I had heard rumors about this forever.  Cheating is one thing, but while your spouse is battling cancer?  Boo John Edwards, I always thought you were cooler than that.

Is it a gay sex scandal?  I know the Republicans love those.

That dude still says he's serious. Doesn't Obama look a lil too clean and muscular to be straight, especially at that age?

Plus, I'd never wanna stick my dick in Michelle Obama... or Cindy McCain for that matter.

If McCain picks Charlie Crist, then the elephants can't play the gay-card.

I don't think him cheating when knowing his wife has cancer is any worse than him cheating in general.

Kicking someone when they're down is worse than or equal to just kicking someone?

As the only real conservative on this board...really, who gives a damn at this point?  It's not like we didn't know Edwards was slime from his goofy lawyering days, and it's common knowledge that politicians are all scum-sucking bastards to some degree or another.  And the very fact that Bill Clinton, known cheater and rumored sexual assaulter is going to speak at the convention, and Ted Kennedy, a public drunk and literal lady-killer, is held up as the gold standard for leftist politics and not banned from the Senate for life, just why should Edwards leave politics?

But there is one thing we can all learn from this: DON'T FUCK WITH THE ENQUIRER!

The real thing you should be upset about is that this story's been making the rounds for nearly two weeks, yet this is the first time it's actually being reported by most major news outlets.

But anyway, the only one that comes to mind is Larry Craig...who else?

Oh, plenty. Some did it with men, some with women, but all cheaters:

Mark Foley (mmm, boys), Charlie Christ (mmm, men, but he's getting married again to secure a spot as VP), Gingrich (women, but still a cheater), Ed Schrock (mmm, 1-900- interactive-male), Mayor Jim West of Spokane (again, mmm boys!), Don Sherwood (well they were hot 20 year old women), LaTourette of Ohio (cheated and lobbied with the same girl), Mitch McConnell (remember him?), Bill Frist (an overall scumbag ditching his fiancee the night before they were to be married for a mistress), and Mark Rubio of Miami (men and women, allegedly still).

I am sure there are many more.

I wouldn't be so quick to count anyone from Miami against either party.  I'm sure cheating like bad driving is a way of life for the people here.

Charlie Christ just looks gay.  Serious gay face going on there.

Oh, I thought you were talking about there being a huge number of gay conservatives.  Half of those you listed I'd never heard of.  It's not to say that womanizers and cheaters are exclusive to the Dems, just the more notorious ones.  But that reinforces my sentiment towards Edwards...how's he really any worse than anyone else in the business?

I used to oppose term limits, but that no longer applies.
Title: Re: Democrats could have a worse candidate....

I really don't give a shit who the public figure is - HOW, in this day and age, could anyone be stupid enough to believe that it would be kept secret?    Joe Nobody has a difficult enough time flirting with the Hooters girl without some buddy whipping out the cell phone cam and busting him.

And not that I'm excusing Edwards, but it does take two to tango, and considering that another Edwards staff member is claiming paternity, it sounds like girlfriend there did a fair bit of dancing, plus it was no secret that Edwards is married.  Plenty of scummy behavior on all sides.

What I mean is that I disagree with putting degrees on things.  Like some people who wouldn't give a shit about any of this if it weren't for the fact that the wife has cancer and cancer is worsteratiwotgkrwlgrl!!wweg  Everybody has their problems.  People with cancer aren't special, they're just know how they'll probably die.
Title: Re: Democrats could have a worse candidate....

Which is pretty fucking depressing and scary and to have someone you thought you could trust, who was your support through this trying time, stab you in the back is worse in my book than if you could just say "oh well, fuck him I'm going on with my life" instead of "oh well, fuck him, I'm going on with my li...oh wait I'm fucked".

It's really flippant to just rattle off "they just know how they'll die" when the truth is they have to figure out how they'll live with the fact that their time here is effectively over when it comes to living a normal life.  Who would want her now? What hope does she have of starting over with someone else? I mean is she even hot?  If she's attractive then sure I'd hit it.  So at least she maybe has tha...nope I just saw a picture of her! She's done for and she'll never know the touch of my penis.  There is no tomorrow for this woman.

If Bill Clinton had spawned during one of his trists, would people be feeling as bad for Hillary?  No, because many see her as an cancerless bitch.  That doesn't make it right, just reality.

I enjoyed how the same liberal talkers who were demonizing Hillary for running against Saint Obama are now saying "POOR HILLARY! Edwards is to blame for her losing, because he should have never been in the race since he had this in the closet." Fuck them like fuck the conservative talkers, they're all about political stories.

Oh, the Democrats do have it worse. The Detroit mayor makes this infidelity look like a wild night out at a nightclub.

