(and I'm suprised that fit as a topic title).
I'm in shock to see commercials for a new CG St*r WarzzZZ movie, in theaters. I had heard rumors but expected it to be one of those straight to DVD things, like many shitty Disney movies are released.
Of course, I'm going to see it eventually. But it makes me wonder if maybe Lucas is just mentally unstable, that he's not happy or sane unless he's constantly making more movies for his franchises. Either it's a case of unending greed, or he just can't let go, and spends hours in his basement writing screenplays and going "Must.... make... more... star... wars.......... can't.... let.... my... baby... die... can't... let... star...wars...fade... away...."

I think the SW thing will be good, it looks a helluvalot better than the cartoon did.

Lucas didn't write or direct it…so it has a chance of being decent.

The story is by Lucas...which is where Lucas should be used. Let other people do the foot work and let him just be the idea man...cause he fucks it up in the details. From a general overview the prequel stories were sound...it was when he got down to the nitty gritty that he really started to turn it into a cluster fuck.
Course Kingdom of the Crystal Skull wasn't written or directed by him and it was an epic fail.

I enjoyed it. The box office didn't seem to dislke it (it wasn't the 'Love Guru' x.x). The DVD sales will be stellar.

Ehhhhh. Not a recent movie, but I watched Beowulf. It was a movie I SHOULD have liked. Good fight scenes and epic IDE-like moments....but I didn't. I didn't like it at all.
Maybe it was the Naked Beowulf fighting Grendel. Maybe it was the constant fornication. Maybe it was the unlikability of the Beowulf character. I just didn't like it.

Maybe it was the Naked Beowulf fighting Grendel. Maybe it was the constant fornication. Maybe it was the unlikability of the Beowulf character. I just didn't like it.
I don't think Beowulf was supposed to be likeable. He's the guy who comes to your house, empties your fridge, drinks all your beer, leaves monster pieces all over the living room, fucks your girlfriend, goes to the next guy's house for round two, and brags about it on message boards.

Well I'm sure there is someone out there that thinks "Showgirls" is the best movie he's ever seen too. Takes all kinds.
And the TPM's box office was impressive as well. A lot of shit movies do well at the box office, and a lot of good ones tank. Although that's not me saying that the Love Guru was good by any means.

While that movie had faults, I don't think the character of Beowulf was one of them.
Lucas just makes my skin crawl. I just try to forget anything he's been involved since Episode One.

I think IDE at least puts the monster pieces down the disposal like a well-brought-up berserker.

I had trouble caring if he lived or died. I didn't really feel bad for him in the end when he did.

I had the same problem when I read Beowulf in high school.
