Title: I have discovered my purpose in life!
Post by: The D on Jul 28, 2007, 07:47:30 PM
I must invent the Persocon!!!!!

I've been watching Chobits and Chii and Sumomo are just too cute! I can't die happy unless I have that portable cuteness as well!!!

For now, a talking action figure would work... and this talking Sumomo doll  (http://www.google.com/products?q=sumomo+talking&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=YrG&um=1&sa=X&oi=froogle&ct=title)might tide me over, but she's a full 6 inches tall! That's too big to fit in a pocket!! She's supposed to be PORTABLE!!!! Where's the keychain version?! @_@

I'm not trying to create persocons for perverted purposes. If I wanted to have sex with a machine I'd hump my computer. And if I had a choice between Chii and Sumomo, I'd pick Sumomo because she's too damn cute. I just want a walking, talking cell phone, dammit :(

But the damn toy's 6 inches tall! That's almost as big as my foot! She's only 2 inches tall in the show! @_@ They CAN make voice chips that small.. :/ At least in Japan they can.

I think it would be possible to make the basics of an android. For skin, you'd use Realdoll type skin for realism. A titanium frame would hold up the insides, and a small computer would be located in the torso. Japanese robots now are advanced enough to walk on their own, in a limited fashion. No personality though, it would be like talking to your computer.

As for mini persocons, you'd have to build it around cell phone techology, since the technology is minature enough to handle it. Phone cameras for the optical sensors, nano-technology to move the joints, and a tiny hard drive or memory chip for all the programming. But it wouldn't be nearly advanced as the real thing. And it would be damn expensive.

Fursuiters.

You reminded me of this advice column entry (http://www.mysanantonio.com/salife/columnists/ccrow/stories/MYSA071407.9P.crow.15b093c.html).  It started out as a complaint about people who grope costumed workers (such as sports mascots and characters at Disneyland or something) but then turned into how those people must be furries!!!!11;lmfd  Which makes no sense because people who'd grab Bugs Bunny's crotch are rude perverts w/o any respect for boundaries, period.  Why it turned into Furry 101 is boggling.

If you can't grope Bugs Bunny at Six Flags, then what good is he?

How did this go from a discussion on Chobits to furries? There are no furries in Chobits!

Edit:
I just read the article. I'm still wondering how this woman associated groping mascots and costumed people as being a furry. Maybe she's obsessed with furries, or one herself. Considering it sounds like a lot of people, both women and men, grope costumes, I don't think ALL of them are furries. Then there'd be a lot more furries in this world.

"frotteurizing".... :joe:

What kind of dumbfuck would want to even touch the outside of one of those skanky costumes anyway? I had a friend who worked at Astroworld who told me those things get cleaned like once a season because it's so expensive. Gah!  :keelover:

Those people and their sprogs are A-holes.  All they see it a costume and fail to associate that there is a person inside it. It's bad enough that it's easier to be mean and ugly to people you don't know let alone some someone in costume who isn't perceived to be a person at all.

I emailed the lady and she responded!

Quote
I'm responding to the article you wrote on July 17th about the gropers
in theme parks (I read the article online). I have to confess I have
never heard of the term "frotteurism" before, but I am a younger man so
the term might be before my time.

I have to agree that groping someone in public like that in an unwanted
way is wrong, and in many states can also be charged as a sex crime.

I am a tad curious though, why you associate these gropers as
"Furries"? It sounds like a lot of people do the groping, which means a
lot of people would have to be furries, and from what I've read on
furries they're a very small minority group. Also, mascots and costumes
at theme parks come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, not all of them
being anthromorphic animals. Also, the theme park molestors might not
grope for sexual gratificaton, but just to be rude and intrusive.

Quote
I wrote a follow-up article in response to the one about furries. I received a slew of mail from that small minority group criticizing my assumptions about them. That article will be published on August 11th.

I have attached the original article on frotteurism as well as responses to it. The furry column was the third one spawned from the topic.

Cay

I gotta read that article when it comes out. it's probably a bunch of furries whining at her. XD

Well I guess I'll start by dousing an abandoned warehouse in gasoline and making fliers for a yiff party...

That's awesome, Doug.  I thought about writing her asking why she went off on such a wild tangent.  But I agree it'll likely be a bunch of whining emo furries.  Aug 11.  We shall see.

Yeah, don't get used to it.  I can't believe you've never heard of frotteurism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frotteurism).

I've heard of groping on trains in Japan, never realized there was a "scientific" name for it.

A link on the bottom of that Wiki lead to this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-penetrative_sex)... which is the most pornographic I've seen on Wikipedia.

The age insult was unintended.. I wonder if she noticed it :P

And then a search through Wikipedia finds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penis) even (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreskin) more (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clitoral_hood) pornish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labia) pics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clitoral_glans). Have they no decency?!

Grays Anatomy this is not!

Cay's response column. (http://www.mysanantonio.com/salife/columnists/ccrow/stories/MYSA081107.09P.Crow.188e20b.html)  I don't see why some of these jerks have to use their amminal names, too.  Use human names.  It's not a furry column.

No, that's like a fursuiter fetishist who is likely also a furry.  Kinda like how a Big Mac is a burger but not all burgers are Big Macs.

So what does furries get out of dressing like an animal??
Title: Re: I have discovered my purpose in life!
Post by: B E C K on Aug 16, 2007, 09:53:32 PM
Furries don't all dress like animals.  As for what the ppl that do get out of it, I'd say fabric rashes, a sweaty crotch, b.o. issues, and a bumped head from occluded line of sight.
