Well they tired to hype it as a joke and that didn't work. I noted when it came out Video they took a much more serious approach to the advertisements, which didn't work either.

I still swear I saw a SNL skit with Tim Meadows in it that was the exact same plot of Snakes on a Plane like back in the late 80s early 90s. Don't know what Episode and since Meadows was in hundreds of those shows it'd take forever to watch them all.

Oh I love them too. That seemed to happen a lot to European bands in the 80s. I loved Big Country as well, but they only had the one hit here in the states.

Well in the states the only other "Well Known" a-ha song was the aforementioned "The Living Daylights", which I actually think was better then "Take on Me." So if you don't know that one then I doubt you'd know any of their other stuff. But they are still together and released an album called "Analogue" in 2005. Sadly I don't own any of their Albums, but I have looked at their Greatest Hits, and Singles albums a few times even though I think compilation albums are a copout, but they are cheaper then buying the whole catalogue. Plus I bought "Playing the Angel" by Depche Mode and was let down and so I'm a little gun shy of buying "new" stuff from a band I like that I have not heard.

I won't buy a CD now unless it has songs on it I want badly enough that if everything else on the CD is bad, I can live with it.  I went through a phase where I just bought stuff because I heard the band was good, or I kinda liked a song, or I liked a previous release or whatever and had more than enough disappointments.  When we moved, I got rid of a whole shoebox of CDs, frankly not even worth the time to burn them before I sent them on their merry way.

Due to my dial-up ness, I prefer to get CDs of people I really like and rip them on my computer.  When I'm immediately craving a song or only want one or two songs from an artist I use Shareaza.  I bought from iTunes for the first time a little while ago, and I'll probably buy more from them in the future.

Sounds like some kind of Lorena Mckennett type song, but it's actually rock/metal. Supposedly the song's about prostitution, but I found this little fact about the song online: "The song regularly changes pitch between alto, tenor, and bass - all of which is sung by band member Darroh Sudderth."

The band's also on System of a Down's lead singer Serj's label.

I can see YouTube files, it just takes several minutes (or more if the file is longer than a song) as opposed to just playing for faster connections.  I usually have to deem it worth my time to bother.  Or I can watch it at school now that I've returned.  YouTube's actually the more dial-up friendly one.  Other vids like Google and Myspace video usually won't do shit for me at all.  And I have to dl Quicktime and Windows Media files to view them.

Tara Slone - "It Never Comes"

Finally got Tara's CD "Just Look Pretty And Sing", like, last weekend.  Not bad.  I'm not in love with it as much as I am with other former Rock Star contestant Storm Large's "Ladylike Side One".  Storm has this harder edge to her, and Tara is decidedly more pop in flavor.  But there are still plenty of good songs on it.  I give the CD 4 out 5 stars.

I like it.  If there's any complaints, it's that it's mainly slower material and I generally like faster-paced music.  All of the songs appear to be old staples of Storm's that she's been performing for years and you can find various live renditions and such over at http://www.stormdownloads.com/  All in all, they are personal to her (which is a nice touch) and all exhibit her voice well.

1.  Beautiful --  Very nice song.
2.  Ladylike  --  The one she did on Rock Star, except the 'fuck's have been restored.  On the show, she had to sing it "what the what is ladylike".  Really, really like it.
3.  Fat Chick's Revenge --  Decent.  Storm used to be overweight when she was younger so it immediately should make sense.
4.  You & You & Me -- I really like this one, but I prefer the one she did live at Red Devil Lounge.  It's over at Storm Downloads.  There it's faster and done with a little more gusto.  Still good and catchy.
5.  Twisted Jimmy -- My favorite and the hardest, fastest song on the disc.  I could play this one forever.
6.  Under You -- A sweet song in its own way.  About Storm and her boyfriend Davey I believe.
7.  Where Is My Mind? -- A Pixies cover.

I'm partial to "Hell is for Children" and "We Live for Love" myself.

I've been listening to the Marilyn Manson cover of "This is Halloween".  It's rad.  I went to look it up at iTunes at first, mainly because I didn't even know our comp lab computers had iTunes.  I know they didn't always have it, so when I discovered they finally did, I went exploring.  It turns out if you want to buy it on iTunes, you have to buy the whole fucking "Nightmare Before Christmas" soundtrack album with all the original songs (which strangely you CAN buy separately) along with the crappy covers by Suck! at the Disco and Crap Out Boy.  Now granted, I like the original songs, but I was really just interested in the Manson cover and the Fiona Apple one of "Sally's Song".  If I want to hear Danny Elfman, I'll go pop in the movie.  And I'm sure as hell not cool about buying those songs I don't even want.

Anyway...I did some research on my own cause I didn't expect to get anything resembling a good answer from bubbles here (and he didn't disapoint.) and apparently it's not a remix persay. The producers slowed the track down and removed some elements to fit the pacing of the trailer. It's yet to be seen if this slower version of the song will appear on the soundtrack or not.

Well to be fair it only takes a few weeks of non-use around here for something to collect a thin layer of dust, but I hadn't listened to Definitely Maybe in at least 6 months. I also noted that this CD is in pretty bad shape, but after as many times as it's been listened too over the last 14 years, I'm a little surprised it even plays. I really need to replace this CD, What's The Story (Morning Glory), Which is in worse shape, and Be Here Now, which meet with a rather bad accident that left it unplayable.

SOTSOG was one of the first CDs I purged when I decided a few years back to get rid of shit I don't listen to.  What a piece of crap.

It was a shock to the system given their first three. It has it's moments. Gas Panic is good and I liked Sunday Morning Call...but as follow up to Be Here Now it just really fell face first. It was just too different then what came before. New style, new members, even a new Logo. It's my least favorite. I even like "The Masterplan" better and that was just a collection of B-Sides that didn't see release in the US.

"To Be Where There's Life" -Oasis off their new Album.....which kinda just sounds like their last album. Think it's time for a change again guys. Maybe back to the kinda stuff you did on the first three albums? Maybe? No.....ah well. I like this song though.
