Does anyone else use Windows Media Player? I went ahead and updated it and though I don't mind the default color I can't change it. I can't load files from my playlist, it doesn't display the artist and songs full name unless I maximize the screen, and I don't get any form of playtime in minimode aside from where the slider is. What do you guys use? Maybe I can try that.
I also like how it insists on assigning albums to a couple of songs and it's not even the correct artist. Like that album cover that it's displaying now. I have no idea whose album that is.
-
I think my computer uses I-tunes by default, but I have media player too. those graphs look cool, i didn't know they had it. maybe its not in the mac version yet.
anyways, on my hp laptop i have winamp installed, and i love it. i never have had a problem with it, ever.
-
like a ghost flippin you the bird?
-
When I updated Media Player last it deleted half of my MP3s.
-
Really? That's never happened to me before. Are you sure it didn't rename them or something?
Also, either because of this update or possibly with this update, my Microsoft Picture It! 99 (yes, it's that old), no longer permits me to save in JPEG format. That's bullshit. Updaters shouldn't have been touching that program to begin with. I made my first avatar with that program. I've been saving JPEGs with it for seven years and now I can't anymore.
-
Yeah I'm pretty sure. I looked for them for weeks before just giving up that they were lost to me forever. I was in the process of trying to get "Goldeneye" by Tina Turner outta my head by listening to it over and over until I got sick of it, but it was one of the ones I lost in the upgrade. So I'm still humming that song in the back of my head to this day.
What was odd was that there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind what got deleted and what got saved. I had several Bond song on my hard drive, and I lost like "Goldeneye" and "A View to a Kill", but "The Living Daylights" and "The World is Not Enough" where spared. And I even had two songs I downloaded from the same place that were both by Hoverphonic. "Strange Effect" got deleted...."Eden" remained. "Before I'm Dead" by the Kidney Thives....gone. "Forsaken", which was on the same Queen of the Damned Soundtrack, is still there.
I can't explain it.
-
Maybe it knew it was you. You don't have Goldeneye on DVD or tape? Maybe you can get rid of it by listening to it there. I stick DVDs in my computer and pull the music off with Step Voice Recorder.
Damn, I just discovered another quirk. For everything with more than one artist, it shuttles it to the end of the alphabet. So I have all my music from "ABC" to "Zilch" and then the goddamn alphabet starts all over again. So like I have "Erasure Pop! The First 20 Hits" but since the last track had a contributing artist, it's not listed with the nineteen others under "Erasure" it's listed by itself under "Erasure" somewhere after "Zilch". The only way to list them all together is to list under the name of the album but then that leaves out the "Erasure" tracks that I have that didn't come from that CD.
Interestingly, all of the tracks on TTK's "Reincarnation of Luna" all have it credited under them and the "Bomb Gang Girls", but they aren't with the other multi-artist tracks (they're all in the right spot). I think Media Player also gave credit to the "Bomb Gang Girls" for another TKK album they weren't even on. And the "Bomb Gang Girls" are even listed first in the damn tag like so:
Bomb Gang Girls; My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult
By Media Player's own sorting technique, the BGG should have been under the B's after "Zilch" with all of the tracks they contributed on.
This is stupid. This version of Media Player wasn't ready to be released yet. The only things I had to deal with in the older one was the Playlist editor being out of order because it wanted to display contributing artists after the other artists they performed with (so all of my "Queen" music was after "David Bowie" instead of "Quarterflash") and the Library wanting to display a page from the Internet (but I solved that by only accessing the Library when I was offline). I can't even open a playlist or edit a track from the List Pane anymore, and that was how I did everything. I used to hide the top menu because I hated it and now I have to keep it open because the stupid tabs have nothing in their submenus that allows me to open a music file by filename.
They expect people to leave their current media players for this? Ho ho ho.
-
And instead of keeping my last playlist or track in the player so I could go back to it when I re-open Media Player, I'm forced to go into the Library each time and pluck a playlist from there. The order in the playlist 's changed, too. Dumb, dumb. The older Media Player was so close to being everything I needed for my music. Now I'll probably have to look into something else. Dumb dumb dumb.

