Title: No Harry Potter topic?
Post by: B E C K on Aug 18, 2008, 01:08:46 AM
About the next film being pushed back to July?  I'm sure all of you know about this by now, but I had to make a topic.  It sucks ass.  That was probably the only movie I was looking forward to the whole year.  That and the new Bond.  People are talking about that Twilight flick but it looked kinda crappy to me.  I wasn't even sure what the hell that was about until I saw a news piece on the author.

I didn't know they pushed it back. So new to me. Did they give a reason?

And yes Bond...only flick that could match my excitement for Dark Knight. If it's half as good as Casino Royale it'll be awesome. Course CR had the fact that it closely followed the book. QOS won't be doing that. I've read the short story and Bond is hardly in it.

And I'm surprised there is no topic about the dead Bigfoot those two red necks found.

Here's one article from CNNMoney.com:

Imax Still Plans "Harry Potter" Release Despite Date Change
August 14, 2008: 05:51 PM EST

TORONTO -(Dow Jones)- Imax Corp. (IMAX) still plans to release a giant-screen version of Warner Bros. Pictures' next "Harry Potter" film sequel, despite its surprise move to the summer of 2009.

Earlier Thursday, Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc. (TWX), said "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" would be released July 17, 2009 instead of November 21. The studio cited two reasons. First, it said the summer season is an "ideal window for a family tent pole release." Second, it said the repercussions of the writers' strike "impacted the readiness of scripts for other films."

Richard Gelfond, co-chief executive of Imax, said that even though the company just found out about the change Thursday, it's already initiated some conversations about a replacement film, and he's confident it will find a good project. While it was only planning a two-week release of the DreamWorks Animation SKG (DWA) film "Madagascar 2," opening November 7, it would like to have another film as well to play a little later in the holiday season.

Gelfond said that the "Harry Potter" change won't effect the Imax release of " Transformers 2," which opens June 26. "We'll play both films," he said.

On the bright side, he noted that when "Harry Potter" does open next summer, it will appear in close to 100 of its new digital theaters, as opposed to about 40 estimated to be in operation by November. "It's a better revenue opportunity for us at that point," he said.

IMAX still plans to release part of the "Harry Potter" film in 3-D.

Although some other article hilariously states the film was moved because Daniel Radcliffe gets naked in a play.

The Bigfoot thing... it's kinda hard to get excited since we're not sure exactly what it is they have yet.

I did not know about the Harry Potter thing.  I guess I should go see the latest movie and read the last two books one of these days.

Actually, now that I think about it, my sister may have made me read the second to last one, but I have no idea what happens in it.

It is?  That's hilarious! I think I might have to put in an appearance over there.  The thought that those tards are even discussing a boycott is ridiculous.  They'll be lined up on opening night and would probably eat a spoonful of dog shit to be the first ones in the theater.

It's not like we don't know what's going to happen.  As long as they finish all filming before some of the senior cast members shuffle off this mortal coil, I think I'll get over it.

And considering how bloody awful swarthy Helen McCrory looks as the almost-translucent opalescent Narcissa Malfoy, I think I can wait another six months. :puke: Maybe the delay is to photoshop-bleach the FUCKING TOP OF HER HAIR!!! :goddammit: Here we go again - spend a few million on special effects and can't spring for a motherfucking bottle of Clairol Summer Blonde.

Kinda sucks just for the fact that the film is done and they could release it, but arn't. I mean if they had to do reshoots or someone got hurt and or something it would be one thing, but this is just ehhhhh....

Course I'm sure WB wants a big movie for next year, as they already riding the TDK wave. Course having two huge movies didn't seem to effect Paramounts releases.

I know.  This time around it's more of a slapstick version.  Like I yell it and then everyone yells back "WE KNOW!" and then I look all dejected, lower my sign, and walk off with a quivering lip.

And yeah, what's with that Malfoy Mom's hair? Is that how her hair was described in the books?  With that brown and blonde?

From the book description, Narcissa Malfoy would make Emma Frost look like a sistah.  Think of Freyja; ice-blonde, aquamarine eyes and skin to rival the fjords in moonlight.   I don't think she has so much as brown eyelashes.

BTW, the Bigfoot was an ape suit in a freezer.  That was expected, but what wasn't was that the hunter who "found" it was a police officer who was on medical leave.  His boss said that due to his fraudulence, he was guilty of behavior unbecoming of a police officer, so he fired the guy.

It looked like a fraud from the pics, but I was going to wait for that DNA evidence, but the fact that they weren't turning the body over to science was very telling.

Escape from Griffindor.

I'd watch it if Snake plows Hermoine after shoving a baseball bat in Ron's ass.

According to Neville's imagination Snape, but I'm voting Ron - methinks he protested too much about those dress robes.

It's a babe with ears and a tail in a tight leotard with fishnets and stiletto-heeled pumps - probably the most uncomplicated avatar I've had in a while.   The approach of autumn makes me benevolent.  :)  Her being the host of a kid's show here in the 60's has nothing to do with a generation of Houston's sexual fantasies.  Really.

So did a lot of wives when hubby would take off from work to escort the kids to one of her live appearances.  :D Her name was Kitirik - sponsor station KTRK with "i's" - and she revealed MANY years later that men wrote letters to her confessing that they had paid hookers to dress up like her if they couldn't convince their wives/girlfriends to.

Warner Bros sues producer over Hari Puttar title

   August 25, 2008 15:14 IST

A Mumbai-based producer/distributor has been sued by Warner Bros for the title of its upcoming film Hari Puttar -- A Comedy of Terrors, which they believe is a tad too similar to their Harry Potter franchise.

The case would come up for hearing in the Bombay High Court, reports China Daily.

'Hari Puttar', a comedy that centres on a 10-year-old Indian boy whose family moves to England [Images], is slated for a September 12 release.

'We have recently commenced proceedings against parties involved in the production and distribution of a movie entitled Hari Puttar,' said London-based Warner Bros' spokeswoman Deborah Lincoln.

'Warner Bros values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy not to discuss publicly the details of any ongoing litigation,' Lincoln added.

Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii said that they couldn't comment on the issue now.

'Since the case is sub-judice, we can't comment as of now,' said Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii.

'However, we registered the Hari Puttar title in 2005, and it's unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film's release. In my opinion, I don't think our title has any similarity or links with 'Harry Potter,'' he added.

They forgot about another bit of late-breaking news: Apparently the world cares about piddly Indian films.  And I don't know what the fuck gives with that image.  Indian Snape and Hagrid?

Cut and loving it.  Low maintenance and always ready to rock.

Incidentally, I had to x-ray a six-month old the other day who'd just been circumsized, so we couldn't do our customary technique of throwing them in the piggostat because he couldn't sit on the itty-bitty bicycle seat in the thing.  I felt sorry for the kid, because even at that age you could see that he was all bow-legged from it.  Luckily, he was docile enough to sit in a chair with his daddy's help.
