Title: Remember...
Post by: Derrick on Nov 05, 2007, 03:31:44 PM

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parliament.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

I was dissapointed to find out that most of those masks are made of flimsy plastic instead of a fake hockey mask type plastic.

I want a metal one.
Title: Re: Remember...

That would be even more awesome.  I think there is a hard plastic replica version but it was pretty expensive for just being hard plastic.

Yeah. Im only spending money on a stainless steel one.
Title: Re: Remember...

Or you could try permanently warping your face into that shape!  :D

What?
Title: Re: Remember...
Post by: IDE on Nov 06, 2007, 06:23:00 PM
A steel one would have to be made to fit your head exactly. Plastic stretches slightly to fit around your face.  A steel one could end up having you look like bobble head V.

Why not just get a stainless steal mask surgically implanted on your face?  You'd be pretty badass.

Wow, even I recognized him as Sirius Black and I don't even like Harry Potter that much. :P

As a footnote, it's sad Guy Fawkes didn't succeed. Should have stuck it to The Man.

Jesus.  ::)

Well that's what the dude sitting next to me said but I don't know!   :D  Besides, he's not all dirty and shit like he's suppose to be.  I depend on him being dirty to be recognizable.  You have no idea how bad I am with facial recognition.  I was half-way through the Keira Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice until I realized Donald Sutherland came out in it.  And a past semester when I was a volunteer note-taker, I spoke with the guy in charge of Disabilities at the school at length and then failed to recognize him less than four hours later.  He was all saying "hello, how are you" to me and I was all thinking "who the fuck are you".  And then Merla told me he was like thirty years old and I was all "ftw?  He looked like he was pushing 50!"  I think most people think I'm being a rude snob or something, especially since I'm already anti-social, but I honestly don't recognize a large percentage of the people I meet unless I see them on a semi-regular basis or something.  Of course no one ever believes me if I tell them that.   :P

Not to mention how come we're the only 'sentient' beings on this planet. If things were random and such, wouldn't more things have evolved beyond being critters?
Title: Re: Remember...
Post by: Rama on Nov 11, 2007, 02:53:23 PM
I actually remember reading someplace, (don't ask me where. It was like three years ago.) that a mathematician figured it out and at a totally random pace it would take something like 40-60 billion years for a single celled organism to develop. The Earth is only like 4 and half billion years old and there is already an abundance of super complex life forms, like us, here. They determined that an unknown force must have contributed to the fast development of life on earth, but stopped short of saying it was a deity

I said that this has alwasy been much less complicated than the misguided have made it out to be.
A simple question of whether or not you choose to take pride in yourself for what you have done or will do in your life or whether your real and tangible accomplishments are not enough for you. And you make an attempt to decide as if you're acting for a higher calling of some sort, something "bigger than myself" ::) as is so commonly heard.
Why the hell do you need that?  ???

Why is the world poisoned with such an absurd, childish fairytale as Creationism?
Title: Re: Remember...

I don't believe in Creationism, I believe in evolution. Evolution does not prove an absence of God, only the absence of an involved God.

Yeah what he said.  Though sometimes I've asked for things beyond the control of moral man and have been given them. Whether it was woven into the tapestry of fate that they be granted to me or what we cannot say.  My ley line became a lay line.

I didn't even bother with the series.  It already looked like it was going in a direction I didn't care to follow.  I dunno.  It could be good for what it is, I'm just saying this from what I've seen in ads over the years about it.  Yeah, it has MacGyver in it, but MacGyver was a cheesy-ass show.  There was a sense of wonder with the movie and it didn't look like the series even tried to capture that.

And MacGyver-related, I love how some people are attempting to document every problem he solved on the show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_problems_solved_by_MacGyver).
Title: Re: Remember...
Post by: Derrick on Nov 15, 2007, 11:04:54 AM
The main problem with Stargate is... they did alot of X-Files episodes. With Aliens based on mythology and problems that can come from that, why!? Then they started killing aliens off by the dozens while introducing new forms of aliens that never show up again.

I didn't even watch the last season. It was so fucked up that the last episode was just a mindfuck.
