You must read or die!
Ok, so that's the name of an anime. R.O.D. I heard the OAV was playing on Cartoon Network, but I haven't seen it anywhere.
R.O.D the TV series was on TechTV a week ago. the series seems to be about these three girls for hire that are utterly obsessed about books. They worship books and reading. Guess that explains the title "Read or Die", they kill you if you're not someone who reads.
They also have superpowers involving paper. They have the ability to use paper as weapons, shields, or make flying objects or walls with them. It's pretty wierd.
Techtv is now playing Gungrave. I'm disappointed in Gungrave. The first episode showed the guy from the videogame, the man in the purple hat and trenchcoat with the massive guns. But every single episode after that has been devoid of his presence. Instead there's two friends who join the mafia and it follows their story. I think it's some kind of flashback.
However, the flashback has been going on for almost 10 episodes, and no sign of a plot whatsoever, or even the character the anime is named after.
So I can safely say that the Gungrave anime sucks a camelcock.
Full Metal Alchemist starts on Adult Swim in November. Let's hope for minimum edits.

Gungrave is awesome.
The mob drama backstory is the best part of the series.
I've seen the whole series and I reccomend it to ANYBODY.
-
too bad nobody can reccomend the video game.
-
Actually, Doug, the R.O.D. in R.O.D. the TV stands for "Read or Dream", which is what the manga it's based on is called. And Read or Die is playing November 6.
-
The mob backstory of Gungrave is what's boring me to death. It's so blah.
And FMA is starting on Nov 6 as well.
-
You have no taste.
-
I just saw the commercial for Read or Die on CN. Looks like it's gonna be good but then they probably wont be.
-
It doesn't look good to me (that commercial = stoopid), but since I always watch AS on Saturday, I'll probably watch anyway. The commercial said teh 23rd, this coming Saturday.
-
I'm just saying mob dramas don't really interest me much. I've never seen the Godfather, I'm in no huge hurry to see it, and I've never seen the Sapranos either. So the first half of Gungrave is kinda boring to me. Although it's finally starting to get interesting with the intro of the zombies.
TechTV is pissing me off though. The station stopped playing Gungrave episodes to show R.O.D episodes in the middle of the series. Then a few days later, played a few more Gungrave episodes. Now they're playing R.O.D from the beginning...
When did they hire monkeys to do the fucking scheduling?
An interesting thing I just found out. Gungrave is owned by a new anime dub company called Geneon, who also owns the rights to R.O.D, Last Exile, and Stellvia. For a new company they got a lot of good anime under their belts.

Geneon is Pioneer.
-
Read Or Die - biggest set of anime hooters since Seras in Hellsing
I think it will find viewers somehow.
-
I don't know, Heinkel in the filler manga at the end of the first three Hellsing volumes had some pretty big ones. oO
-
YAY BOOBS!
-
Geneon is Pioneer.
You're shitting me.
When the hell did this happen?
And why didn't I know?
-
The R.O.D. the OVA was the bitches nitches. I need to watch the show now!!
-
They started it over a while ago, and tommorrow we're finally picking up where we left off. The last ep I saw had the big guy in the black coat scaring the piss out of the three chicks. There should be some really neato fight scenes tommorrow. :D
-
Oh my gawd, that ROD thing on Adult Swim was nearly the epitome of suck. The chick in the tight outfit with the boobs was the only thing it had going for it and her constant dying lost its drama after the first time. Almost no one could act, especially the main girl, egad, wtf, my f'ing ears. She was so horrible she makes Chris Sabat's Vegeta equal to all the works of twenty Leonardos. Save for two or three people, this dub was just awful. Even Crispy-coat Freeman was off in that, and he's usually so good in stuff. Instead of sounding like a British guy, he sounded like Crispin Freeman trying waaaay too hard to sound like a British guy whilst making sweet, sweet love to every other syllable like a special needs child with a broken helmet. The villains were a joke, which is a shame because the whole suicide song thing and the fortress were kinda cool, and so was that Drake guy. The President peeing in his pants all the time was just.... weird. What, did that happen like three times? Bleh.

No cookies for Nuri, then. :(

 !!! Thank you - if you can't hold an accent true throughout the whole performance, don't even attempt it.

I liked Genjo and the underwater ruins. Anyone else hear him say "Kladuu barata nictoe" when he was parting the waves?

Notice the hoo-dawgies accent the Pres had? ROFL!
Don't know that I'll watch the series, but the OVA was a nice change from going to sleep depressed every Sunday morning. I wasn't too thrilled with the way Wolf's Rain wrapped up.
-
It was an ending I could live with. The series did have some poor pacing problems. It just kinda felt like after all they went through, Hubb, Cher, and Quent were thrown away.
ROD I actually recorded and then wound my way through it once the first showing was over. I could tell it probably wasn't gonna be that good and that I'd want those two hours of my life back. Somewhat related, is that the reason why Alucard (sp?) didn't have an accent?

IIRC, he didn't do an accent for Alucard to create the effect of someone who had been around so long in so many places that he had lost any regional affectation. Or maybe that's something his girlfriend said before he could take a breath to talk during an interview. :P I do remember he said that Alucard was the most sexually predatory character he'd ever voiced, which I thought was interesting coming from the voice of Touga.
And on Wolf's Rain....so Kiba stayed a wolf and had to start his search all over again while the other 3 were reincarnated as humans? Like becoming human was an improvement. <_<

Hmmmm, so I guess that's a 'yes'.

Anybody seen The Super Milk Chan show? If so is it worth buying?
-
I haven't seen it. It looks kinda stupid to me.
-
Hey! Milk is never funny.
-
I hear breast milk has its moments.
-
Well at least breasts themselves are funny.
-
Yeah, especially when they start doing that "Who's on first" act.
-
It's hell though when they start fighting and slapping each other. :(
-
 I uh ...um wow!
-
It's not even worth trying to pretend that I don't really, really wanna see that.
