As it seems that my optics are at the end of their useful life, I need new ones.
For all you people on this board who get glasses, where do you get them?
Previously, my insurance covered eyecare. But now that they have decided I don't need to see to go about my daily business, I have to pay for glasses out of pocket.
So I'd rather get some cheaper ones, I don't want to spend $200-300 on a pair.
I'm thinking of DOC which is right next to my work, or America's Best which is on the other side of town.

I got mine at my eye doctors for $75. Actually, my mom's insurance paid for them, but that's not the point. Does your optometrist's office also sell glasses? Also, we have a place here called "Payless Optical," where they charge only $30 for the entire prescribtion, but what they have is kind of ugly. That's where my last pair came from, because the ones I'd gotten before that broke and my mom's insurance only pays for new frames every other year. :\

I can see in the dark. I have cat-like eyesight and sense of smell.

That's what we call not helping.

Costco.
-
you must still live on your parent dime.
-
I go to Wal-mart. Only spent about $170 for eye chell up, new awesome thick black/yellow frames and other little expenses.
I seriously considered getting contacts, but my eyes aren't bad enough.

.............. ................your point?

I wonder when I will make an account.
-
I wondetr when I'll need glasses. Besides never.
-
Lenscrafters. They usually have good deal.

Me, too. Stop delaying the board's virginity and get on with it. Anticipation makes it restless.

Didn't know you were a fellow four-eyes. Are they just for reading?
I'm torn between getting cheap frames and shelling out a couple of hundred for new ones myself. On one end, the cheap frames will cost me next to nothing (as there should be a dozen places in any sizable city with cheap eyeglass places) but on the other hand, my current glasses have sure lasted a long freaking time, so I'm getting my money's worth. I'm scared of the contact lense. I think I may poke my eye out. My nails can be pretty sharp sometimes.

I only need them for taking notes in class (techinally driving too but I know my town pretty well by now... and I don't do a lot of extra driving at night).

My GF got frames from Lenscrafters, and the paint peeled off them, and the lenses always pop out.
I thought this was a thread about asking if Chick's with glasses are hot.
Because they are. So freaking hot...
-
I've had mine for about two years now. I got them from Target. Insurance covered the frames and 20% of the lenses. I got the ultra light lenses along with transition (so I do not have to switch between regular glasses and sun glasses). Total cost was $180. I think they maybe the last pair I own. I wear my contacts 95% of the time and am seriously considering laisk.
-
I've never gotten anything from Lenscrafters, but I've gone to cheap places before. I don't go to cheapo places anymore because I found cheap glasses slide down my nose and then make it break out and get all green on the sides. X_X
-
o.o;
-
Yeah, pretty gross.
-
Never happened from mine... thank god.
-
In retrospect, it might've been an allergic reaction from something in the glasses or the little nose thingies on the glasses.
-
Or there was an evil curse on them.
-
I switched to a doctor at Pearle when the opt I'd had for years suddenly turned into a walking ad for Lasik. Stopped doing good exams and kept trying to gat me to finance it right after I'd bought my house & really didn't need another big debt - jerkoff. I've been pleased with them for both contacts & glasses.
-
Yeah seems like everyone wants to push LASIK nowadays. My last doctor kept talking about custom lasik and was pushing for me to make an appointment.
-
I really want to get glasses, and I want some nice frames since I have insurance now.
I guess I should find an optomotrist and see if theyre on my plan.
I have that same fear of contacts and the daily eye poke.
-
I've been scared from wanting to try eye surgery from the various stories told to me in highschool science classes about the eyeball falling out like loose orange slices.
-
Ow.
-
Yeah, it's like they wanted to keep us in glasses telling us that shite.
-
My brother had it done and loves it. He saw halos at night for quite a while, but I do that with my gas perm lenses, too. I'm not ruling it out, but on MY schedule, thank you. I don't give a fuck about how many kids my doctor is trying to put through Rice.
-
i read "sperm lenses"
-
Ha ha ha! So did I.
-
No way. That burns like a mofo and makes your eyeball feel like it's frozen in place. :P
-
thanks god that have never happened to me before!
