Stop showing previews for it. It's creepy! I can't sleep if I'm all creeped out! :(
-
'MEOW!"
-
I love horror, and i love SMG.
-
The Grudge is gonna suck. It's not even gonna be funny like Child's Play, it's just gonna be dramatic and stuff. Plus, it has Sara Michelle Gellar. Grossness!
-
Oh really? I disagree.
-
You're wrong, then.
-
No, I'm not.
-
That commercial is on during every damn AS show after midnight. I hate the woman crawling down the stairs. :(
Nuri, do you get that gawd-awful Emergency Alert System thing that makes the electronic screeches & resets all the channels to the Weather Channel for a few seconds after it's done? What the hell happened to the soothing voice intoning "This is only a test" followed by the little high-pitched tone?
-
I get an "An emergency alert is in effect, please tune to channel 19 for further details" over and over for about 19 times.
Yea, the movie. I guess I would go see it. The Exorcist:The Beginning didn't do me any justice.
At least I didn't have to pay for it.

I actually did myself one worst and found a bunch of summaries on the Japanese television and theatrical movies that the American Grudge is based on. I don't know why I have to succumb to temptation like that. Creepy shit.
I get the noise thing but not the Weather Channel reset. I really should've posted this at the Brats board but it just slipped my mind. You're gonna love this. So it's after the first showing of Wolf's Rain a few Saturdays back and Merla and I are all "okay, so now what do we watch?" I changed the channel to HGTV and found myself watching Designer Finals. Less than ten minutes in that horrid electronic screech comes on accomplanied by a male voice. It completely drowns out the sound (and lucky me is watching on a TV with no captioning option).
This isn't the first time it's happened and the male voice will say "This is an emergency, yadda, yadda,.... please turn to channel 20... blah blah". It always wants me to turn to channel 20, which is the public access channel here in San Antonio. I don't know why they don't have me turn to 19 or 21, which are used for nil at this time of night. Sometimes I'll turn to it, and they'll be nothing there. Or sometimes it'll just have in type whatever the stupid man already said to me that made me turn to the channel in the first place. It's starting to piss me off because this is like abuse of the system. If you're gonna buzz a damn noise at me and drown out my show, especially at this hour, there better be missiles decimating the Alamo over a toppled Tower of the Americas.
So I change it to see if maybe something is actually there this time and in white type (over some poor idiot's public access show) is AMBER ALERT blah blah blah. They put out a damn Green Ambler Alert at fifteen minutes past midnight. I'd get doing this on the radio or later in the morning on TV when people are about to head out of their homes but on TV at that hour? When it's late and dark and most decent people are home for the day by then or out doing something completely non television-related that they miss the thing entirely? Are the people in the bars watching TV gonna switch over the channel? Would they even hear it? Yeah, we're gonna see these abducted kids really well in the freaking dark. And what's more, the actual abduction or whatever didn't even take place in our county. And kids get nabbed everyday so why is this suddenly different? Are these kids gold-plated or diamond-encrusted that their nabbing (most likely from a disgruntal relative anyway) gets this kind of precedence? What a freaking abuse of the system.
-
ITA. An Green Ambler Alert should be on the news. The emergency alert system should be reserved for a crisis affecting EVERYONE. Do they broadcast emergency alerts for missing adults? Then don't do it for missing kids. That's age discrimination.
-
Back to the movie - I went to the interactive site (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thegrudge/site/flash/) but chickened out at the stairs. People moving in ways they shouldn't wigs me. We were planning to get this really nice above-ground pond with a solar-powered fountain this Xmas for the corner of the yard by the swing & hammock, but I don't want to after seeing Ringu. :(
-
That website is scary!! Nothing happened, but just the feel, the colors and the noises creeped me out.
I was like, "I don't like this, I don't like this"
-
you guys just talking about it being scary scared me, and i stopped after just clicking on the stairs.
I really wanna see it in theatres but i need someone who wouldnt mind me twisting their arm off in fright to accompany me.
-
Whoa, that was neat! I especially like the bloody hand when you die. :D

Yeah, exactly. They did it again tonight, but it was a flash flood warning.

I saw The Grudge on Friday night with some friends.
Scary as fuck, I actually screamed at one point.
-
One of the cooks at work, not one of the stoner ones, a cool one, said he saw it and he thought it was good. I get real scared of shit though... I don't know if I should. ^^;;
-
We should all go. Bernie's buying the pop-cr0n.
-
Remember, everyone who's not a student you're either a senior, a member of the armed forces, or a child under 3.
-
We'll see a matinee.
-
That website was at least as fulfilling as Silent Hill 4.
-
We should all go. Bernie's buying the pop-cr0n.
Hell, yeah. Nothing like a full tub of popcorn in every lap during a good jump movie. Indoor blizzard! :P
-
I never understood with the rip-off prices of movie concessions how people could leave things unfinished at the end of the movie. Tubs of nearly full popcorn and trays of nachos? If I'm paying 3.50 for an Icee, I'm drinking every damn drop.
-
I always sneak stuff in. Popcorn is the only thing I'd buy!
-
I used to sneak in candy and soda/juice. Sometimes I still do, but I almost never go to movies anymore so going on a whim doesn't leave me much time to sneak anything in. People are really getting bolder about what they sneak in. Hamburgers... fried chicken... come on, just eat after or before the movie.
-
I sneak small stuff, like cans of fruit juice and stuff, sometimes, but mostly I just buy a drink then get something to eat afterwards. The theatre I go to has restaurants surrounding it anyway.
-
Since I'm a bootlegger, I just get something from the kitchen and then watch the movie in the den.
-
-

Then where's the excitement of the oral sex?
-
And people always think the sticky theatre floor is due to spilled sodas....
-
Your crassitude is shocking Bernie.
I think I used crassitude right...
-
Your crassitude is my sardonic social observation. :P
-
Crassitude?!? That's a new word. I've heard of Sassitude but crassitude no.
-
And of course everyone's heard of badditude.
-
If any of us had NES' we have.
-
I had an Atari. :|

Dude, if that was the ending that sucked. I liked the Japanese ending I had read about better. I may still see the movie though but still....
-
Japanese summary for anyone who cares to compare the two:

I hope this trend of shitty American remakes stops soon. Ringu blew the Ring away.
-
 No, it didn't.......
-
I'm not talking gore, number of cute girls and Naomi's nipple shots in the well, I'm talking atmosphere. Sadako owns Samara.
-
If even you thought it was better for some reason, it's ridiculous to say that the American story was "blown away"
-
A purely subjective opinion. I still wanted to put a round above-ground pond in our yard after seeing The Ring. Ringu revised that plan.
I know that's stupid - mock me at will.
-
Bluh! :o
-
*hides under the desk* :(
-
:: bites desk ::
-
It was BLOWN away. Naomi Watts should stick to fucking other chicks, like in "Mulholland Dr." Boo hiss. I don't care if she did play Jet Girl.

The ending was kind of abrubt and stupid.
And still.. Sarah Michelle Gellar's hair looked amazing!
-
Did you read the Japanese ending? That would've kicked ass if they had done it that way. Take THAT, Buffy! I'm wondering if maybe this movie was the victim of test audiences, whose "valid opinions" ended up managling the end product. I still wanna see it though.
