Merla and I tried showing them to my dad and I think he would actually go brain dead during parts of it. I wanted to see his reaction for Goblet of Fire but I was so sleepy I literally fell asleep at the beginning and woke up to see the other two schools leaving Hogwarts. But at least it was in time to counter Hermione's "every's going to be different now" line mathingy with "There'll be hair where there was no hair before."
I wish Snape looked more like Hans Gruber. Not younger, I mean facial hair wise.

Merla and I went to see Half-Blood Prince this morning. Needless stuff seemed to be added in and good stuff taken out. It could've been worse. Either this one or Order is my least favorite Harry Potter movie.

Oh yeah, and a couple of things I didn't mention:
The sound dropped out twice, which was annoying but certainly not worthy of causing a stink to get any free movie tickets or anything. What's more, Merla had bought the tickets off of Fandango but we were unable to redeem them from the dumb machine and had to actually get in line, which negated the purpose of buying them ahead of time so we could bypass the line. Does anyone else use Fandango? When you redeem the tickets, do you have to enter that whole code number by number or do you actually get to scan the barcode?
Also, there was this super annoying commercial shown sometime ahead of the movie about Cartoon Network being "more than just cartoons" which really pissed me the fuck off. I already know CN's been showing live action, but the commercial being loud and irritating just added to the fact that live action has no place on CN. I guess they want to be "more than just cartoons" like MTV is more than just music videos.

I could also stab my own eyes out with a dull knife too. In order for me to chell out the cash they are demanding for movie tickets these days the movie has to at least be passable good. G.I. Joe and Transformers 2 don't look to be even passable shitty. I have hopes given the past movies that I've actually liked that Harry Potter will at least be good, maybe not great, but it won't make me want to sneak into The Proposal.

I went to see HBP at a drive-in theater in a nearby town. The drive-in uses the parking lot of a sports complex and has three screens. The sound is broadcast on FM so you just tune your radio in to get crystal clear sound. Most of the people there were in giant SUVs with the tailgates pointing towards the screen so people could sit on lawn chairs with the tailgate up.
I am very happy to see that at least someone is continuing the tradition of drive-in movies.
As for the movie itself, it amazes me that it could be nearly 2-1/2 hours long, start to bore me halfway though, and yet fail to include so much from the books. You have to be a shitty director on the level of Boll or Bay to do that. Who do they have making this since Goblet and Azkaban that is screwing these up, and how do I destroy them?
First off, there's no real sense of terror and fear going on in this thing. In the book death eaters are out in the open slowly destroying the government and people are scared shitless, and in the movie it's like "Everything's normal!" The beginning shows the bridge collapse with no real reason, in the book it's only mentioned. Olvanders gets destroyed for no real explained reason as well.
Many of the times that Harry and Dumbledore went into the past were cut out... I know this was due to time constraints, but it really did help to explain WHY Riddle became so evil in the first place. They really could have cut out all the extra shit they added that wasn't in the books.
They never explained WHY Snape was the Half-Blood prince, he's just like "Yes, I AM the Half-blood prince!".
Dumbledore's funeral wasn't shown, hopefully to be shown in the next movie.
I had completely forgotten that Harry used the spell he found in the book against Draco, or again against Snape... I was trying to figure out why Draco was lying there bleeding. I think this is more because people in these movies don't tend to yell out their spells clearly enough.. the actors tend to muddle them half the time. "Klaatu... Verada... nikbfsd"
The "attack" on Hogwarts by the death eaters sucked ass. I think in the book it was a legitmate attack, with spells flying all over the place and statues coming to life and shit (although I could be thinking of the very last battle in the last book). Once again any sense of the death eaters causing the end of the world was totally destroyed by this movie.
Did they pronounce Horocrux right? With the x pronounced? Because I could have sworn the x was supposed to be silent.
What was up with the Weasley's house being attacked and blown up halfway through the movie? Not even a spoiler as they show it in the damn trailer. Was that even in the books? What the hell was the purpose of that? To instill that sense of fear in the death eaters that is lacking in the rest of the movie?
Speaking of not fearing the death eaters, how can I fear them when they fly about in black clouds? Seriously, what the fuck is up with that? My friend suggested it may be what an apparation looks like, but apparations are instantaneous, and this looks like a form of flying without brooms. Plus, while they're black clouds, they destroy shit (the wand shop, the weasley house), which you can't do while apparating.

