Title: Unemployed
Post by: The D on Aug 17, 2007, 05:06:44 PM
Well, it's official. The place I worked at briefly has let me go. The guy's selling the company because his business is too bad, and most of the employees are getting the boot.

I also don't have enough money to pay next month's rent.

I haven't gotten one phone call from the many jobs I filled out applications at, and when I sent out emails to a few places with resumes attached I got no response, even a simple "We recieved your message" one.

The only "Job" I've gotten is at Habitat for Humanity... a volunteer position building houses one day a week. But it doesn't pay the bills.

Michigan's economy is the shittiest in the US and that's saying something. It's at the opposite end of places like Arizona, where every place I stopped by told me they'd hire me within a week. One guy I was talking to said he read an article in an alternative newspaper that predicted the Michigan economy would collapse, causing the stock market to go with it, all public services would shut down, martial law would be declared, there'd be looting, rioting, violence, murder, and death, and the state would drag the rest of the US with it, and Michigan would jumpstart the apocolypse and Jesus would show up here.

A little on the far out side, but it's almost that bad for real

The real question now is... should I sleep under bridge 1 or bridge 2?

Pool all your money together and buy a van to travel around the states like a hippie.  Who needs jobs?

You should come to miami.  There is a bridge in Miami-Dade county that all the sex offenders live under.  It's the only place that a sex offender can live in the county (because every other area is too close to a school, church, etc.).  I hear they have port-o-potty's down there.

I got a new job last month, quit it this week, and should be picking up a new one in a couple weeks.

Mississippi kicks Michigan's ass! (http://www.shwiggie.com/boards/emoticons/rockon.gif)

Go flip hamburgers.  Nearly everyone at Dairy Queen and LJS were on drugs.  Fast food takes anybody.

Is there a Kinko's or FedExKinkos, whatever it's called now, in town?  They usually don't require much more than a pulse for the counter.  How about pet shops like Petco & PetsMart? Or fast food, like Nuri said.  You do what you gotta do - I got sick from posing for life drawing classes in January at the ancient Art League building in 1991, but it paid $9.50 an hour and unemployment had run out.  :joe:

There's always being a gunea pig for university research.

I also heard about that bridge with all the sex offenders living under there. As if that's gonna stop the problem.

I hear if you sacrifice one child to the bridge each month, it keeps them at bay.

D, hit the grocery stores.  Since school is starting, most of them are losing sackers and stockers.  And hey, plasma gets $125 a pop here - see what the going rate is there.

$125?  They only give you $20 here.  Waste of my time.

Whoops - my bad.  :sweatdrop: $25, not $125.  Second donation in the same week gets you $30, and one can donate again in 7 days.

I don't think he's desperate enough to risk being deployed at a time of war.

I'll never forget that chick that lovely Sgt. Castro the army recruiter sent over to my house to take my measurements.  "You need to lose some weight.  The best way to do this is wear a trash bag under your sweats and go jogging in the sun!" :joe:

Well Ryan Reynolds could use the money. You know how much booze it takes to make Alanis Morissette attractive enough to actually sleep with?

Paper bags were invented for a reason.  Not that I see anything wrong with her anyway.  As long as she doesn't sing.
