Title: Looking for a movie.
Post by: B E C K on Jun 01, 2009, 11:39:11 PM
I think I might've mentioned this before, but now I'm actively looking for this movie.  Merla and I were watching it on TV and then the powet went out with less than five minutes left in the damn thing.

I think it might've been made/released anywhere in the neighborhood of the mid/late eighties to early nineties.

There's an alien criminal and another alien, a good alien, is chasing him.  They crash on Earth and the bad alien takes over somebody.  I don't really remember but it is possible the people had to be dying to be possessed.  It is possible that the bad alien just took over whoever he wanted.  The good alien also takes over someone, possibly a detective that died, and continues chasing the bad alien.  We think they were worm things or something.  The bad alien kept hopping bodies.  Near the end, I think the bad alien's all skittering about a screaming crowd and someone (possibly the good alien in his human body) is shooting at it.  I didn't see as much of the movie as Merla did, but I thought it took place in a city-type environment like New York or L.A.

Oh man...Late 80s Early 90s Sci-Fi it could be hundreds of movies.

Don't guess you know any names in it. I mean just checking but I'm sure you'd have looked it up on IMDB if you had and found it by now, but never hurts to ask. Would also help if we could get Merla's input as well since she saw more of it.

If it's really bad I might end up owning it. I have a pile of about 60 Bad movies I havn't even watched yet and If I can find a title I can see if I do. If I do I could just burn a copy and send it to you.

Anyway, I'll start working with this and see what I can come up with.

Wow...I think I found it already.

The Hidden (1987)

Seems to have all your ear marks. Sadly I don't own this one, so you'll have to find it on your own if this is it.

Hmm, sounds promising.  I'll have to look it up some more later and see.  Thanks for the lead.

Just let me know if it's it so I know I can stop looking. Although that is still the one closest to what you described that I have come on.

I described it to Merla (from the Wiki entry) and it seemed to jive.  We'll have to Netflix it to know for sure.

Well I'll stop looking till then.

It arrived today.  After so many years of waiting, we just jumped to the end to see if it looked familiar.  Merla seemed certain it's the right movie, but I remembered it with more action that what actually occurs.

Apparently, the powet went out the second before the bad alien is zapped to oblivion.  Then the good alien visits a human in the hospital who is dying--I guess maybe a cop or something that was helping him track the bad alien.  The human dies and the alien get this "Oh garsh, the guy has a wife and kid. What should I do?" look on his face and the next thing you know, the guy's alive and the alien's human body is dead on the floor.  I assume the alien is using that body as his new host or something so his Earthling friend's family won't suffer.  I don't think he actually brought the guy back to life.  (But I'll have to actually sit down and see the whole movie to know for sure.)  So anyway, the point is that the human body the alien was using is dead on the floor and nobody bothers taking the little kid out of the room.  There's this "touching" family scene and the whole time a body is lying dead on the floor.  The 80's were hilarious.  I miss them.

Thank you.

Ain't no thing. If you ever need help IDing another movie just ask.

And I miss the 80s too. The phrase "If I have a time machine..." often is said when I start to think of the 80s.

I'm looking for a movie too.  It's called Get Carter and I left at this chick's place and she won't return my calls.

We had already slept together and that was great according to her friend, but then she decided to "get to know me" and now wants nothing to do with me apparently.

I just sent a facebook message to the friend about possibly recovering the dvd (that isn't even mine).

This is what I get for not letting my penis do all the talking.

Isn't it kinda sad that after she "got to know you" she then didn't want to have anything to do with you?

I'm never lending IDE any DVDs.

Finally saw the movie in its entirety.  It's decent as long as you like slightly cheesy 80's action films, down to the unintended lol moments.  The bad alien killed the wife and daughter of the good alien, so it seems the good alien ending up with the wife and daughter of his killed human cop-friend was fitting.  The human daughter could also tell the alien was an alien in some sixth sense sort of way.  It was a nice touch.

Yeah it would be more dramatic if that's all there was too it.  I'd definitely write it that way.

But I found out the truth.  After our date she thought that I just wanted to bang her and her friend said she's looking for a boyfriend.   But more interesting to me, she thought it was weird that I held her hand when we were walking to the bar.

I was knockin on your cervix the other night, but OMG I HELD YOUR HAND?!  That was the deal breaker.  I understand that some people (not me) think it's weird to hold hands on the first date, but if my balls have been in your mouth I think we can dispense with the normal hand holding time table.

Anyways her roomate gave my friend the dvd so all is well and this whole hand holding bullshit further instills me with the belief that all the womanizing I've done was done rightly so.

Holding his balls should be the next step.  A lady always takes things at a dignified pace.

Okay, I'm with Rama and Bernie here but if she's gonna give it up that quickly, then she needs to fold the time table up and stick to using it as a beer coaster.

Well, if she was looking for a bf, you'd think she'd of liked the hand-thing.  Was she expecting you to be "instant boyfriend" (just add water) because I don't get it.

Instant boyfriend? Sounds like freeze-dried sperm.

Mmmm.
Title: Re: Looking for a movie.
Post by: B E C K on Jun 27, 2009, 08:39:55 AM
Well, it certainly looks that way before you add the water.

Back to the important issue, why the hell does brother hate popcorn?  Does he hate the way pieces of kernel gets stuck in between your teeth?  The over-salty, obviously artificial butter taste?  The overwhelming odor that fills the house when you microwave it?  The irritating hot bag that threatens to steam off your face?  The post-foodcoital greasy hands?  Orville Reddenbacker in all of his dead, old smugness?  Eat Chex.  Do you like Chex?

Most of those problems could be solved by not making Microwave popcorn. Myself, I can't eat the stuff anymore. I've spent years trying to get mine to taste as close to movie theater as possible and I just can't go back after coming so far. I mean I buy speical popcorn, special oil, special seasoning (luckly I found a pack where all three come together so that made that easier) and even use a Speical Popper so it holds some of the taste when it pops.

I may have a problem, but I don't care. It's awesome.

Right?!

When we were by the car she said "I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow" (as in so I could stay over and pierce her heavens with my drill).  But then apparently she made her will save and decided never to talk to me again.

But seriously who raises charisma unless you're a sorcerer or paladin?

So what, on the stove in one of those foily things.  Do you think it would taste closer to theater if you had the big rectangular machine?

Why can't you have popcorn, IDE?

I do have a big rectangular machine.

Well ok it's actually a small rectrangular machine, that looks like the baby brother of the one you see in the theater, but it's still the same concept. Put it in the pan at the top, it pops out and falls into the warming area below. Kinda a self Christmas/Birthday/Tax return present.

Oh...you meant the Machine.

I wanted one of those, but I didn't have an extra 450-800 bucks laying around. I had to cash in all my Wal-Mart gift cards that people who don't know me well enough to get me an actual gift to get the one I have.

I use that butter powder and it's pretty good. I find it sticks to the popcorn real well if you use that butter flavored oil on it first. But I doubt that keeps the calories down.

No he just looked at me for a moment, my face turned up in a seemingly perpetual scowl.  Then he looked away with a gleam of sadness in his eyes, as if he knew the pain I was feeling.  Then I had an epiphany and it seemed like I could see a large statue of Buddha with the sun rising behind it.
