I think Nuri complained that she missed last year's Talk Like a Pirate Day, so heads up, it's in a few days, the 19th of September as usual. Arrg!
I only remembered it because the Michigan Renaissance festival is having a "Pirate" day that day.
Speaking of the Michigan Renn Faire, this may be yet another year where I'm too broke to dress up... again. All I need is a shirt too. I have a cloak (http://www.pendragoncostumes.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pendragon&Product_Code=cloak&Category_Code=cloak), pants, (cheap ass) boots.... maybe I could go SHIRTLESS! O_O
The only other person on this board I would think would dress up for a Renn Faire would be Bernie, but she's probably too busy bailing out water right now. Once she gets back, if she has some pictures of her dressed up she should post them!!!!!!
-
I would dress up for a renn fair. All I need is a loin cloth, some boots, and and one of those leather head bands.
-
I went to one. I had to wear a codpiece. I will never attend one again.
-
There is no GGG at the end of ARRRR
-
Yeah.....ARRRRGGG is what Charile Brown says when Lucy pulls the Football away.
-
Ha! That's what I was thinking when I read this post!! Besides, that day's completely useless now that I don't work at a seafood place.
-
Arrr! *passes ou' Captain Morgan*
Damn ye landlubbers, ruinin' all me fun! I shall keelhaul all o' ye!
Time t' crank up some swashbuckler music!
Rising the flag on the masthead
The sails and the ropes' holding tight
The gunners are eager to fire
Well prepared for the fight
Fight, flee or surrender
Defeat you can't deny
Better give up in the first place
Or drown in the blink of an eye
Gold, jewels and diamonds
The price we'll have to claim
Noble rogues are standing
We'll never quit in the game
We gonna ride the sea, we pray to the wind and the glory
That's why we are raging wild and free, whooaa!
Come sing along with the pirate song
Hail to the wind, hooray to the glory
We're gonna fight 'til the battle's won
On the raging sea
No way to move your deadlocked
Nailed down by feu-eclair
Lead is carrying fire
Victory's noble and fair
Rising the flag on the masthead
The sails and the ropes' holding tight
The gunners are eager to fire
Well prepared for the fight
We gonna ride the sea, we pray to the wind and the glory
That's why we are raging wild and free, whooaa!
I'll sing along with the pirate song
Hail to the wind, hooray to the glory
We're gonna fight 'til the battle's won
On the raging sea

I don't even know Anonymous' obsession with that show. The show's a typically excessively cheerful children's show. Stephanie isn't even cute, and her voice is too high pitched and painful to listen to. The actress who plays her was about 14-15 when the show was filmed (ha ha.... late bloomer), and now she's 17, so she's not even jailbait anymore. The premise of the show is even worse... a TV show to encourage kids to go out and exercise.... you know, after they're done sitting on their asses and watching the show.
I'm all late, but LOLcat is relevant everyday.

