So I saw the Iron Man trailer (http://www.ironmanmovie.com/).
And then I looked up the wiki page about Iron Man. Let's compare the comic history with the movie history shown in the trailer.
In the original comic, he goes to Vietnam to sell transistors for weapons. In the movie, he goes to the Middle East to sell weapons.
In the comic, he is caught in a booby trap (probably set to capture him) set by the Viet Cong. In the movie, he's caught in a surprise attack (probably a trap to catch him) by terrorists.
In both, he suffers serious heart damage.
In both, he is forced to make weapons for the Vietnam/terrorists, but ends up making a supersuit. The only thing missing that I can tell is the prisoner who helps him.
In the comic, Iron Man kills the Viet Cong holding him prisoner. In the movie, he kills the terrorists.
And the first Iron Man suit in the movie looks a lot like the original Iron Man costume from his first appearance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:ToS39.jpg).
But there's no communists in this movie. Just terrorists.
And of course, Stan Lee has a cameo, as always.
So, I expect this movie to kick mucho grande ass.

He better have a drunken orgy.
-
Tony Stark's POW origin is set in the Middle East now, circa the new Iron Man series.
-
That sounds pretty sweet. I like it when they stick pretty close to the orginal story and don't range too much (*cough* Transforers *Cough*)
-
And of course, Stan Lee has a cameo, as always.
As a terrorist, no doubt. "I declare jihad on you all. Excelsior!"
-
But who's going to be the main villain? Find out next week!
-
War Machine.
Oh sorry, I thought we were guessing for you since black people are evil and all.
-
That is unfortunately funny.
-
I hope they follow the Ultimate Universe's example and rethink the shitty villians of yore...
-
War Machine is a good guy.
I think Iron Man will have to fight the Codpiece (http://www.headinjurytheater.com/article59.htm) :joe:
-
War Machine is a good guy.
No kidding. At least Megs got it.
-
Stilt Man of course.
-
Hopefully Daredevil will be able to swing in sideways and kick Stiltman, thus saving Ironman.
-
I think I heard it was the Mandarin.
God, Iron Man's villains suck.
-
I wish I could disagree with that.
Actually, does alcoholism count as a villian?
-
It should. He never could beat that...
But he loves the women!
-
I never realized how woefully unfamiliar I am with Iron Man's villians.
-
You're not missing anything.
-
I don't recall iron man's villains either, but I'm pretty sure The Mandarin sucks.
