Title: WTB bionic shoulder
Post by: IDE on Sep 17, 2007, 06:14:34 PM
I have something called a SLAP tear.
http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/generalshoulder/a/slap.htm

I've had it for over 2 years and the doctor was surprised I'd put up with it this long.  The only explanation is my superior pain threshold and mutant healing factor.  Still he thinks surgery is in order because the tear can't repair itself.  I'll be stuck here in northern cuba for months.  By the time I get to hollywood the sword wielding barbarian movie trend will have gone the way of the dodo and I'll be rejected for role after role in the new chick flick era.  So it appears I've received my comeuppance for making light of shit sniffing african children.

Now if you'll excuse I'm going to join them.

Don't worry, chick flicks need muscle-bound jerks.  You'll never be rejected.

Hidden testicles in the shoulders would actually explain a lot about some guys.

I would seriously trade my arm in for something that looked like cable's.

Meh, I always lose you.  Then I have to explain the joke and it's never as funny as it should've been.

I have to do that a lot too. It's always like "Get it? No...well you see.....oh nevermind it's not funny now."

Course...it was rarely that funny to start with.

God, not the Duggars.  When that woman has to shit from around the 8th month on, I don't know how she keeps from squirting the kid out.  I read that one of the nutritious staples on their menu is "tater tot casserole"; essentially mushroom soup, canned peas and a little hamburger meat, throw frozen tater tots over the top and bake.  Our critters eat better than that.  :nono:

Title: Re: WTB bionic shoulder
Post by: Merla on Sep 21, 2007, 03:43:02 PM
It's inhuman for a woman to birth that many children.  :noway:

I don't agree with it but at least the family is self-sufficient and they aren't on public assistance.  I have an issue with those breeders that expect the government to pay for their kids.  I don't understand it.  Why have so many kids when your poor?!?  :fingershake:

To Rama:
Some crap about they should have as many as God planned or something.  ::)
Title: Re: WTB bionic shoulder
Post by: Rama on Sep 21, 2007, 03:47:31 PM
Yeah well in God's plan half of them would have died before the age of 8. So I guess they should randomly pick half their kids and take them out and drown them to insure God's orginal intent is met.

This attitude made sense when infant mortality was high, society was largely agrarian, and the planet didn't have 6 billion people.  And I don't want to hear the sad old refrain about how everyone in the world or the US or whatever could fit in Texas.  Overcrowded rats will eat each other alive, and that's damn near what happened when only 150,000 people came here en masse after Katrina.

Sooner or later, IDE, unless all of the younguns are homeschooled/in private school and sterile.  Then again, they could all decide to be childfree.  That would be a hoot.

Arkansas? That explains a lot. Someone give this woman a hysterectomy! Stat!

That chick is going to die an untimely death when all of her internal organs collapse.  My grandmother lived to a ripe old age before it happened to her but she only had 5 children.

Looked up some more info about this family, the Duggars. And the more I found out about them, the more it made sense in a way only a twisted fundie would understand.

First off, the woman wants MORE kids, which is frightening in itself.

Second, I'm reading their wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Bob_Duggar), and lo and behold:

Quote from: wikipedia
Duggar and his wife Michelle, who was named Young Mother of the Year in Arkansas in 2004, are conservative fundamentalist Christians who endorse the Quiverfull movement and the teachings of Bill Gothard.

Why am I not suprised. Only people who are conservative fundies would have this many children and consider them all blessings from God, as if HE made the choice for them to have so many kids. The Quiverfull movement:

Quote from: wikipedia
Its distinguishing viewpoint is to eagerly receive children as blessings from God, eschewing all forms of contraception, including natural family planning and sterilization.

I hate fundies like this. God isn't a fucking contraceptive. I was also unsuprised to find out that Duggar was a politician for the Republican party, AKA the "Neocon Fundie Party", since all fundies unfortunatly automatically become Republican, as if Jesus was a Republican and you can't be a good Christian without being Republican. I miss the old days when the Republican party was more balanced and not so right wing.

Then I swing by their website. Apparently, they use the Bible as a manual for their life. I wonder if that includes the part where you can sell off your daughters to a man for a bride price. And there was an explanation to why they refuse to use birth control: They consider it a form of abortion.

I hate to see idiots of any kind breed at all, and these people have to breed 17 mini versions of their stupidity.

I started disliking them when I saw a documentary done around the time of #14, I think.  The girls are being raised to be wives and mothers; the boys to be providers for same.  Such is certainly a valid life choice, but the operative word CHOICE seems to be lacking in that household.  Of course the neo-Nazis and their ilk think the Duggars are saints for creating so many white potential breeders.

Sure, it's a free country, and they have the right to pop out as many as they want, just as I have the right to regard people such as they with upmost contempt and another local couple now in their 70's with upmost respect and downright awe who have over the years adopted about a dozen children and provided a loving home for over ONE HUNDRED foster children.  They can have my tax dollars all day long.

utmost contempt? Really? Just for having a bunch of kids? If it's how the kids are being raised you're probably gonna have a whole lot of contempt going for a lot of other families as well.

No, upmost contempt for not viewing their children as individuals with free will.  I had the same opinion of an extremely wealthy client who wanted his son to follow in his business footsteps when the kid wanted to be a musician.  He eventually drank himself to death at the ripe old age of 32.

I wouldn't be worried about those kids.  They'll mount a rebellion and they've sure got their parents out numbered.

Ugh - I feel for ya.  I've blown my right knee out 3 times - once more, and it's the little laser for me.  The shitty thing now is that I don't even have to be doing anything fun for it to pop out of joint - first time I screwed it up I was playing basketball at 16, second time I was practicing Florentine fencing stage combat, and third time, I was rollerblading.  Last time I popped it in & out of place, I think I was stretching my leg at work.  :-\

The doctor doesn't think I should have surgery yet.  He thinks it would just need a little tightening up, but since this has only been bothering me for a month he thinks it might just go away with therapy...But I think that's bullshit.  I see him next week and I'm gonna tell him I might want to go to stunt school or something and see what he says then.

The earlier in life you have the surgery, the better.  You can be in perfect shape in years to come, but time will still have marched on in your joints. Just a sad fact.