Not only has Kilpatrick, the Detroit mayor and a married man, had strippers at his mansion for the amusement of himself and his close friends, but he also had at least one affair with a woman at City Hall, Christine Beaty.

The affair is the reason for his current troubles. Forget all the public money he wasted for his own amusement.

A few days after the strippers at the Mayor's mansion, one of them was gunned down in a driveby (possibly by someone hired by the mayor's wife).

Detectives investigated, and the mayor fired both of them, because the investigation probably would have revealed his cheating ways.

The Detectives sued. During the trial the Mayor said on the stand that he did not have sexual relations with that woman (Beaty).

New evidence (text messages, mostly) came up showing he DID have an affair with Beaty.

Now he's in court with 8 felony counts for lying on the stand (perjury) and conspiracy.

And he has two more felony accounts for beating up a police officer who came to the mansion with a warrant.

So Detroit's mayor wastes public money, has strippers, cheats on his wife, lies in court, beats up cops, and he thinks he's King of Detroit and all shall bow to him, and that he's being prosecuted because he's black and the white man is trying to take him down. White politicians have resigned for much less.

Did I mention that the FBI is investigating Detroit city council for accepting bribes from companies?

No tomorrow for Elizabeth Edwards?  Ha, more than Bernie Mac's ass got.

I stand by what I said.  I'm tired of "and has cancer" becoming to life's problems what "in bed" is to fortune cookie fortunes: as if it's added on for impact.  I'm not saying cancer isn't horrible, but I'm annoyed that it's being used to quantify Edwards' offense.  Even Edwards himself is guilty of this, since he tries to downplay it by saying that it happened when her cancer is in remission.  Because: Less cancer = less bad!!q23rkfljl  WTF-ever.

It's not so much Teh Kanser, but her being married to a shithead who can't keep his pants zipped when she has enough to deal with already.   If you want a guarantee that almost nothing will go wrong, wear out or break down during the span of the relationship, get a Toyota, not a spouse.  Many people can relate to a cancer incident, which is why it has a particular cachet, and it seems to have become a synonym for The Worst That Can Happen - when I was being treated for clinical depression years ago, my former husband actually said that he wished I had cancer instead so he would have some proof that I wasn't just making it up.  (Of course - a 30-year-old suicidal woman whose weight drops from 114 to 93 in a month is merely being fashionable.   Nothing wrong there.)

But, as always, Rush has the answer.   The whole thing is Elizabeth's fault, so cancer really doesn't enter into the equasion.

Quote
It just seems to me that Edwards might be attracted to a woman whose mouth did something other than talk...my theory that I just explained to you about why — you know, what could have John Edwards' motivations been to have the affair with Rielle Hunter, given his wife is smarter than he is and probably nagging him a lot about doing this, and he found somebody that did something with her mouth other than talk.

What does quantify or add impact to something?  If not a life threatening/terminal disease then what? He was addicted to prescription pain-killers (Wikipedia says it was oxycodone and hydrocodone) following a surgery that went awry, for which he entered rehab before being accused later of doctor-shopping in Florida to obtain them.  When the state couldn't prove the charges he settled with them by paying for the investigation costs and agreeing to random drug screens.

As for fueling paranoia and anger, maybe...the paranoia and anger on the part of those who don't like what he's saying and want to shut him up.

Let's not forget his impromtu trips to Haiti after getting large amounts of painkillers and cialis. Haiti has one of the largest industries of child prostitution. I heard the little brown girls are the best.

Yes, I do think acts should weigh on their own merit.  I find it interesting that you're telling me I should judge to include "circumstances" when I don't even have all of them.  Sounds to me that you're so impartial you'd just jump on the side of whoever's dying.  I almost can't wait 'til I have cancer.  Oh boy!  I'll win at everything!!!e321rklnlg  Yay, pity!  (http://www.rabbitinasuit.com/emoticons/A-D/cheering.gif)

Not saying there's a law in this case, but we have different degrees of murder etc. based on the circumstances.  I'm saying it's just natural to sympathize or condemn to a greater or lesser degree based on the circumstances to the point that even the laws that govern our society do so.

What filthy stuff?  Regardless, two wrongs make a right?

I just plain don't like mean.  I've never watched a reality show because I don't like to see people being humiliated.   I've never seen Jerry Springer.   Rush is, as my dear late grandmother would have phrased it, "tacky".  If that makes me some kind of wuss, so be it, but commentary such as his totally goes against what I learned as the Golden Rule, and I'm having a rather difficult time beliving that I'm the only person within airwave earshot with the same sentiment.  Hence, I don't listen to him.  That's one of the beautiful things about living in a free country - the right to eradicate a station from one's car dial.

