...but no Internet connection. :nono: What a pain in the ass.
I didn't really want to go with them because I don't like Time Warner. They must've known I was pro-coyote because all they've done is jerk me around. I regret that I wasn't happy enough with dial-up because this has been nothing but stress. If I had it to do over again, I never would've done it. I'd rather have gone to the library once a month and dealt with the junkies. Here's the gist:
- Ordered online.
- Later found out that my order hadn't cleared despite getting a page that said my order had been processed.
- Had to re-order.
- Was told my install date would be pushed back even further.
- Complained to supervisor and had to walk through how I ordered it online because Time Warner "has many pages". What, that you can order from? Why don't they do themselves a fucking favor and stick with one? Unless she was talking about a different city's TW page which just makes her retarded. How the fuck should I be able to order cable internet in Atlanta or something with my SA address?
- Then said just because the page said my order was processed, doesn't mean it was processed. FTW. She said because TW wants to make sure the customer has time to "back out". This basically infers, judging by the steps in their website and what she said in conversation, that TW gives you four times to back out. That doesn't count when "tech" calls to confirm whether or not he should come to install, which imo would also give the customer the opportunity to cancel their order before being billed.
- Waited all day Monday with almost no sleep for installation dude who never fucking came. He called around 7:30 promising to keep me "posted" then called at 9:10 with an unapologetic "I have no one". Monkey-fucker, why couldn't he have just said he couldn't fucking do it instead of wasting more of my time?
- Installation guy came today and took over an hour to get here. (It takes a little to over an hour to get to my dad's and he lives out of town. It should not have taken some 70 minutes plus in non-peak traffic to get to where I live when I'm only thirty minutes at most away from anything here that matters.)
- He then made a hole in my wall where I did not want it. Thanks for asking, fucker. Now I have a hole to repair.
- Informed me installation would be $40 bucks when it clearly said installation was free on the online order form AND when I told the chick taking my order the second time--when she asked if where I ordered had an installation cost--NO, installation is free. $0.00 != $39.99.
- Installation guy also said I'd have to pay $25 upfront. Not really complaining about this but it would have been nice to have been TOLD.
- I wanted to test it before he left and he's all "No, it should be ready to go." The only reason I let him escape is because I could tell that if I had problems, he'd have no fucking idea how to help me. I could tell from the eyes. All he probably does is drill holes and screw cables.
I was told it was just going to work. I didn't actually believe that, but I didn't think I wouldn't be able to figure it out. Been trying to fix this shit all day while falling in and out of sleepyness. At one point, TW's cheap ass cable got stuck in my laptop and I thought it was gonna fucking break. On my laptop, it prompts for a name and password and I never got those things. I never got a welcome mail or any documentation other than the install bill receipt. For that matter, I never even anything to help me get started. I've never had this sort of connection before, what about a manual or something, fuckers? What sense does it make to have everything online (and none of it's useful) if you can't get online? (I still have MSN Dial-Up, otherwise I'd be boned.)
Called supervisor lady to fix bill because if I knew I'd be paying $60 bucks up front, I *never* would have bothered with it. She hasn't called me back yet.
Meanwhile, I got a call about not one but two possible jobs, including a job interview that I hadn't expected to actually get an interview for. So now I'm panicking because I'm not prepared. I wasn't even gonna start seriously looking into jobs until mid-July.
In the early afternoon I was feeling real down so went to pet my cat to feel better and saw a fucking tapeworm wiggling in her fur near her butt. The image is burned into my brain forever. So now here comes another vet bill. I couldn't eat all day because all I kept seeing was that worm, shaking his groove thang like a salt shaker. I started cleaning like nuts, too. My poor Toki is giving me this sad face but all I can picture it the worm at her ass so I don't want her near me.
I haven't wanted to curl up into a ball and die this much in a while. :poo:
I want my daddy. :(
-
Well.....I could fix the whole in your wall, but it's kinda long drive. But that's about all the help I can offer.