The only thing I use WMP for is to rip music from CD and encode into MP3s. When I listen to it over the computer, I use iTunes, but it's generally a way station for my music on its way to the iPod. That's where I do the majority of my listening.
WMP does a good rip job with no errors I've found, and I use MPTagger to label them when a CDDB file can't be found. Which is most of the time, since most of my music comes from single compilations sent to the radio station by recording companies, not actual albums.
-

I actually have it on both, and I have A View to a KIll on tape, DVD, and CD. And yeah I've actually been listening to it on the DVD. The Music Video is part of the extra features.
-
Did Bond really sleep with Grace Jones?
-
Yes...and you get to see her in a thong as well. *Shudder*
-
I had recorded the movie from TV but I hadn't actually sat down to watch it yet and I just saw a bit part that made me wonder. She probably crushed him.
-
Did you know that Grace Jones once dated Dolph Lungdren (sp?)? Now that's an odd couple.
-
Who broke whom?
-
I think it was a tie.
-
Then resumes the cast-love.
-

Bond's own words after Walken asks him how he slept the night he did Jone.
"A little restless, but I got off eventually."
-
Just one more reason why A View to a Kill is tied with Tomorrow Never Dies for worst Bond movie ever.
-
Anyone that says that either hasn't seen Moonraker or has an unnatural nostalgic tie to it. No Bond is worse then Moonraker.
-
I agree the new WMP is horrid just because alot of the features I did like are now gone. I'm not about to use I-Tunes, because I disprove of its purpose and how Apple operates... but then again it's not like I can use some third-rate DJ program either, like my friend Zach does.
C'est la vie.
-
I'm gonna kept using WMP but hold out for an improvement while keeping my eye out for something better. I'm not using iTunes either.
-
Dude, "Tom in class"? When did you start?
-
Anyone that says that either hasn't seen Moonraker or has an unnatural nostalgic tie to it. No Bond is worse then Moonraker.
Nobody says that because only an imbecile would. Moonraker was one of the most successful of the Bond movies and remains a good movie today. Sure, the outer space laser battle was goofy, but no more so than a seven foot tall dude named after a shark with stainless steel teefs.
-
How was Tomorrow Never Dies worse than Die Another Day. I think A View To A Kill shouldn't be worse anyway on account of having a really cool Duran Duran song attached to it. Second to worse would be acceptable.
-
Thanks, you just created a trifecta. In fact, Halle Berry combined with the general premise to Face/Off may make it the worst, period. But I confess to having actually enjoyed DAD with that more than TND (worst use of Michelle Yeoh ever) with Rupert Murdoch instigating WWIII btw China and the West.
-

Only an imbecile would defend it. The movie it one giant running joke. From the fact that the enitre script is tongue cheek. To a lame Odd Job rip off, who has a romantic storyline that is meaningless to the overall plot, oh and let's not forget his Willie Coyote antics through out the entire film. Girls come with Bond's hotel room and disappear after he sleeps with them. And a plot line that tries to band wagon on the St*r WarzzZZ craze at the time instead of actually making a faithful film version of what I consider one of Ian Flemings best works.
And it doesn't matter if it did well at the box office. "Wild Wild West" did well at the box office...it doesn't make it a good film, which it doesn't even come close to that. Wild Wild West was actually a BETTER movie then Moonraker. With a tighter plotline and better acting. Like most of the Moore era film Moonraker is crap, and anyone with any sense only has to debate if it is or isn't worse then The Man with the Golden Gun. A debate me and cousin have almost every Christmas as he is also a huge Bond fan like myself. He think MWTGG is worst, and I think Moonraker...we do both agree they both suck to ninth degree though. A View to a Kill and Tommorrow Never Dies can't compare to the sheer suckatude of Moonraker. And almost every serious Bond fan dislikes Moonraker. Just go over to MI6.co.uk forums and just start talking about how great you think Moonraker is and see what happens.
Now just for the fun of it I'll list my top bond list from Best to Worst.
1. Goldeneye
2. From Russia with Love
3. License to Kill
4. Thunderball
5. Goldfinger
6. Casino Royale
7. Dr. No
8. The Living Daylights
9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
10. The World Is Not Enough
11. A View To A Kill
12. Tomorrow Never Dies
13. You Only Live Twice
14. Diamonds Are Forever
15. Die Another Day
16. Live And Let Die
17. For Your Eyes Only
18. Octopussy
And the TRUE trifecta of suck.
19. The Spy Who Loved Me
20. The Man with the Golden Gun
21. Moonraker
-
I have the damn Wild Wild West song in my head now.
I like Michelle Yeoh and all, but she never struck me as being a Bond girl. I just couldn't get into that. Halle Berry was just ridiculous. What a hack. Denise Richards kept me far and away from TWINE (ha, twine), though I think I should watch it and just mute the part about Christmas coming early this year.
The only other ones I've seen are Goldfinger and Goldeneye and the one with a hot, young Jane Seymour. (Okay, so it's Live and Let Die, another one with an awesome song.) I think I've actually seen most of A View to A Kill but I just didn't remember it. The same probably goes for For Your Eyes Only.
-

