Working in a library I always get people asking me for supplies -pens, paper clips, highlighters. Well today I had a guy asking to borrow my cell phone because he needed to make a quick phone call. I don't think so MOFO!
-
I say "I have no minutes" or "My battery's dead"
-
Yeah fuck that. He shouldn't think he can pussy out and ask the librarian. If you're gonna ask a stranger for their phone man up and ask a random stranger.
-
She forgot to mention that he asked to borrow her phone AFTER a co-worker told him there was a courtesy phone in the computer lab a short walk away. Lardo didn't want to move his lazy ass.
-
Ain't nobody touching my cellphone that I don't know.
-
When I had one I let a stranger use it. We were at a bus stop and in this cellphone era, payphones are either dead or absolute shit.
-
When I was at a concert a couple weekends ago, one of the girls I was with used it to call someone during the concert. Yea, she had my phone for about 15 minutes and I was ready to freak out on her.
When she finally gave me back my phone, I said, "Whoever you were talking to owes me money for the free concert they just got."
-
Fifteen minutes FTW. Wasn't she interested in the actual concert?
-
Yea, she got the great idea to call her crazy friend via my phone.
-
Were you at a Dave Matthews concert because that might explain it.
-
I say "I have no minutes" or "My battery's dead"
I say "No".
Unless it's a little old Mexican lady who gets rear-ended in front of me at a stop light by some asshole who takes off. Then I let her call her husband, the dentist where she was headed over her lunch break, and the police station that turns out to be a block away.
-
I say "I don't have a cell phone." and then they look at me much the same way a man from the 21st century would look at a man from the Middle Ages. Then they ask me how I get by without it. To which I say it's pretty damn easy.
-
It would be amusing if you said that while holding a mobile phone in your hand.
-
I like how when I say I don't own cellphone how I get these looks of pity like someone would give a homeless kitten. I sometimes have one with me, which is borrowed, but telling people that just seems to confuse them even more.
-
I'd charge them a buck a minute. 5 minute minimum. pay phone is cheaper, but you'd have to walk all the way over there....
-
You reminded me of this girl in middle school that was charging people who wanted to use her hair spray. $.10 a spray! and people paid. hahahahah!!!
-

If I had a moblie Phone in hand it would be one of those old ones that was as big as brick, and about as heavy.
-
Keep a plastic toy phone handy to mess with them.
-
The reception is lousy but at least there's candy inside.

One of my best friends is a librarian.
Or some other boring fuck-job that a cock-rank like you would want.
-

Ba ha ha ha ha!
-
Aw, you were? :(
-
Or was he? DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

It's a cushy job. As for boring that depends on what kind of library you work in (academic, public, school, special (medical, corporate, industry, archives, museums, publishers)) and the type of work you do.
Some librarians do a variety of tasks: reference (helping patrons find stuff), collection development (order books and weeding the collection), instruction (teaching classes), manning the chatroom, marketing the library, etc.
Other librarians specialize: Systems (trouble shooting the integrated automated system and other technical equipment), web design, cataloging (entering the books into the OPAC (on-line public access catalog)), acquisitions (receiving book orders), grant writing.
Also keep in mind that these different areas also have specializations. For example in reference: Science and Engineering librarian, Government Documents librarian, Music librarian, etc.
-
The librarian from ghostbusters is my favorite.
-
I've actually been trying to get on at the local Library. Good hours, I'm there a lot anyway, and it's not exactly a hard job. I got person on the inside willing to help me get on and now I'm just waiting for someone to quit or die. It could be either-or with those old Librarian bats.
-
Like all government jobs, though.... hours are a difficult concern.

:lmao:
-
Seriously...half of them look like they have a room reserved a the deadsville motel already.

I'm not sure I am following you.

I was going to post about this yesterday but I forgot.
A co-worker pointed out to me that their was a wallet sitting on a table. I look and sure enough there was. There was a book bag on the fool and a coffe mug next to the wallet. The other tables had people but none of them appeared to notice. Another co-worker though it might belong to this one woman who was at the reference desk asking the librarian a question, but I didn't think so because the wallet did not appear to be a woman's wallet. I went to ask if it was hers anyway and would you know the wallet was hers. I swear sometimes people forget they are not at home.
This incident reminded me one that happened a couple of years back. Every summer the Univesity play host to different summer programs for high school students (PREP, upward bound, early college, etc.). A group of about 7 girls came into the library, stayed about an hour and then left. Later on someone tells me that their are all these purses sitting on a couch but no one is around. :o I go collect them and place them on a book cart behind the counter. Later on their sponser comes in for something and I tell him about the purses. He cannot believe the girls just up and left them there. :joe: Later all the girls come for their purses and I give each and everyone a good talking to. Some people it seems are born without common sense. ::)

If your library isn't used as a free day care, feel free to praise Cthulhu or the Flying Spaghetti Monster or whomever. I've heard some amazing horror stories from a librarian friend.
-
We've had to call the police a few times. We do not allow children under 14 unsupervised. Once a woman left her 12 year old daughter here and some homeless guy hit on her. The woman then got upset with us. :raiseeyebrow:
-
That wallet may have belonged to the poor fool stuck under the book bag.
-
hahahaha.. it is to laugh. I meant floor not fool.
-
I was like "what fool" and had to go back and look it over.
-

I'm not sure I am following you.
If you are not full-time, you will never, ever get more than 19 hours. Strictatiously enforced.
-
Well that wouldn't be so bad. I'm just looking to make a little cash. Not really looking for a full time career or nothing. I'd find getting paid once a month (like all state workers do in MO) to be far more hassle then only working 19 hours a week.
-
................................................. .........is it?
-
Yes.
-
Well, that settles that, then.
-
Settles ass.
-
Set less ass.
-
Set list ass?
-
Sat listless.
Ass.
-
Beck, there's some white stuff on the floor! ::point::
-
Thanks for pointing that out. I could've slipped and fallen and not been able to get up like those old people.
-
God damn, fuck damn. :goddammit:
Play along, you Texan titty-tosser!
-
Well I always said I'd toss them if they had teh cancer. And then you'd be the belle of the ball.
-
Please, I'm only like an A-cup.
-
Not if you gain some weight. More mac 'n cheese, bitch. Then you'd have some jugalicious man-titties.
-
That's gross.
-
I met a librarian the other day and asked her out on a date. Maybe she can hook me up with some free books.
-
Just hope she doesn't end up "Over Due".
HA....get it....over due. No, eh......forget it.
-
You fool, that was your cue to make a joke about him "checking her out". You lose.
-
brings a whole new meaning to getting Rowdy in the stacks.
-
Why'd you say that? I'm certain no one but us is going to get the "Rowdy" thing.
-
Dewey Decimal system? More like "DO HER" Decimal System!!! HA! I crack me up. Ha.

I thought sounded more like a Quagmire. It just needed the "Alll riiight" or "Giggity giggity"