-
That's okay. I've already started Phase 1 of my "Just Fix It With Spackle" process.
-
And after I got through the whole "fixing your hole" without making a joke.
Ah well I didn't want tap and sand anyway...I hate taping and sanding. I now know why they invented wood paneling. (even though I hate it.)
-
Wood paneling is gross.
-
I know...I know...I'm surronded by it. It's depressing. And when you team it up with poop brown left over 70s shag...*Shudder*
-
...I'd have to throw away the cat.
-
Prior owners converted our attached garage to living space and put up paneling and a burnt orange vinyl floor. Made me feel like a piece of toast about to pop up. We painted the nasty paneling Wedgewood blue with white trim and divided the room into a computer room and breakfast room by hanging bifold doors suspended from a 4" X 8". Prime it up good and paint that shit - it works.
I had my outs with Time-Warner as well, but nothing, NOTHING like the unmitigated hell of Comcast. Getting anyone resembling a supervisor on the phone just did not happen with Comcast.
-
I've had a good experience with Cox.
:tomduo:
Seriously, much better service than shitty comcast in FL
-
Cox used to own a radio station here for which my cousin's venue hosted a party and working with them was hell. The events manager actually said that Cox left a bad taste in his mouth in total innocence, and I will remind him of that utterance until the day I die. >:D
-
I love when they say "Did you enjoy your Cox communications customer service?"
To which I reply; "I LOVE COX!"

Some updates:
Roadrunner: Running, but I need to set up a wireless network. (So I'm on dial-up right now because I don't want to be in my room at the moment.)
Installation charge: I have to chell with TW next week. Apparently, my account is too new.
Cats: Took them in, got medicine. The female vet and female vet tech were almost easily able to handle Tokio, which a lot of grown men couldn't even manage. So I was impressed.
Job interview: I was nervous that I hadn't prepared any references, but I manage to reconnect with some people and get some.
Hole in my wall: Spackle appears to be okay. A little weak since it's just pure spackle and I didn't stick a small piece of wood or drywall there, but it's not as if it needs to be strong.
-
Awesome, it appears my wireless network is set up. I'm on the Internet on both my desktop and my laptop. I feel as though I've entered the future. Next week: Drive a flying car.
-
*le sigh*
-
Heh, you're were I was a month and a half ago...except with more in the way of the high speed.
-
One tiny snag: Merla's laptop is having issues connecting to the network. All things in due time.
Also, for being the slowest Road Runner plan, I have more speed than I thought I would.
*le sigh*
There, there. I'm sure you'll catch up sometime after the second Obama administration.
-
Don't even fucking joke about that.
-

Promises, Promises.
-
Don't even fucking joke about that.
;D
-
Psht, ğe place you applied wiş sucks. You should have sent Baird your resume.
-
I am actually a little curious what postion you are applying for when you send in your application. I have a vague overall idea of what you were going to school for, but what kind of job are you trying to get?
-
Something that pays me a tidy wage and isn't a pain in the ass.
And I'm being serious when I say that.
Sam is in love with bread.
-
Well what postion I mean.
-
Missionary?
-
Ah...should have known that was coming.
And I for one will disappointed if the answer isn't Doggy.
-
Reverse cowgirl in front of a mirror is my personal favorite.
-
I figured missionary would be easier on ğe ass, since it was listed as a prerequisite.
-
Straight missionary works wonders for anal sex. Doggy Style, the girl tenses up too much.
-
Large pillows under the hips, head resting on arms helps....or so I'm told. :)
-
I'm starting to get the feeling I'm not going to find out what kind of job she was applying for after all this.
-
Considering it's now Thurs and they haven't called, it's safe to say I probably didn't get it anyway.
-
Poop in the building's bathroom sink, so they know not to ever fuck with you again.
-
Or get one of those nasty vending machine brownies, peel off the icing and roll the rest into poo logs. Somebody caused a major panic at a nameless and gullible insurance agency once by making them think street bums were shitting on the ladies' room floor.
