Title: "Get your hands off me you damn dirty death!"
Post by: Rama on Apr 06, 2008, 01:27:20 AM
Charlton Heston dead at 84.

Now I'm going to go watch Planet of the Apes, Omega Man, and Soylent Green in his honor.

Omega man disturbed the fuck out of me when I was younger. I watched it when I was like 11, and it messed me up. I doubt the Will Smith movie could make me fear zombies that much.

Time to pry that gun from his hands.

But seriously, RIP.

The ending of Planet of the Apes freaked me out.  That's one movie I'm glad I saw first-run in the theater - I was only 7, but still remember everybody gasping collectively.  Rest easy, Chuck.

Wow Alzheimer's claimed him pretty quickly.  It doesn't seem like that long ago that he was diagnosed and stepped down from the NRA.  Still that's pretty sad to see him go.

Ben-Hur remains my favorite movie of all time.  And Ten Commandments was worth it just for that Red Sea scene.

Yeah, I was thinking that as well.  First diagnosis of symptoms was August 2002, so a few months shy of 6 years.  Better than being half here forever like Reagan.  :-\

Reagan only had it for a year.  The rest of the time he was just acting.

My personal hero Gordie Howe is going through something similar with his wife who has had Pick's Disease since 2002, kind of like Alzheimer's.  First woman agent/manager in any major sport and author of a number of books -of all people.  :(

Oh, it's just Regan.  Don't worry, he'll tire himself out.

Regan sleepy...

Reagan needed to make ANOTHER deal with the devil, one that didn't involve his brain shrinking to the size of a prune.

That WAS the other deal.

My nephew has already agreed to leave the pills whwre I can reach them in case of such.  Can't imagine God would take exception to someone ending things early in order to not send a family to the poorhouse.

There are tests now that you can take and will tell you if you'll have alzeheimer or not in the future. I would NEVER EVER take that damn test, I don't know what I would do if I found out I'm going to have that. it's HORRIBLE.

Yet another advantage of being a gun owner...and, therefore, yet another thing we can thank Chuck for.

Get this, I just found out the guy was a registered Democrat. I would have pegged him as a Republican.

It's common knowledge...like Churchill said, "if you're not a liberal when you're young, you have no heart; if you're not a conservative when you're old, you have no brain."
Title: Re: "Get your hands off me you damn dirty death!"

And if you're lucky enough to live a long life those liberal values will be conservative values by the time you die.

Then maybe it'll become a paradox where the conservative values of yesteryear become radical "new" liberal ideas.

The use of the quote was not meant to be taken as axiomatic, simply emblematic.