The 8th, taking 2 graduate level courses and it's good. ^_^
-
I was suppose to start today. <_< I could start tomorrow if the school's open, but I'd rather not. Wednesday just isn't good for me. I'd prefer Thursday.
-
You sound like Kary x.x
But then I like these classes. I am a giant nerd. ^_^
-
How do I sound like Kary? IDE, did you take over tom?
-
My PC is too bunk to run WMP11 at a medium pace, so I stuck with 10.
-
You aren't missing out.
-
Oh, you're just saying that.
Thank you for sparing my feelings.
-
I'm really not. It's a horrible piece of crap.
-
But... it's new! And therefore it must be awesome!
Don't lie to me, woman! I'll slap them lies right outta yer purdy little mouth!
And then I will go to prison for nonconsensual mansex.
-
It's the ugliest, most inefficient WMP ever. The only new, shiny thing I like are the buttons.
-
Okay. I really don't need to keep up with the Joneses anyway. Or the Smiths. Whichever one of them is using WMP11.
-
The Joneses are racists anyway. And Morrissey left the Smiths a long time ago. [doHTML]I love Morrissey. (http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/119/119298_morrissey_comments_spark_bush_fire.html)[/doHTML]

I think we all forgot about the Nahassapittlam's from Cambodia. Those bitches have WMP12. Fucking time traveling bastards.
-
Cambodia is tizz-ight!
-
I like Media Player 11 a lot, mostly because it gives you the ability to stream content to the 360, but I also think it runs better then WMP10 did.
-
Boo!
-

Bill Gates must include brain-washing software with the release, compounded with the shittiness of the 360. Seriously, does anyone even buy those things anymore? If I had an interest, I'd buy a PS3 before an X-Box.
-
I also own a PS3 and a Wii.
Jumping to conclusions of "brain washing" is childish on a Doug-like level. Be ashamed Tom... Be very ashamed.
Also, despite what you've heard via trolls on the internets, the 360 is a very solid console.
-
One of the good things about my recent computer issues means I'm back on version 9 now.
Moonraker's still an enjoyable movie, and Goldeneye is way overrated.
-
For one second I thought you said "Moon walker"
-
Bah....you can't overate perfection.
-