Just saw this tonight with my virgin. I liked it, but I'm very easy to please when it comes to Harry Potter. Was it an excellent movie? No, but I saw it for free.
How? Because as I walked up to the box office someone who worked there recognized me from a beer pong party and comped me free tickets. This made me look awesome in front of virgin and provides further evidence that I am the patron saint of college partying and lost kittens.

Just watched it, seemed all right to me. It's been so long since I read the book I wouldn't even know what was changed, added, or omitted.
Don't know where I'd place it in the lineup, though it's definitely better than Chamber of Secrets, that steaming pile.

And I actually like Chamber. I think I like 1, 2, 4, 3, then 5 and 6. Maybe 6 might surpass 5 since the first half of 6 is probably better than either half of 5.
I did remember there was more exposition about Snape and Voldemort's pasts. And I also remembered there was suppose to be more of a fight at the end. Merla's been re-reading the books, so I just used her as a reference for everything else.

They could've cut out most of the beginning of the movie and easily made room for Snape's flashback at least. I can imagine a lot of people sitting through this movie going "So he was the HBP, who the fuck cares?" I wonder how many of them even know what that means. I was telling Merla that since that transporting cabinet didn't amount to jack-shit in the movie, they should've just cut it out. (Or perhaps merely regulated it to a background prop.) By cutting out that fight at the end, Snape just as easily could've killed off Dumbledore and set fire to Hagrid's hut himself w/o any of the other Death Eaters ever appearing. HBC makes an excellent Bellatrix, but she didn't need as many scenes as she got. She got more attention in this movie than Snape did. Snape's the freakin' HPB. This should've been Snape's movie and it got taken away from him.

The one near where I live is a Brown Trash experience. Merla and I went to another one close to where we used to live and it's so nice and spacious. Sucks ass that the bigger Walmart is where no one needs it. They have two other great places to buy groceries over there. They don't need the big one, WE needed the big one. (And then the boneheads who added the stupid Target nearby didn't even make it a Super Target. Poo.)

Yeah our Wal-Mart sucks, but the one in the next town over is amazing and they don't need it really. And I'm just happy to have a Target period since we just got out first one like 2-3 years ago.

Ha, ha. Merla and I went to Walmart today and behind us in line is literally the unfortunate Latino stereotype of the huge brown trash family with a dozen noisy, grabby monkeys fluttering, crawling about, and otherwise severly invading our personal space. One mom's preggers and the other mom is literally standing there chewing on her own fucking hand, standing there looking stupid and do NOTHING to police their brats. Poor Merla almost lost it.

Yeah I know that situation. Only replace it with a woman that tips the scales at 350 lbs and her boyfriend (which we never marry) comes in a wopping 110 lbs. She is usually more concerned with getting getting her smokes while the guy goes back for yet another case of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The kids are also not policed, but when one asks if he can a 50 cent pack of gum the mom tells him they can't afford it, then promptly tells her man that they need to stop at the gas station and get those Lotto tickets.
My contempt for my fellow Humans is measureable at this point.

I cannot stand to have other people near me let alone touch me. I told those brats not to touch me, that they didn't know me and to get away from me. I don't think they even understood me. This is America, speak and understand English!!! I didn't say anything to the mother because she appeared to be special needs but I think she was just an idiot. I was glad I didn't have my coach bag with me because I would have freaked out if they had touched it their dirty hands.
Back to HP6 one of my co-workers when last night and today asked me "Why was he (Snape) the half-blood Prince?" You would of thought something as important as that would have been explained.

I've always made the arguement that I wouldn't move to France and then not at least make an attempt to learn French. At worst I'd have a French to English with me. One thing I wouldn't do is get pissy with French people that clearly don't know English when they don't understand me or speak it to me. But that seems like that's ok if you're from Mexico and speaking Spanish.
