Title: STFU

Quoted here for your convenience:

Quote
The US Alzheimer's Association has urged Julie Christie not to joke about the disease at Sunday's Oscars.

The 66-year-old is nominated for the Best Actress award for her portrayal of a woman suffering from the progressive illness in Away From Her.

However, she angered the organisation with a comment during her acceptance speech at last month's Screen Actors Guild Awards.

After thanking the film's cast and crew, she said: "If I've forgotten anybody, well, it's just that I'm still in character."

Mental health campaigners have called for sensitivity at the ceremony with both Away From Her and The Savages, which deals with dementia, nominated for awards.

Peter Braun of the Alzheimer's Association told the Los Angeles Times: "It is no laughing matter. People don't laugh about cancer, people don't laugh about AIDS.

"We call on the Academy to use this moment for good, as it has done for so many other social causes."

Jesus, take a chill pill, homey.  Does he ever use the internets?

Based on my aunt's ten year ordeal with it, I'd esteem Alzheimer's as a horrible way to go.  But that doesn't mean you can't make fun of it.  In a day where people routinely mock Jesus and racial issues, I don't see where Alzheimer's (or AIDS or cancer, or even death itself, for that matter) is taboo.

Not to mention that her comment was *gasp* actually funny.

I want to see George Lopez and Carlos Mencia fight.  Hopefully, they'll take each other out in the process.

He'll copy his finishing move "Unfunny Latin Man Abuses The Song 'Low Rider'", and that'll be the end of that.

Word up, my grandma has it and I'm pretty sure the poor thing doesn't even know what is going on.

I was DYING to see that movie when I saw the trailer, but then I knew I was going to cry like a little bitch and decided not to watch it :-/

I still want to see it.  It's pretty well buried in my queue, but it'll surface eventually.
