Behind E of course.
I got an email this morning from FATE magazine (www.fatemag.com) telling me that they have accepted my article called "Wildfires and the Devil" about how Wild Fires in the New Jersey Pine Barrens might lead to increased sightings of the Jesery Devil. I don't know which issue it's going to be in yet. It could be a couple of months, and I still have to fill out and send back some paperwork and I'm not getting paid much for it. (around 94 bucks pre-edited. No idea post edited.) but it's a start....and it's a national mag, which is huge exposure for a first timer like me. I just can't believe the first the thing I ever submited got accepted. That almost never happens.
-
congratulations that's awesome. I need to write an article/book about staying 23 forever.
-
You should also submit that to FATE magazine.
Congrats, Rama.
-
Thanks. I need to start on another one to keep up the pace, but I've been really busy lately. Hopefully I can dig up another one I was working on in the files and see if I can finish that.

CONGRATS!!
I'm curious about that article! Copy/paste it here man, I wanna read!
-
I had articles published in my local paper about 9 years ago, does that count?
-
Don't kill this for him, Zac.
Score dude. Score.
-
heh, didn't mean to. i mean shit, its the LOCAL paper, and I'm more of an extra than a star in the sphere.
congrats on the article just the same, let us know when it hits stands and I'll buy a copy.
-
My published works probably wouldn't illicit interest since it's historical essays and book reviews...
Congrats, Rama!

Write something about bagging latin chicks. You have a latin girlfriend and faye has alluded to wanting your nuts on a couple occasions.
-
Are you talking about Rama?!?!?

No me.
My reviews were on Scandal by Anna Clark and Splendid Monarchy by Takashi Fujitani. Rather interesting books on political life in Britain and Japan respectively in the ninteenth century. My essay will be published in the spring and should be on the SMR in colonial Manchuria. Since they aren't on the interwebs and only in the DOHGSA thingy, Im not considering it truly published.
Mi pene es muy marivillo, though.

Department of History Graduate Student Association. I could have been a member of the board, but instead opted to board for Phi Alpha Theta. I figure a honors society is better than a general association that you're a member of when joining the program.
I get to dress up as a Pirate on Thursday!

I think that might violate the agreement I signed. I'm not sure, but I'm also no going to risk it. I do know I can reprint it in any book later on I want (including FATE compilation books) as long as I get permission first.

If you got paid for it, I'd say it counts. I've thought about writing some stuff for the local paper, but I don't know if they take Freelance stuff. From what I've seen it seems like the same 5 people write everything in there. And it’s a real jumping paper too.... An article about a woman and her Blue Ribbon winning jam took up most of the front page today. But I have thought about submitting something for the upcoming Halloween issue if they'll take it.
congrats on the article just the same, let us know when it hits stands and I'll buy a copy.
When I find out what issue it is in I'll be sure to post it. And does anyone know which chain stores carry FATE? I thought Barnes & Nobel did, but turns out they don't. (Not around here at least) and ever since I got the news people have been asking me where they can buy a copy when it comes out and I don't know what to tell them cause as far as I can tell no one around here carries it. So I'm going to have to track down some copies as they only give me one...and I plan on framing that one.
-
i think that it might violate MY ASS!!!
-
You're right. C'mere sexy!

I was making a reference to that homo called Mystery from the vh1 show the Pick-up artist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pick-up_Artist_%28TV_series%29

haha god that profile was sooo obviously written by him!
-
I hate that mystery faggot. Partly because I'm jealous (not of his "skills" but because he's on tv for that shit, I could be on tv for that).

I've decided I'm going to assemble a stand up comedy act. I never considered myself a stand up but I think I should give it a try. The more I read about stand up comedy boosting an actor career the more I can't ignore it. The thing is, my act would blow my cover since my act is about pretending to be 23 forever. Once I do my act I won't be able to do that anymore.
-
As long as I'm mentioned in your act.
-
There's a coworker that's going out west when he graduates to pursue a career in stand-up. Sadly, he appears to be this generation's George Lopez. He's nice as hell though.
Ha ha, VH1. That and MTV are the plague.

-
IDE's the Mystery of this board. He needs to teach me some of his tricks.
-
You're gonna have to buy the book like everyone else.
-
Or just start drinking energon.
-
Or do crack.
-
:o !
Apologize to him immediately!
With of course, your ass. :P
-

Update:
The article will appear in the January 2008 issue. It's not listed on their webpage yet, but should be after the X-mas break. I'll post a link when they do. I just got my advance copy today (actually yesterday, but I just checked the mail today.) and the editors didn't chop it up too bad so I should get most of money out of this.
-
Whoop whoop whooop!
I cannae do it Captain, I don't have teh POWAH!
-
You kow my Bio really sucks too. I'm ashamed I wrote it now, but I just scribbed it on the back of some paperwork and didn't pay it much mind at the time as I was trying to get it back in as quickly as possible. Going to have to rework it for my next article.

Here it is:

6th one down. Wildfires and the Devil.

Boo not a link. How dare they expect me to pay for their goods and services.

Well if you want to read it for free just go to your local Barnes and Noble and read it there. It's only about 2 and half pages long. It should be in the Sinence and Nature section of the Magazine rack. It's up front cause it's a small magazine about the size of a readers digest.