Then you're a consumer whore.
I've played the 360, didn't see anything special about it. And the people I've heard it from own their 360s, and play nothing but Halo on it, and have otherwise no use for it.
-
"Tom in the lab." No doubt the subject of cruel and unusual experimentations! Do tell us about it.
-
I've played the 360, didn't see anything special about it. And the people I've heard it from own their 360s, and play nothing but Halo on it, and have otherwise no use for it.
Are you judging it by its available games or what? Because if 360 isn't special on account of that, the PS3 and Wii must suck all the harder in your opinion.
I'd bet that 360 is worth having for no other reason than HiDef Burnout. For that matter, I justified buying an Xbox just for Burnout 3. Not that there's nothing else for it, but for me that's all it needed. I haven't even played Halo 1 or 2.
-
I'm considering buying a 360 simply because alot of hollywood contacts have one and they meet to play online regularly.
-
I've "Played" the wii and i can say that it is a waste of money. You can do the same shit at dave and busters and its even better there.
-
You didn't drink when playing with the wii? I golfed wonderfully. I want to try the other golf game, the one with the hot anime babes... but you're right, Dave and Busters will always beat any game system. Full Bar and Kitchen + A floor of games > A crappy system hooked up to any type of TV.
LET'S ALL GET DRUNK!
-
Then you're a consumer whore.
No, I just have more money then your broke ass.
-
I also find the 360 to be quite an enjoyable system and have declined to get a Wii or PS3. PS3 just on principle ($600. No. Just. No.) And the Wii because nothing interests me on it just yet.
- Wickedly Yours E
-
Then you're a consumer whore.
No, I just have more money then your broke ass.
Because I don't spend my money on something that will be useless in three years? If I wanted to do that, I'd own an iPod. I don't, but still, if I did, I'd be there. Totally in there, which is Steve Job's Gaping asshole. It is quite large.
-
If you don't want to buy something that's going to be useless in three years then game platforms is the wrong place to be buying anything.
-
How is iPod going to be useless in 3 years?
That's poppycock! It plays my music while I run and let's me watch television shows and movies wherever I am. It doesn't have it's own connection to the INTERNET but when they come out with that it will hardly render mine useless.
-
Give it like a couple of months.
I dislike buying shit that eeeverybody is buying. Like ipods and those games. Fuck that! I'm a trend-setter, not a trend-follower B)
-
I tend to go against trends and go with what I like.
-
I have a laptop and an MP3 player that both have SD card slots.
I'm never at a loss for content or games.
I've actually never bought a Game system either, every one I have I've been given. Wierd.
-
I just don't have a need for an iPod. Not that I'd refuse a free one, but I listen to enough music to not need it while I'm on the road or whatever.
-
I think it would invite someone mugging you. I may be wrong, though.
-
I don't give a shit about what's trendy, or how long it will last. I just buy whatever the fuck I feel like buying...
-
I think it would invite someone mugging you. I may be wrong, though.
A lot of things could invite someone to mug you: Like a nice coat or having taken a bath.
-
or nice sneakers
hahaahah ghettooooo
-
Having a 400 dollar ipod just hanging out though, shit, I'd mug someone if I knew I could get away with it.
-
A lot of people I see usually have them stashed in their pockets or in their bags: The only clue being the headphones sticking out.
-
I'm sorry, earbuds.
-
Buying an iPod just to be "zomg I haev an iPod lulz!1!" is retarded but not buying one because everyone else has one and you actually need one is equally retarded.
edit: and by need I mean I'm now addicted to having my own music play while at the gym.
-
A lot of people I see usually have them stashed in their pockets or in their bags: The only clue being the headphones sticking out.
People don't pick pockets? I see the white headphones/earbuds as a dead giveaway.
-
I don;t have an ipod, but i have this amaaaazing mp3 player i got in singapore. imo its 595849689 times better than the ipod.
-
Probably, Japanese MP3 players are far superior. I want a Japanese Cell phone, those things even jack you off before you go to sleep.
-
A lot of people I see usually have them stashed in their pockets or in their bags: The only clue being the headphones sticking out.

Eh, they could. I just don't pay enough attention to know.
-
I got an iPod a while back because I got tired of using shitty ass mp3 players. I had a tiny MuVo that was okay, but it only had 128MB space and only a play and two tracking buttons. Great for jogging, but that's it. I then got a Lyra, which was decent, but it crapped out after a couple months with a bum hard drive. So, since I had the dough, I just decided after having the Yugo and a Chevette of mp3 players, I would go straight for the Cadillac.
So I have a black 30GB video iPod with a large chunk of my entire music collection on it set to shuffle, and I haven't heard the same song twice in months of driving. Plus, if I'm at the doctor's office or waiting similarly elsewhere, I can watch TV shows I ripped from DVD. Very nice. And I have it in a black rubber shell w/plastic screen that keeps it from losing that nice black finish and scratching the screen all to hell. Plus it keeps it disguised.
I usually leave it in my car while milling around in town, but I keep it in my glove box. And if anyone tried to mug me for it or anything else, I have a .357 solution for that problem.
-
There's no way only a quarter of a solution's going to work!
I have a 6 GB Creative Zen Micro that I'm surprised I've actually managed to fill 5.1 gigs of.
-
That felt like such a Doug joke.
I'm so sorry.
-
You should be, you filthy boy! Go to the corner and think about what you implied!!
-
o.o
RED HOT LOLI ACTION!
-
you forgot the spanking!
-
...Ah.,....You can do that if you want. I'm okay.
...And straight.
-
spank doug?? heeeeeeell nooo
-
There's no way only a quarter of a solution's going to work!
But 0.357" of lead will.