-
:lmao:
-
The real stuff provides the smell that guarentees authenticity.
-
Ooh, you haven't unwrapped one of those brownies....
-
Why would I? I only drink farm fresh milk and eat freshly baked breads and pastries. That stuff in the machines should be classified as a biohazard.
-
That's right! Fresh milk, straight from the cow's tit, and fresh bread, straight from the cow's tit's oven!
-
Like I got it to eat. Farm fresh stuff is useless for prank purposes.
-
Maybe I should throw tomatoes at their windows. And then they'll be all "Who did this?" and then I'll pop out and go "Fresh from the Farmer's Market, motherfuckers!" and they'll be "NOOOOoooooOOOoo!"
-
I'm starting to get the feeling I'm not going to find out what kind of job she was applying for after all this.
Well you have only yourself to blame.
And Tom.
Mostly Tom.
-
Entirely Tom.
No, not really. More like 90% Tom.
-
I got DSL in my place now so no more coffee shop internet.
Well maybe some, just because I have this fantasy about a girl walking in and talking to me while I'm raiding. Then I let her sit in my lap and talk on vent before taking her home.
-
I'm starting to get the feeling I'm not going to find out what kind of job she was applying for after all this.
Well you have only yourself to blame.
And Tom.
Mostly Tom.
Weren't you the one that said Missionary? No sir...I blame YOU!
I was just curious when you are going through the want ads what Jobs are jumping out as ones you'd send your resume in.
-

Mostly Tom.
Well it's a good thing I haven't gone by Tom for years. I mean, literally, years.
Though my showing up in a thong and dancing for the HR director after eating rest area sushi on behalf of you didn't help. They said that suit would never be clean again.
-
Well, it's a good thing I haven't gone by Tom for years. I mean, literally, years.
A bunch of us call you "Tom". It doesn't matter if you don't actually refer to yourself that way. The same as how most people still use "Nuri".
I got the rejection letter for the job on Friday. Boo hoo. Got my Time Warner bill, charging me $40 for installation when it was supposed to be free. Boo hiss. Where's the coyote when you need him?
-
I like to think of you as Rebe.
-
Fucking awesome.
Back to Road Runner... I don't want this to end up to be a post of Dougish proportions so I'll make it short. I have just finished drafting a 12 page letter I'm certain no one at Time Warner will ever read, but it did make me feel better. Here are the highlights:
- Apparently, on June 30th, I did not own any computers. That thing sitting on my floor that I've had there since 2005 that I've been using to talk to you all since 2002? Yeah, Time Warner says it doesn't exist. Shyamalan says it's been dead this entire time.
- I am illiterate and somehow misread "Installation $0.00". Apparently, that was Esperanto for "$40.00".
- I managed to call Time Warner on Saturday without picking up a fucking phone and actually speaking with somebody. Never mind that Merla and I spent nearly the whole day with my dad near Stockdale, I just had to speak to Time Warner telepathically.
- Because I dispute all of the above, I am a liar trying to scam Time Warner. I'm fairly certain I'm an asshole, too.
- It is a practice of Time Warner's that when they don't like what you have to say on phone, they just get vewy, vewy qwiet and hope you go away.
- I love my new connection but I fucking hate Time Warner
In conclusion, >:( :goddammit: :nono:  :moon: :nurinono:  :streamoftears: :whack2: :vampire: :tantrum:
Time Warner, you have made a dangerous foe today. :samurai:
-
Glad I went with ATT.
-
Good old Netzero...the service is shitty, but at least it's slow.
-
I got Cox.
They're huge.
-
/sigh
That's what she said.
-
Just because something is easy, doesn't mean you should do it.
-
Just think, if you had Comcast, you'd have to deal with asshole tech support over the phone, people who don't even know what the fuck they're doing, and you still wouldn't have anything accomplished.
Frighteningly enough, AOL is starting to look better and better everyday... D:
-
They suck! I'd go all Curcio on them if I could. :rawr:
