was surprised to read that the author is Mormon. I wonder if she and Orson Scott Card get together and discuss their shared hate of gays.

If Tom meant "normal" movie goers, well, yeah, I can't say that's another reason to hate them. I mean, these are some of the same chicks who saw Titantic 14 times. I already hated them for that.

G.I. Joe got another $10 courtesy of moi today. Still awesome!
As for that Scorsese/DiCaprio joint, I saw the trailer twice today and as result will never have to watch the actual film. I've pretty much got the gist of it now.

Shutter Island? I thought it looked awesome the first time. Now I'll wait for the budget theatre after the second time.

Here's what the trailer should be: Leonardo et al. walking around in their old-timey clothes, shouting their old-timey slogans with a subtle undertone of spookiness.
What it actually is: L@@K!
