What I think is beyond insane is not giving terminal patients enough medication to keep them comfortable because the substance is addictive.  ::)  If I have a month left to live, who gizza shit if I become a morphine addict for 3 weeks?  Give out the dope and they'll be too lala to off themselves.

On that note, terminal patients should be allowed as many donuts as possible.  Who agrees?

I think terminally ill patients should be allowed to commit suicide, if they so wish. They're going to die anyway, so if they wanna make it quicker, I see no problem. It's just the pro-life right who's really against the idea, just like they bitched about Terri Schaivo who should have had the plug yanked years ago.

I think they should have the right to have their consciousness transferred into gladiatorial battle robots that fight for our amusement and gambling interests.

As long as none of those interferes with the donuts because I plan to collect when I'm terminally ill, assuming I don't die by tree like all of those people on mydeathspace.

"Suicide" is one thing.  But "assisted suicide" is better known as "homicide".

But what if the only way to commit suicide is with help?  A friend in need is a friend indeed!  On that note, I have a whole list of people I'm just dying to make friends with.  Ho ho.

Does that mean if I give you a gun, and then you shoot yourself with said gun, I committed murder?

But I didn't pull the trigger. I can claim I didn't know you were going to use the gun.

You'd just be an enabling asshole, but depending on the jurisdiction you can be charged as an accessory to suicide, which can be as weighty as accessory to homicide.

But your analogy isn't very analogous, as that's not what Kevorkian did.  He hooked them up to a device he himself created (first one administered drugs, the latter one was a gas mask feeding the "patient" carbon monoxide) with the express purpose of causing death at the push of a button.  He can't set up the device, hook them up, and then look all surprised when they wind up with a future in fertilizer.  And in the case of the guy he was convicted of killing, he actually injected him with a killing medical cocktail.

If you want to kill yourself, don't involve someone else.

It's kinda sticky when you can't move though.  How's a quad supposed to kill themselves?  Hold their breath?  Bite their own tongue out and choke on it?  Or have a friend give them a delicious donut to choke on instead, preferably a freshly-made Shipley's glazed chocolate that melts in their mouth thus killing them with joy?

I believe in pulling the plug on people who are living in pain in the same way that you would put a dog out of it's misery when it's old and in pain all the time.

Both of my grandmothers offed themselves by deciding it was time to die.  They just laid down and died of their own will...as was the custom of all numenoreans before the darkening of the land of the star.

My mom's dad's heart didn't like the surgery they did on it.  My dad's mom had cancer, but since she was a packrat, the house is cleaner now.  I think the chances of me dying of cancer are looking good!

Dude, I heard about that.  I was all, "Oh no!  Not Mr. Wizard!" and then I spent five minutes trying to remember who exactly that was since I didn't have time to look it up.
