My favorite Chinese restraurant is on fire! They showed a picture of it on tv with a giant grey plume coming out of it's head! NOOOOOOOO!! Why couldn't it have been the Red Lobster next door!? Take fuckin' Red Lobster instead!
-
So that's where IDE was cooking his eggs!
-
God damn it!!!
-
Oddly enough the exact same thing happened to me a few months ago. What's with fires and chinese resturants?
-
The Dogs and Cats are having their revenge.
-
red lobster cheddar biscuits are delicious.
that is all.
-
Too bad those are the only edible things.
-
I hate sea food in general.

I hate sea food in general.
Seconded.
-
There is hating sea food and then there is hating snow crab legs.
Can you really say you hate delicious snow crab legs?
-
I love Seafood.
^_^
I just think the stuff they slop out at Red Lobster is demeaning to anyone who's had the real thing.

The only legs I eat are chicken, but that's a misnomer...it's more like chicken hams. I also eat that part of hogs, cows, and deer. To me, eating a lobster is like eating big-assed roaches.
-
If roaches were that delicious, I'd be licking them up by the dumpster.
They aren't, though.

I like Shrimp...does that count?
-
Shrimp are sometimes called the cockroaches of the sea. Just sayin'.
Besides, this is all moot. 90% of my consumption at that place was their breaded chicken, which was teh shit.
Finally, I found a story on it. Very short. http://www.ksat.com/news/13303769/detail.html (http://www.ksat.com/news/13303769/detail.html)
(We) pulled the sockets out of the wall," said Chris Tullio, an employee. "I don't know if that's what started it today or not."
Jeeeeeeez, ya fuckin' think? *rips out hair*
-
??? For what? A bet? Trying to kill a mouse Tom & Jerry style by sticking dynamite into the holes? Morons.

They didn't reopen in time for my birthday. :( I must've eaten there three or four of my recent past birthdays. I lurve that place. Word is they open up in October. Blah! I missssss their chikinz. I had Chinese from this other place instead, not as good. Nope, nope. I like the thick, crispy, breaded chicken and most places do that wimpy thin coat of batter instead. Rawr.

I cannot eat Chinese food from a restaurant. I'm too spoiled by the home made stuff.
-
That you made, yourself?

I've never really had or made Chinese food. My dad would make stirfry sometimes, but I've never attempted to duplicate anything else other than buying those crunchy bread crumbs from the Asian food section and coating chicken and pork in them.
-
The chinese place I liked still hasn't reopened. I wonder if they'll bother to reopen it at all. Maybe they forgot to get business insurance.
-
I went to the homes of Chinese students during the dark days of my school life. I'm assuming it's the Chinese version of a student apartment and that regular Chinese households don't absolutely stink like that. But I can't eat the stuff, not knowing exactly what's in it, and in the time I could spend educating myself I could be home eating something I'm familiar with and enjoy.

So, you're saying you know what cockroaches out of the dumpster taste like. Congratulations :D

I attempted my own Sweet and Sour chicken....with less then favorable results.
-
Now did you try to make the sauce from scratch, use a packet, or did you have left over sauce from take-out?
-
I bought it from the store in a jar. It sucked. I should have tried to make it from scratch though. I really like the sauce from this local one place, and I wish I could get their recipe.
-
Argh, I just thought about that when I saw you replied to the thread. "I bet he's gonna say a jar." I hate the jarred shit. It's so sour and bitter and not sweet at all. It's fucking false advertising soooo bad. I've tried three or four different brands and they all sucked ass. Serious ass. Like "ew, this is sick!" ass. They overload on vinegar. The closest thing I've tasted to good sweet and sour sauce strangely is Hunt's ketchup. Now I'm not gonna be sticking Hunt's ketchup on my Chinese anytime soon, in fact I don't prefer my ketchup sweet like that (I'm a Heinz girl), but it has a particular sweetness that tastes like it would be great if the components could be isolated for sweet and sour sauce. If I recall correctly, it has more cr0n syrup or something in comparison to other ketchups.
I've been meaning to attempt the sauce from scratch, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm thinking I'd need cr0n syrup, pineapple juice, vinegar, and cornstarch as primary ingredients. I really need to try this. Not now since I'm eating on a budget this month, so maybe next month.
I tried a packet once and to its credit, it wasn't bitter at all. But it still wasn't close enough to what I wanted. I have a cookbook with a recipe for a sweet and sour sauce in it. I haven't tried that yet either.
-
Really. I've discounted sauces before because they weren't sour enough. In fact I won't go to this one place because they're Sweet and Sour is all sweet and no sour.
-
Well it needs some sour, but I prefer more sweet. I don't get this crap with vinegar overload though. That's just bitter.
-
I don't like it overly sour, just more sour then sweet.

better don't become a trend! i live in chinatown, i don't want my house burning!
