Title: Obilgatory Seasonal Question!
Post by: Bernie AKA on Oct 15, 2004, 11:00:21 AM
What's everyone doing for Halloween, and what are you doing it as, if anything?

Since Eddie's not working a crappy haunted house with broken anamatrons like last year, we may go to the downtown Main Street party.  Or stay home and terrorize kids.  We do enjoy that.  :)

Crimson Ghost for him, the vampire thing I didn't get to wear last year for me.  I had the perfect white dress to do Sadako from Ringu, but one of the psychotic hamsters that got loose last year gnawed through the box it was in and shredded the skirt for nest material.

I'm going to wear another costume that doesn't really have a title, but looks awesome anyway. My mom's gonna make the pattern for it Monday so I can sew the basic pieces of it next week.

My friend is having an annual party on the 23rd.  He usually has it on the weekend of the 17th seeing as how that's his birthday but he can't this year because of his high school's Homecoming.

I'm going as a fairy, I just need to find material for a skirt.  A friend is also going to be a fairy with me, just a different color.

Then on the actual Halloween night, I'm working but we get to dress up.

I'm waiting for Target to put everything on sale the last weekend.  They have all kinds of black wrought metal mirrors, candle sconces & holders, etc. that need to come live with us.

I wont be dressing up, maybe just go the all black route and excessive makeup.

In my younger years of schooling there was a lot of people who did this, and said they were going out as 'gothic people' and I'm thinking, most 'gothic people' were the coolest people I know, and your sorry ass going to dress as one of them, as if they were a monster.  Every time I saw someone do that, I saw it as an insult.  Too bad I was so much of a nerd I couldn't work up the nerve to say it to the trendy fuckers.

i am a sort of in and out goth, im not into the scene cause I dont like most goth people(or most people in general).
Just depends on my mood which has been set on self-loathing lately.
Black is just a color, im not trying to appropriate anyones group, the goths sicken me as much as the punks and the nerds and the yuppies do.
I've never been described as "trendy" and if you knew me youd be apologising, that is if you were talking about me indirectly and trying to sound cute.

Rave Dancer is NOT a costume.  Belly dancer works, though.

well, i was a rave dancer back in peru(rave dancer is not the same as raver btw) and i would not use the kind of clothes i had to use when dancing in a normal party

raver is a normal person that enjoys trance and go to raves and dance(that would make me a raver too). a rave dancer are those girls that stand in scenaries or little balconies and dance with glowsticks and give out prices and shit like that.

A princess or a fireman isn't a monster either.  It's just a get up, come on now.  I always thought people who did that as a Halloween only thing were just closet 'goths', as in they really wanted to dress that way but only got up the nerve to do it once a year when it was most acceptable to the other assholes.  :P

That's so stupid. Buy a sewing machine, you douche.

I spent all day sewing my costume, and it's still only about halfway done. It's not gonna be as awesome as lasy year's, but it'll still be pretty nice. And, I'll be able to use it more than once, unlike my sister who had Mom spend $50 on  a crappy costume for her.

Note on spending habits:

I normally hoarde my money like the world is ending. However, there are times where I do spend more money than usual.

Halloween being one of my favorite holidays, I don't find it unusual to spend a little more. That, and I can't sew well. I don't find it unusual to spend the $40-50 I've spent on costume, props, makeup, fake blood, and other such things.
