Man Attacked by an Owl
John Patterson says he never expected some of the wildlife in Hollywood Park to attack him.
A man is hit in the head three times, scratched up, and left bleeding. All while he was just walking down the street. He says, it was an owl that attacked him.
There's a lot of wildlife in the area, and people are used to it. But John Patterson says, he never expected some of the wildlife to attack him.
Hollywood Park is off the beaten path. It's serene, peaceful, and quiet. So, as the sun went down, John went out to get some exercise.
"I was walking right along here, and it hit me in the back of the head, and I thought I hit a tree limb," John said.
He looked around, and there was no tree limb.
Then, it hit John a second time. He said he thought it was a prank, or that something was after him.
John jogged another 50 yards and it happened a third time.
"It hit me again in the back of the head," John said. "This time I could see it, and it flew by and it had a pretty nice wing span."
John finally got his answer. An owl was what kept hitting him, with a sharp beak and dangerous claws. John's head was bleeding.
"The owl kept screeching at me," John said. "It wouldn't leave, so it was like an attack owl or something."
Word spread in the close-knit neighborhood, and now John's taking some ribbing.
"My nephews are calling me Uncle Hootie," John said. "They call me on the phone, 'who, who, who.' 'John, how are you who, who doing.'"
John says he can laugh about it now, but he was really worried about his eyes. He's also taking a different route on his walk now.
Hollywood Park Police say this is the first owl attack they can remember.

For a second I thought it said MaxConTexasTales instead of MikeCoxTexasTales.

It's his maiden name.

It seems the owl has attacked another person.

There's another report of a person being attacked by an owl.
Word of this "attack owl" is spreading fast in Hollywood Park. Two men now say they were just jogging down the street when out of nowhere, an owl rammed into their heads.
“I thought it was a prank, or something was after me, the invisible man or something, I don't know,” said John Patterson, the first man attacked by the owl.
Now the second man has come forward.
“Then just something...chckck, chckck, chckck,” Ryan Wayment described to News 4 WOAI’s Aubrey Mika.
Ryan Wayment didn't know what had come out of the dark trees...but he was scratched up and bleeding. Then, he got to thinking.
“We sometimes hear 'woo, woo' at night,” said Wayment.
And then he heard about John Patterson's attack.
“The story that y'all did on the news...the guy near here...I didn't actually see it, but I heard about it...so, I thought -- okay, it was an owl.”
It makes sense. Both men were on the same street around the same time, but, on different days. It's enough to make people wonder what's going on.
“I don't think it thought it was going to carry me away...I don't know what its motivation is…I don't know the why.”
But, at least now they think they know the "who."
Neighbors in that area they say they have actually seen the owl in their trees from time to time. They believe it's a great horned owl.

All owls should be destroyed before they can break out and try to eat Sam Neil!
-
I bet it's gonna be like a Tsavo maneater lion thing. They're gonna find a cave somewhere loaded with bones and owl pellets.

Revenge for Hedwig!
-
Hedwig was a white snowy owl.

Owls aren't racist. As long as you barf up compacted mouse remnants, you're in the club and deserve vindication.
-
Of course owls are racist. Otherwise, explain the KKOK.

All the ones here are too busy moonlighting as part of Hooter's signs to get involved in that nonsense. Idle claws are the Devil's workshop. :fingershake:

Silly! Ha!
