Title: Gurgles to the surface....
Post by: Bernie AKA on Jan 14, 2007, 07:44:15 PM
Absolutely the last  holiday season I bartend.  People are major tightwads here, and I fucked up my back to boot.  However, our new HDTV is beyond sweet and bought with cash, which is why I put the old tip tops back on in the first place.  :)

Other than getting attacked by a psychotic terrier while walking one of our dogs in the middle of the street and Eddie's beloved Jeep getting smashed by a dickhead with no insurance, just waiting for the Arctic storm everyone is wetting themselves about.  With any luck, most of the city will shut down on Tuesday since very few people here have any idea of how to drive on ice.

The fun part of the wreck is our rental car.  We're in a black PT Cruiser until at least next week.  Dark, rainy streets, winter trench coat on - very film noir.  :P

Now excuse me while I catch up on the past two months of posts....

You'd be surprised how little there is to catch-up on...

Even in a state where we get ice every year, no one can drive on the shit. I hate to think what the streets would be like where no one will have any experience with it at all.

I want SA to shut down, but damn, school starts that day and I have to be on campus to get a class changed.  Maybe it can stay open until I change my class.  I'll be happy to go home after that.  But we all know nothing incites fear into South Texas like sleet....

It's generally snowing in Maryland this time of year, but it's been pretty off.  Since Christmas, we've had Spring-like weather, today was fucking 68 and we had to leave our windows open at the office, since no one had keys to adjust the thermostat.

Haha bitches this is yet another step on the transformation of this country into a latin country! tropical weather! you have to thank Peru and its El Nino current for this one.
Hmmm 11 celsius feels sooo good. Shit but tomorrow is going to be -2.

Hey Ma....I'm posting from a diaster area.

Damn...I just got powet back after like not having since Sat. Morning. That was fun. What sucks is I rented a bunch of movies from Blockbuster and now I have to return them and I havn't even got to watch them. That and I just took my first shower in three days. Hope it stays on this time. Last time we got powet back we only had it for 4 hours before it went off again.

Yeah, except we already had semi-tropical weather and now we're ice-ville.  Today's high was like 36 or something.  A number of schools have already announced closings tomorrow.  Luckily due to anticipating a busy, cold week, Merla and I had stocked up on groceries on Sunday so no one will have to venture out for food soon unlike the schmucks on the news.

Confuse me?? You guys close up schools because its 36 outside? YOU ARE SO LUCKY, my fucking university wouldn't even close if it was 10 fahrenheit outside and with blizzards. Fucking greek president.

They closed because it precipitated and reached under freezing last night, causing roads to ice over.  We also had light rain throughout the day, keeping things icy.  36F was the high temperature for today.

I think so.  I don't drive either so I don't pay attention to that sort of thing.  The reporter on tv was sliding around on the street, so I guess it's pretty slick.

Only if I want to freeze my nuts off while doing so, since the water heater is electric. We are like right in the middle of it. I actually know people that still don't have powet and it went out Friday. And the lights are flashing here as I'm typing this.

That's a heatwave for us. It got up to a whole 7 yesterday and was -3 last night. You know everytime I start to think I might actually want to stay here when I get some cash in my pocket, something like this happens and New Mexico, Neveada, or Texas start to look better and better...more then likely Texas. I've gone out in a T-shirt when it was 36 before, but -3 is for the fucking dogs.

We had glass grass, it was cool.  Is your stove also electric?  Ours is gas so if the powet ever went out, I'd be heating up potsfull for a bath.

Yes..our heat is electric. We use to have wood heat, but I hated it and ended up getting my way and having it taken out about 2 years ago. Only time I wish I had it. But I was able to aquire a propane space heater, which I had lots of since I use it for my BBQ in the summer. Which was good, cause no store had any propane left.

Oh yeah..we got the burger flipper, the Thongs.....I mean tongs. The basting brush...sexy! And then a nice grill cleaner. Everything you need for the perfect summer BBQ.

And damnit..we are suppose to get more snow and ice this weekend.

We're suppose to return to the 30's next week.  I saw some girl back on Thursday when I was leaving campus and the mama was wearing short-shorts.  I felt like asking her if she was from up north, because a very few people around here do that.  I wanted to spank her.

Yeah..like we burned wood.

And I like fireplaces too, but I'd never have them as the primary way of heating a house. More for atomsphere.

Chicken, pigs, cows, and fish can be adorable.  I can't eat anything really cute like a bunny or a cat.

People around here eat rabbits.  I couldn't do it, though, since they're one of the few woodland creatures I like (yes, even squirrels).  Besides, they tell me rabbit is stringier than hell.

But concerning marshmallows exploding in a microwave...that's my preferred means of making Rice Krispie treats.  Lots easier and quicker than the old stovetop method.

I haven't tasted it, but a woman once told me deer tasted gamey.  She and her husband would go hunting and kill their own.  Way to go.  Not only did you needlessly kill something, it didn't even taste good.

The only thing I would NEVER eat is a baby animal(ie: veal)
I actually found out like 5-7 months ago that veals are baby cows. and next day i saw that episode in south park where i dont remember which one of the kids found out the same thing and he went on to try to save them all!

You know, I never really understood what "gamey" was suppose to taste like.

Here's an easy way to tell:  have you ever eaten fried cubed steak?  If you compare the taste of cubed steak and similarly prepared deer tenderloins, the only discernable difference you will be able to tell is the afore-mentioned "gamey" taste.  Deer make for pretty good meat, by and large.

And what's the difference between eating an animal and a baby animal?  The latter tends to be more tender.  BTW, "baby cows" are generally called calves.

Like Parcheesi!  Or "(used of the smell of meat) smelling spoiled or tainted".  Whichever you prefer.  Dude, I love cubed steak.  You've never had chicken fried steak?  Cubed steak's used a lot for that.  Or steak fingers.  I don't care what it is, bread it and fry it.