If he's anyone's inspiration, fine.  Once again, living in a free country....

If Obama picks Biden for VP, I think the republicans have this. If McCain picks Romney... then ditto. If the RNC were smart, they'd pick some ultra conservative to point to his succession.

Yeah, but some people have it coming and I love seeing that

I can't risk the notion of whomping some sense into Eddie's mom and brother with a folding chair seeming too much like a good idea because of TV hypnosis.  It's already crossed my mind a few times.

I don't see Obama getting help from any of those in the pool unless it's Hillary, but I think both would rather die than share a ticket.  I would imagine that he'd be better served with a more moderate veep than those being touted, as I don't think running a partisan leftist for President with a more established partisan leftist will do much to help his campaign.  I'd laugh my ass off if it turns out that former yet now non-Democrat Joe Lieberman gets the nod...it'd widen the ticket's appeal by a light year to cut into the moderate vote that McCain's angling for, and it'd give a big middle-finger to establishment party politics.

McCain OTOH would benefit from a conservative to shore up the base, but rumors keep roiling over him picking a pro-choice moderate.  Romney would be better than Tom Ridge, particularly due to his economic acumen.  But he and McCain share similar weaknesses in that they're known for rolling on issues and having a light social record.  And adding a cult member to the ticket won't suit us fundies who already aren't solidly on the McCain bandwagon.  I'm thinking Huckabee's looking really good to them right now, as are several of the other Republican governors like Pawlenty and Palin (the female appeal of whom might help sway Hillary supporters as well as middle-aged male chauvinist pigs).

It boils down to this irrefutable fact: this election will be an up-or-down referendum on Obama.  He might as well put out "I Believe in Barry Obama" signs, because it's going to come down to whether people like and trust him or not.  Either you foolishly believe in the "change Change CHANGE" mantra and that he'll stop the business-as-usual, Washingtonian, institutionalized politics of the present, or you're scared of him turning us red and decide to vote for the perceived lesser evil.  The vice-presidential nominee is immaterial at this point.

I'm getting sick of the McCane ads against Obama that show him with a stupid grin on his face, his upper teeth sticking out like a donkey. What better way to show the world your opponent isn't right for the job than making him look like a retarded black man.

Racist ads FTW.

I watched a little bit this morning.  They had a security guard with the lower half of his body missing.  Can't imagine how good of a security guard he'd be.

That would be the guy who walks on his hands, right? I've always wondered how he goes to the bathroom if his ass and man organs are missing. Hell, it looks like everything below the belt is missing, including his bladder.

Of course, that's it!  Racism.

You should look into becoming a paid PMSNBC contributor.

What the fuck are you talking about?  Of course you want to show unflattering images of your opponent, and no matter what kind of image you have of Obama he'll always be black in said image.  God damn I wish you were in some of my classes in college.  You'd say something retarded like that and then I'd stand up and call you out for being retarded in a rich smooth baritone voice, every girl in there would cream her panties at my perceived intellectual prowess and willingness to instigate confrontation.

As opposed to Fox News.

I thought about recommending them, but figured he'd be more at home with DNC-TV.

You don't even want to start... but then yeah MSNBC is as much DNC as Fox is RNC.

I'm just basking in the glow of the most racist douche bag here playing the race card.

It's like canned sunshine.

Actually, Obama pokes fun at the way he looks himself all the time.  And if someone is thinking, "Hell, no,  ain't goan' vote fer that ole jug-eared buck-tooth nigger!", it's not going to be because of anything McCain says or does - that decision was made long before either McCain or Obama announced their intentions.  Probably before anyone had really heard of Obama.

I personally don't care if people vote against him because they're racists or not...so long as they vote against him.

I enjoy how people still say they know nothing about Obama... just fess up that you hate him because he's Liberal, or black, or a shill for the DNC and basically the Democrat George W. Bush.

Without any bias, we have access to both his Illinois legislative and Congressional voting records, he's made plenty of speeches, and we know who he hangs out with.  So what else is there to find out about him?  All it amounts to is a bunch of a-holes with the right to vote but are too lazy to make an informed one.

The GOP convention should be a hoot....

McCain opposes drilling in that protected land, (ANWAR) and some committee members said they would rather bring him around on the issue once he's in the White House. "He's not there yet," said delegate Jeff Grossman of Oregon. "Prudence would dictate that we leave the text as it is until our candidate catches up with us."

Sounds kind of like "Oh, I'll change him once we get married!"

I don't trust McCain not to buttkiss the Democrats the whole time he's in office, which is why I will not vote for him.