This thread was originally supposed to be about Renaissance Festivals as well as pirates, since they often go together (The local fair has a Buccaneer weekend Labor Day weekend, and a Pirate day this year on the 19th). Also Nuri didn't want me making too many threads.
At our own Michigan Renaissance Festival they're filming a movie starring Christina Ricci, Cedric the Bore, and Mathew Lillard this weekend. Some Renfair-based romance comedy about people falling in love at a Ren Fair called "All's Faire in Love".
I'm pissed because I had a pirate shirt shipped to me on Monday, and UPS says it's stuck in New Delhi, IN. I hope that's Indiana and not India, because if I don't get the shirt by Saturday my costume for the Fair on Sunday will not be complete! How can I be a possible extra in the film if I'm not dressed up? IDE could come up here and be an extra too, though he'd probably spend all his time trying to shag Ricci.
Michigan has massive tax incentives for Hollywood to film up here so a whole lot of movies are coming up here to film. Clint Eastwood is filming his latest movie in a Detroit Suburb, and that abomination of a movie Jumper with "Anakin" Christian Haydenson and it's sequels are filmed around here. IDE is in the wrong state. :P
-
Yeah they cut the tax incentive in FL. It's fucking bullshit. But I should be LA bound soon anyway so it doesn't matter.
-
I have a reason to go ARRRGGG!!! now.
I called up UPS and found out that the item is being shipped from India, not anywhere in the USA. It got stuck up in customs in India for 3 days or so. The company's website (http://tobeapirate.com/) has no indication of where the company is located, but considering they have NO mailing address on the website at all, NO phone number, and the website is hosted on an Indian web server, it's very suspect. Their Amazon store listings do not say anything about them being shipped from outside of the USA.
To add insult to injury, UPS told me the package was guaranteed to reach the destination (my house) by Friday, or my shipping is free. But the shipper has to invoke the guarantee and I have to negotiate with them to get my money back.
If I would have known the shirt was being shipped from that cow worshiping shithole I would have never bought it. The site itself said "Shipping takes 3-5 days", and it's been 6 days. If I would have bought from an All American company, I would have had my shirt now. Now If I could have my way I'd want my money back but the package just landed in Delaware and they'll probably say "No returns".
Fuck you India, I shall never forget this.
-
What made you think you could trust someone called "Cap'n Patrick Buttscrape"?
-
Yea, I noticed that. :P
The package should arrive today or tomorrow. Let's hope it's not a box full of shit.
I found out that the Renaissance Festival has been extended for yet another week, and ends next week. I also have coupons that will virtually make my ticket free, but only if other people go with me, so I'm trying hard to find others to come with me.
When I went yesterday I was wearing my Killer Rabbit Monty Python t-shirt which got a lot of good comments. I saw no cameras but they were in the middle of building a set for the movie. Maybe they'll film next week.

They are filming a lot of movies in Philly too. A couple of months ago was one with owen Wilson, another one with that fugly Diaz girl and now it's transformers 2. Oh and there's another one that was being filmed a block away from my work but I never asked for the name.

Gross-ass Cameron Diaz?

Not to mention the best comedy on TV right now, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

that reminds me.. Matthew mcconaughey doesn't wear deodorant cause he said his mom always told him that his "man odor" was sexy. So I'm wondering if he really stinks or if his sweat axilary glands smell like roses now
-
He's rich, what woman would complain?
-
His mom told him that? That's gross and creepy.
-
They smell like man roses.
-

Me! I hate BO
-

Yuck! Remember Howard Marshall, Anna Nicole's ancient husband? She could hardly stand to be in the same room with him, and he was a billionaire. Pre-Eddie, I dated a guy who moonlighted doing the door for the River Oaks Country Club and used to have to help old Howie out of his limo - he said that car smelled worse than dirty cat boxes. :puke:

Which is a nice smell.

What he used to pee himself?
-
Pretty damn constantly. He was 89 in 1994 when I was dating that guy.
-
I went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday wearing that shirt.
I also wore a thick velvet cloak that catches the wind just right and adds +10 sex appeal (which helps not since I have negative sex appeal), pants, a wood staff carved by some remote great uncle when I was 9, and cheap Holloween costume shop boots with leather soles thick enough to make a thick thud when you walk on wood... the kind that say "I'll shove this boot so far up your ass you'll shit bricks" and mean it.
The shirt's still too big, and unless I figure out a way to shrink it in the wash, I'd have to send it back. The Indian company expects me to ship it back to them in India. Apparently these people are too fucking ignorant to figure out that the price of shipping the shirt internationally will be more than the shirt itself.
Ghandi gave them their freedom, he should have tried giving them brains as well.
-
When he does, ask for some.
-
And get me some salt while you are at it.
-
SALLLLLLLTT!!?? :joe:
-
Yeah you'll love it....Here try some.
*Sprinkle* *Sprinkle* *Sprinkle*
-
Did you hear about the roasted peanut who got attacked? He was assaulted....
-
...jesus christ.

:puke: ARRGGGHHHHH!!
